I was confused why Blizzard chose to nerf Force of Nature instead of Savage Roar and then I saw Big Wisps. Turn 6 Force of Nature into 2 Big Wisps would have been an 18 damage burst on fucking turn 6.
+Krzysztof Piasek lol, its still going to see play that silence ability is powerful. the reason they added +1 to cost is to prevent its realiability in zoo many control decks will still run atleast one
I heard they are going to change a few card names too. The new names are Dust Roar, Force of Dust, Keeper of the Dust, Ancient of Dust, Dust Flurry, Master of Dust, Dust Juggler, Dust Golem, Dust Gnome and Big Dust Hunter. Sounds Preeety good.
I honestly thought the old Ancient of Lore, Keeper of the Grove, and Ironbeak Owl were pretty weak up until the nerf announcement. Now I think they're all unplayable.
Blizzard literally forgot of Spellbreaker. -keeper of the grove is a understated Spellbreaker (yeah keeper has 2 dmg versatility, but if you chose that you're playing ironforge rifleman basically) -Owl is now 3 mana as a (2,1) with silence or you can spend one more mana and get the body of a piloted shredder by playing spellbreaker. I mean Spellbreaker is going to be the most used silence card now. The card was never bad and saw use several of times in warrior, reno warlock, and several of more decks.
+John Hill I think you're really underating the 2 dmg effect, the thing is that if you Innervate the keeper on turn 2 to deal with a knife jugler fx, the 2/4 body of the keeper can easily kill a pedler afterwards. so in most casses as a 2/4 the keeper trades for two and a half minion, while now in the best case scenario it trades for two, which is still quite good.
i love how ppl say that "you can only play moltens at 5 health" which shows inherent problem with the card that is 0 mana 8/8. It should be "minimum 1"
Ancient of Lore nerf was completely unnecessary.. You can't really do much with the cards you draw or already have unless you get innervate. Which is not all that likely.
Although I agree, Nerfing a card repeatedly would enable multiple full dusts refunds. Changing cards repeatedly in games like hearthstone or MTG will also annoy people because the value of the cards will fluctuate like crazy.
Just went on hearthpwn and I'm not sad anymore because look at the rest of these cards if they're real (which they should be) I'm even more hyped!!! OLD GODS HYPE but yeah.... could have gotten a legend...
/!\ !!!!!!Enhanced Skipperino!!!!!! /!\ 1:05 Ancient of Lore 2:38 Force of Nature 3:47 Keeper of the Grove 4:20 Because I can =) 4:58 Ironbeak Owl 6:40 Big Game Hunter 8:27 Hunter's Mark 9:20 Blade Furry 11:00 Knife Juggler 11:50 Leper Gnome 12:15 Arcane Golem 12:35 Molten Giant 14:03 Master of Disguise Well... Let the Dust flow!
Anon_is Master_race dude if it costs 40 mana. it will cost 11 mana when you have hero health. how stupid is that? you would need to keep tharissan out for many terms for a 40 mana molten giant to be useful.
+TooHard “Pancake” ToChangeName without Mad Scientist Freeze Mage will have an a lot harder time to get those defensive secrets out - and will have to pay them with mana, thus drawing even less. The next point is: C'Thun decks (and we will see a lot of those) will counter freeze Mage. Freeze Mage without Mad Scientist will be a little bit slower than Freeze Mage already is, giving the opponent enough time to get that C'Thun growing. You only have to drop the Freeze Mage low enough to be in Range of your C'Thun and C'Thun will pop him at 1 hp, even through an Ice Barrier... Freeze Mage might still be strong, i'm not saying that Freeze Mage will be unplayable. But there are some good reasons to at least doubt that we will enter an era of Freeze Mages...
Your review is pretty much the same as my review on Hearthpwn. Glad to see I'm not too far off the money in my analysis. Always good to watch your videos Krip.
So Rogue had 4 decks: Oil, Deathrattle, Mill, and Malygos. Now oil is dead (tinkers is leaving standard, deathrattle is dead (with Naxx leaving), mill is useless without deathlord or healbot. Malygos is significantly weaker without the power of blade flurry to back it up. Rogue's strongest deck, oil (which now can't be played in standard) , wasn't exactly unfairly dominating the meta... Thanks Blizzard! You got rid of all rogue's burst, which you justify by saying burst isn't "fun." Well the most competitive burst deck out there, freeze mage, didn't loose any of its key cards, and Alexstrasza didn't get changed. I just don't understand what people who decide on nerfs discuss.
+Darxim Jeah, they're way to rough with the nerfs. Instead of really lookin' into the card and maybe even reshape it a little they just reduce or increase a number. Ancient of Lore is a good example! Yes, drawing 2 was to good, but just nerfing it without giving the card something somewhere else just makes it useless. I don't think they're goal should be to lose out already used design space. Same with the silencers. Why is a neutral card equal to a class card? That breaks tradition and for no reason. Owl is another example, owl is played for the silence not for the body. Reducing Owl to 1/1 or even 0/1 but keepin' the cheap silence as a tool in aggressive decks would've been mighty fine. I also don't get it why they do not apply smaller nerfs/buffs from time to time and see how the players adapt to them - nope, always bring out the chainsaw and go full tilt on the cards.
+Aspartem You're missing the point. Owl is OP BECAUSE of how cheap it is. Silence is OP and it's bullshit that aggro decks had such a strong, CHEAP tool against control decks. 2/1 for 2 was already shitty stats, nerfing stats would do nothing. It was one of the reasons everyone complained about aggro decks being OP and now complain about Blizzard trying to nerf it. Stupid
Rastrisfrustreslos Gomez this isn't about patron. if they really wanted to stop patron just make it 2 attack minions instead of 3. its just that the people who are in charge of the nerfs clearly never plan to buff any cards ever so when blizzard hits something with the nerf stick its dead for good. I would much prefer a ban list system so that i can actually still play the cards outside of ranked instead of making them worthless
So Kripp how much dust are you getting from these cards? I'm getting over 21 000 since I have most goldens, but I'd assume you have more than x2 of each card golden.
I just want Blizzard to fix the card text on Molten Giant, because right now it reads "Costs (1) less for each damage your hero has taken." while its effect is "Costs (1) less for each health point your hero is missing". It's actually pretty significant, because the current phrasing implies that healing wouldn't increase the card's cost and transforming into Jaraxxus will literally make it unplayable once the nerf goes live.
+josh yocum no you don't understand. freezemage can NEVER be good. if it ever becomes good, everyone will play warior and kezan/ secret eater. then it will be shit. warrior AND freezemage can NEVER be good at the same time
+Kripparrian you said that we must disenchant all the nerfed cards but some of the cards are still playable and eventually we have to craft them for the same cost so whats the logic ?
if they are gonna nerf blade flurry, then they should allow us to disenchanted ALL rogue cards. I feel like rogue should continue to be a combo class, not some shity control class that losses to the other control classes anyway
+Brian D Typically gaining a Mana Crystal is valued between 1 and 1 1/2 Mana Cost on a card. Seeing as how Arcane Golem is a 3 drop (standard stats being 3/4) it should have stats equal to that of a standard 4 drop (4/5) at the very least. If the card were to actually see play, I'd presume it would need to be either a 4/6 or a 5/5.
+kripparrian I'm hoping you might know the answer to this. So I just opened my R17 ranked chest and recieved a golden infested tauren. up until now, I always kept the golden even when I didn't have 1-2 standard versions. this time I went into my collection and I had 2 standard instead of one standard and a golden. did Blizzard change this collection mech?
Most targets with more than 7 attack cost 5 or more. You can still combo BGH with something that buffs attack to remove things with under 7 attack. 5 mana for removal isn't bad considering you get a 'free' 4/2 on the board. BGH is still great value/tempo.
+Cas Meijers Because then people might still play it, and Blizzard has a *very* long track record of nerfing cards such that they will never see play again.
+Cas Meijers Because changing the statline would require extensive testing and there isn't time for that, with the amount of extensive testing required for these 'huge' changes.
+Cas Meijers iknow right. they dont really nerf cards, they kill cards. i dont like when it happens to card from classic set. they will be there fowever as a dead card...
With Big Game Hunter they could have given it a solid damage battle cry to minions with 7 attack or more, "Damage a minion with 7 attack or more for 8 damage" retain the cost. Still takes care of relatively big minions but won't be able to out right kill that amazing 10 10 or 12 12 or ... 30 30 ;) you just worked all the way up to dropping. they'd have to use another form of hard removal, like polymorph or assassinate, possibly execute. Just my opinion though.
I don't think keeper of the grove will see much play now. If compared to spellbreaker you give up 2/1 in stats which is huge just for the option of it dealing 2 damage. If you would choose to run either of these cards now, you would probably do so as you're in need for a silence, which spellbreaker does better at.33
kripp. do you think there is a place in hearthstone for a more rng flip a coin style mechanic. I had the thought that a change to (for example bgh) battlecry could be a 50/50 chance for it to activate???
Well, renolock won't play molten for sure. Usually the game drags so long that i'm at jaraxxus form before i play the molten at all, and now it is impossible to play as jaraxxus.
+WannaComment2 exactly, but what they've done is removed the blue tac holding it together without even attempting to fix the broken class for the long term.
As kripp already said in the video, by nerfing master of disguise and bladeflurry they opened up a lot of design space for rouge. We'll see if blizzard makes something of it in the future, but for now this class is dead.
Pretty sure, I remember one of my first ever arenas before naxx/gvg came out and a guy whacked down 3 ragnaros on me turn after turn. I am not even mad. This also applies for all cards, I remembered getting like 5 swipes and 4 innervates once.
*Fandral Staghelm* is why the "choose one" cards are being nerfed. Imagine 7 mana 5/5, draw 2 cards and restore 5 health? or 4 mana 2/4, deal 2 damage and silence. etc. kinda makes since with that card added.
+DigiGolfer Obviously it won't. Or should Unstable Portal also get full dust value because it can create Leper Gnome? Or Desert Camel because it can summon Leper Gnome from your deck. Tomb Spider also needs to be dusted for full value because it can create Ironbeak Owl.
I heard there will be a shitty card called Am'gam Rager. What a joke!

That's what happened to my Murloc warlock deck after nax came out

+Krzysztof Piasek lol, its still going to see play that silence ability is powerful. the reason they added +1 to cost is to prevent its realiability in zoo many control decks will still run atleast one
+Krzysztof Piasek There's going to be so much late-game play in this expansion that silence is going to be pretty useful.
Blizzards definition of nerf is completely gimp the card.
+Ian Morris And BGH is playable as a tech card still
+WootmansayWOOT and yet they let BGH (the most broken card on that list) live because they're so fuckin' bad at game design
+Ian Morris but then there is a class that can bend almost every of your minion over and fuck it in the ass but no one is crying about that.
+Ian Morris amen.
+Indian Tech Support (priest)
I heard they are going to change a few card names too. The new names are Dust Roar, Force of Dust, Keeper of the Dust, Ancient of Dust, Dust Flurry, Master of Dust, Dust Juggler, Dust Golem, Dust Gnome and Big Dust Hunter. Sounds Preeety good.

Well wild mode still exists.
Ancient of Lore nerf was completely unnecessary.. You can't really do much with the cards you draw or already have unless you get innervate. Which is not all that likely.
Blade flurry was nerfed wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much
They nerfed Leper Gnome because Mekgineer Thermaplugg was overpowered.
WHY do they just destroy cards instead of nerfing slightly, seeing how it goes and acting again if needed?
Although I agree, Nerfing a card repeatedly would enable multiple full dusts refunds. Changing cards repeatedly in games like hearthstone or MTG will also annoy people because the value of the cards will fluctuate like crazy.
+MorningRoost because ben brode is an idiot that has no idea on how to balance a game
keeper of the grove should have been: 4 mana 2/2, choose one - Deal (3) damage; or silence a minion
Kripp if I have a golden BGH cuz I opened one then I can disechant it for 1600 dust? :O
Yup
Oh lord!!!!

+Commander_Pro Blizzard cares about the f2p community Kappa
+Commander_Pro lmao im so screwed in the weeks to come.

Who else is gaining hella dust after this? Lol
+ThatDudeWhoCares Yuuuuup
+ThatDudeWhoCares Kripp is prolly gaining more dust than anyone else
+ThatDudeWhoCares I calculated 2060 dusts for mine!

packed a golden fon
Kripp's happiness 12:24 I feel you bro
They should nerf magma rager
I lost it at "and you bet your ass I'll be playing that deck!" lmao
Why didn't they change the knife juggler so he shoots a knife whenever a minion is *played* instead of summoned.
because then you have no VIABLE counter to Leeroy
Kind sad to see Ancient of Lore get nuked. It was the first Epic I got from a pack (besides Shadowform, but that doesn't really count as a card so...)
Now I have alot of dust cuz my druid deck is completely disenchanted, thanks Blizzard

Ancient of Lore is a good example! Yes, drawing 2 was to good, but just nerfing it without giving the card something somewhere else just makes it useless. I don't think they're goal should be to lose out already used design space.

After they nerf, how much time do we have to disenchant the nerfed card for full dust, a week? a month?
2 weeks
You sure?, thank you.
This is not nerfing, this is a massacre xD
+RoberTG6 welcome to blizzard nerfs 101. remember warsong commander?
+zaxex21 Da fuck is that?
zaxex21 Yeah, completely shutted down Patron Warrior, thou that nerf was a bit needed, 80% of the decks were just that.
To be fair patron is still strong, just not the best deck hands down
Rastrisfrustreslos Gomez this isn't about patron. if they really wanted to stop patron just make it 2 attack minions instead of 3. its just that the people who are in charge of the nerfs clearly never plan to buff any cards ever so when blizzard hits something with the nerf stick its dead for good. these nerfs are so harsh these will never see play again
KJ will.
+XDthejulianXD and warsong according to be brode Kappa
Damn druid and Rogue got hit bad
I just want Blizzard to fix the card text on Molten Giant, because right now it reads "Costs (1) less for each damage your hero has taken." while its effect is "Costs (1) less for each health point your hero is missing". It's actually pretty significant, because the current phrasing implies that healing wouldn't increase the card's cost and transforming into Jaraxxus will literally make it unplayable once the nerf goes live.
Freeze mage and warrior are gonna be most op.
if warrior is more than 10% of the metagame, freezemage is unplayable
Jordan PM Klein
No warrior is going to be played more cause freeze mage is going to be the best deck out there xD.
+josh yocum no you don't understand. freezemage can NEVER be good. if it ever becomes good, everyone will play warior and kezan/ secret eater. then it will be shit. warrior AND freezemage can NEVER be good at the same time

why is kripp always 1 day late with the news?

Blizzard is REALLY fucking bad at nerfing cards
+Kripparrian you said that we must disenchant all the nerfed cards but some of the cards are still playable and eventually we have to craft them for the same cost so whats the logic ?

+Buzatu Mihnea You think you don't want zoo rogue, but you do.
They went overboard on blade flurry, I like the text change, but it should be 3 mana tops.
Arcane Golem should be a 4/5.
Even then, it wouldn't see play.
Bye bye to my two golden Arcane Golems.....fair trade for a new legendary.
+Roger Sullivan Couldn't they have been a bit more gentle. Like maybe give your opponent a mana crystal for one turn only damn.
Excalibursin Blizzard doesn't really do gentle when it comes to nerfs...they murder cards.
Most targets with more than 7 attack cost 5 or more. You can still combo BGH with something that buffs attack to remove things with under 7 attack. 5 mana for removal isn't bad considering you get a 'free' 4/2 on the board. BGH is still great value/tempo.
why isnt acient of lore just like a 5-7 or a 6-6 now. blizzard pls
+Cas Meijers Because then people might still play it, and Blizzard has a *very* long track record of nerfing cards such that they will never see play again.
They are very stupid
Just my opinion though.
aggro shaman is going to reck the meta
For some reason, the gorhowl is also 400 dust if dischanted. It didn't get nerfed right?
Master of Disguise is a HE, not her. read the flavor text.
ITS A TRAP!
+KnightSama Holy shit! My mind is blown! That really is an awesome disguise!
I don't think keeper of the grove will see much play now. If compared to spellbreaker you give up 2/1 in stats which is huge just for the option of it dealing 2 damage. If you would choose to run either of these cards now, you would probably do so as you're in need for a silence, which spellbreaker does better at.33
Rip in Pepsi Druid.
Why not coke
kripp. do you think there is a place in hearthstone for a more rng flip a coin style mechanic. I had the thought that a change to (for example bgh) battlecry could be a 50/50 chance for it to activate???
I don't think it's fair that cancer Druids get a full refund for their cancer
I may have missed something, what do you mean by this?
Cancer force of nature sav roar
But why is that a "full refund"
I am a sea lion Oh, after the patch lands, they can get a full refund on their cards.
Do you get full crafting dust back for disenchanting these nerfed cards?
+DxG Sutch Nevermind
SPELLBREAKER META INCOMING!!!! FUCKING HIDE!!!
I think the nerf to Master of Disguise was to prevent stealthing Bran while using all the new powerful battlecry minions (thinking of C'Thun).
Stealth BGH buff he wins more jousts now
Well, renolock won't play molten for sure. Usually the game drags so long that i'm at jaraxxus form before i play the molten at all, and now it is impossible to play as jaraxxus.
most people will get a legendary or 2 off these nerfs so thats good news.
+Connor Mraz Yeah, i'm probably gonna take his advice and dust most of them. I'm looking forward to a few legendaries, lol.
+Connor Mraz
Yea thats what I was looking at. I disenchant all these cards and honestly won't be hard to get many of them back. So free dust.
Proper sad about blade flurry, one of the cards that gives youa great board clear when you're in a dire situation or to finish your opponant
Cant wait to get all my dust from my golden ancient of lore i got from a pack. Legendary here i come!!!
kripp is it still worth to put iron beak owl in a zergy rush deck? or is it just better to get a spell breaker that has a decent body?
+Inbound Yes, in wild possibly, but obviously not in standard. You will be destroyed.
The fuck is that bladeflurry nerf. Liek blz plz wtf
they wanted to make the kind of same affect as shadowflame
Druid has other Options kind of but Rogue without oil and Flurry is just gone, Will Never been Seen ever again :D
+Rufus Barnes Bladeflurry is way more balanced like that. The big issue is that rouge is a shit class that needed the OP bladeflurry to win at all.
12:23 RIP in peace? So -> Rest in peace in peace! Alright kripp!
For BGH I was hoping they would swap the effect of BGH with Hemet's effect and just move Hemet in to the base set.
Unrelated question. Is it possible to draft 2 of the same legendary in arena? a guy just threw 2 renos at me and I thought it odd. thx.
+turnoniseered less likely as more expansions are added but possible. Computers are not the best at randomizing so flukes like that can happen.
Pretty sure, I remember one of my first ever arenas before naxx/gvg came out and a guy whacked down 3 ragnaros on me turn after turn. I am not even mad. This also applies for all cards, I remembered getting like 5 swipes and 4 innervates once.
hey krip. what are your thoughts on disencahnting all the gvg cards?
Does this disenchant bonus only work on crafted cards or will my own packed cards also disenchant for more?
I see people wrote: RIP combo druid... You don't understand, savage roar is the enabeler, they hit the wrong target
Will we get full dust values from disenchating Naxx cards as well?
*Fandral Staghelm* is why the "choose one" cards are being nerfed. Imagine 7 mana 5/5, draw 2 cards and restore 5 health? or 4 mana 2/4, deal 2 damage and silence. etc. kinda makes since with that card added.
+Knox Jr also *hobgoblin* and/or *Steward of Darkness* with *Leper Gnome*. Granted its a combo and not going to be the easiest to pull off
I think Owl will see more play in Handlock then anything else going forward, since turn 2 Ancient Watch, turn 3 Owl attack for 4 isn't a bad curve.
Does anyone know if Mekgineer Thermaplugg will disenchant for full value once the patch hits? Figured it would since Leper Gnome got nerfed.
