How to find inlay parameters. broinwood.com/products/how-i-am-finding-inlay-parameters If you don't like the music, please turn off the sound :) Thank you! Answers for some frequent question: It was incredibly complicated project for me. The board size is 42*22 inch. The board was made from walnut inlaid with maple. The time frame for a board like this is 4-5 weeks (if I'm not making other boards). I use a lot of different types of bits from 6 degrees to 90 degrees. In this project, I have used 1/8, 1/2, 1/4 flat nose, and 30-degree v bit, and 12.4 Ball Nose v bit (No name). Feed rate 40 ipm for V bit. Inlay depth 3mm or 0.11811 inch. For most projects, I use fusion 360, but also I use Ai, Vectric, Corel Draw, Inkscape, Ps. For finishing that board, I used Danish Oil. I love your comments and always read them! I just do not have enough time to answer all of them. Sorry:)
Looks awesome! I am always impressed with your videos and projects. I would love to see you make a how to video in the whole process from design to completion. I have Vectric software and have done some basic inlay, but would love to learn how you go about the process. Keep these wonderful videos coming! Motivates me to take more chances when building stuff for my family.
There's no question you do spectacular work. This Is as nice as anything I've ever seen made out of wood. I have learned a lot from watching you I'm pretty sure I've seen every one of the videos that you've uploaded I just wish that they came more often but after seeing how long it takes to do one like this I understand why they don't.
love the video. to save you time using x-acto knife get this and use in a drill. its fast and gets all the fuzzies out. 4 in. 150 Grit Nylon Abrasive Wheel with 1/4 in. Shank at harbor freight www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-150-grit-shaft-mounted-wheel-brush-91372.html
Sorry about the failure. No need to clamp just heavy weight on top. Thin wood will really warp as one side absorbs moisture be it glue or oil. Love your vids and crazy cool cnc designs. Would love to stop by and learn the cnc aspect from design someday when this covid goes away.. I'm in the same city as you.
I noticed one other guy on youtube also does CNC inlay. But he made a clamping table to set the inlays while they dry. might be something you'd be interested in to prevent such tragic loss of materials. the end result is beautiful, stunning sign
When I saw that the first attempt was wasted, I let out a loud "oh no"...twice. Like a gut punch? Anyway, you regrouped and produced possibly the most impressive inlay I've ever seen! Congratulations for your extreme skill, patience, and perseverance. Admiring your work from the Fort Knox area as I continue to improve my skills (I do the same exact work and even use the same cnc machine). I'm very curious to know what you don't like about the AR-8.
Ouch that wasted, that hurts. I had a wasted today also. I embossed a frog in a sign then went to engrave some words in it and the y axis moved to do another word and it chopped right through my dang frog. Ribbit. Wasted. So I feel your pain.
Can you briefly explain what happened with the first one? I have been watching your vids for a while now and I can’t remember you ever showing a fail or issue. Does that happen often or was this a one off? Your work is amazing and fun to watch.
For the first one I used wood glue. It is water based inlay just warped. My main mistake I didn't clamp pieces together. Usually I have not too much fails, just because between making boards I learn and test new ideas. As result almost no fail during work. Thank you
I thought the inlay was fantastic plus great to see someone not afraid to show the failures, Plus would you mind saying what the name of the music and who produced please, Very enjoyable visually and musically.
Such a shock to see "wasted" . I never expected the inlay to curl like that. Are you going to include a Pressing stage in future builds to prevent that while the glue dries? Amazing piece, you surpassed yourself on the size of the project. Many Congratulations on final success.
That’s just showing off modern day skills , with machines , that do the work, glue wood together, program a machine, wow, ..tippy tapptap, all fits, wow.....
Thanks for showing the mistake and explaining why it happened. You've inspired me to do some inlays, and I'm happy to report my first one completed and perfect! Admittedly much more simple than some you are doing (oak and mahogany, simple script), but I enjoy the inspiration from your work. Thank you!
Very cool typography and scrolling. Trying to understand what’s happening here. This is a cnc machine right? And you cut a negative in the walnut to receive the positive in maple, glue and send through a huge planer? Very creative use of technology, amazing results.
Amazing Job. What was the decision to do a straight sided inlay on the second one vice the vcarve inlay of the first one. Also what was the glue you were using on the second one? Epoxy maybe?
Unbelievable work! I gasped when I saw the Wasted. What was the carve time on a piece that large? Having to do it twice must have been a huge time drain. Fantastic outcome!
how do you clean up the corner of your pockets (difference in your 1/8'' dia. tool and the v-groove bit) i have noticed that fusion 360 does not handle "rest machining" very well for this, do u manually create geometry that tells the vgroove what area in corners is should clean out?
I have that lamelo machine (biscuit cutter), did you have to completely set it up when you got it? I did. it was horrible when i first got it. how is your bit life? How long are your bits lasting?
Great job sir! I'm assuming you used epoxy on the 2nd glue up, is this correct? Also what did you use to provide enough clamping pressure for something this large? Thanks and again, beautiful work!
I'm very new to cnc stuff, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Is there a reason you can't or don't use a down cut bit to eliminate the fraying at the top edge of the cut? That's what I would do if I was using a hand router, but I don't know if it would work for this.

Massive. Pretty impressed with the fit on such a large piece. Super clean like it's the vector drawing printed except better. Excellent work.

Nice, but almost impossible to read what the sign says.
The work is mighty impressive, however the design does make it almost impossible to read, it's just too busy
almost? what does it say? I can't read it.
Absolutely stunning! Very excited to see your work.
This is ART not work, congratulation it is fantastic.......SUPER BRAVO

Awesome!
Magnificent! Perfect combination of technology and skill.
It really was
That's an impressive piece of work. Clamping/pressing the 2 species together must have been a nightmare. End result -- W O W ! ! !

Very nice! Look at MTmwood at his press for inlays might help you. Also could you do a video talking about your CNC? Thanks
That's a beautiful piece of art
Music is good
Work is amazing
Sad to see the failure, but that keeps you human😁
Can't wait for the next video!!!

Try using dental tools for deburring, cleaning and touching up the crevices after the CNC routing.
Sehr schöne Arbeit! Sehe gern diesen Kanal.
Incredible as always. You are the masters of your craft. Do you ever get gaps between the pocket and the inlay? If so, how do you resolve?
Thank you. No gaps, just make both sides fit exactly
That’s the most complex inlay I’ve seen. Very impressive!
What brand clamp rack / carrier are you using starting around 1:03?
10/10
Beau travail 👍

Hi, beauutiful work!, I'd like to Know what kind of CNC you are using and software. Thank you!
how do you clean up the corner of your pockets (difference in your 1/8'' dia. tool and the v-groove bit) i have noticed that fusion 360 does not handle "rest machining" very well for this, do u manually create geometry that tells the vgroove what area in corners is should clean out?
That sh*t is tight af !! 🤟🏽 do you have any tutorials coming out by any chance ?
What does the sign say?
Watch your channel a lot. I saw your panel clamp.. did you make it or buy it. I'm looking for one for my self
I love my panel clamps. I bought them.
I have that lamelo machine (biscuit cutter), did you have to completely set it up when you got it? I did. it was horrible when i first got it. how is your bit life? How long are your bits lasting?
Awesome work , as always ! I have to ask !! How much did you price that job for? If u can't say I understand. Thanks
Great job sir! I'm assuming you used epoxy on the 2nd glue up, is this correct? Also what did you use to provide enough clamping pressure for something this large? Thanks and again, beautiful work!
You right for the second attempt I used epoxy and clamped the sign to table just in case.
Thank you.
Do you know of any species of wood similar in color to blue?
What glue did you use in the second pass? Since it was from a red cup, my guess is switched to a two part epoxy.
correct it was epoxy
Oof I was just thinking "hey wouldn't it suck if they had to redo it from scratch"
Does it say Foroshiloy?
Nice video! But did you spray water on the side board before glueing? What for? Thanks
What happened to the first slab?
Could you also make the Ottoman Empire crest?
? How much for a small chopping box

Down cut bit is the one to use - I always get clean edges that don't need any cleanup. Works 100% in a cnc router
how long did that tool path take with the 15 degree v-bit?
what degree Vbit do you use for your inlay?
Hi Nik, you do this as a hobby or way of living?
Check out MTM wood, he makes similar boards, he made a press so he would not have failures like this. Beautiful work by the way.
Which software do you?
Even with the sound turned off I can still feel the shitty music playing
Muito bom
5:30 did you thin glue with water? Muting sound sucks btw. Woodworking shop sounds are the best music.
What was wrong with the first one?
Glue and fiber tension made the wood warp and separate. He may not be using a press to hold his inlays in.
What does it say?
An upcut bit for that type of job is such a stupid idea.....

i can't even read it lol
The cost to build that must have been thousands of $$$ I couldn't imagine how much it was sold for. I wonder who gets it in the divorce?
Just saying right tool for the job doesn’t need sanding, just saying. Sorry sharp right Tooling needs no sanding, my thoughts,
you didn't make anything your machine made it lol
