  • What is Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive? How does Subaru Symmetrical AWD work?
    Subaru Symmetrical AWD continuously shifts power to the wheels that have more traction from the wheels that don't, giving you better control and balance on the road. Subaru Symmetrical AWD also helps correct the problems of oversteer and understeer when maneuvering through tricky conditions such as wet roads.

    Just bought my 2013 Forester XT and loving it. Just recently did a Invidia Exhaust upgrade and I'm in love with the well familiar Subie Rumble from the Boxer engine. The feel of road dominance with the Symmetrical All Wheel Drive is something to experience

    "Continuously shifting power" insinuates active front and rear diffs or something similar, which is not the case. They're just normal open diffs, and the traction control to applies brakes to individual wheels when they spin. There's a big difference between that and saying "it continually shifts power to the wheels that have more traction"

    • @johnbowie4869
      @johnbowie4869 2 года назад +1

      But does act4 always have certain power to the rear, or does it act like other clutch systems that only links when needed? Subaru says it will always have around 40% power to the rear axle, but one of my friend who works as a mechanic says that isn't true, it will only send around 20% otherwise it would burn very quickly

    Instantaneous throttle response is a stretch, your electric throttle body takes like half a second to register anything. But everything else was good. Love the “educational” videos.

      electric throttle bodys have instant response in most cars must be another reason

    Please make the 2021 WRX/STI look closer to the early 1990s/2000s Impreza makes and away from the bloated car trend. Keep that rally heritage strong.

      I think they were forced to "inflate" the body styling to accommodate more rigorous updated safety regulations; they need that space for side impact door strength and airbags everywhere.

    Recent buy of 2020 Outback......love it, BUT whats with the automatic off/on for the engine.
    I know I can turn it off when I get in the car...and I do, its ANNOYING...BUT why do I have to do it EVERY TIME..... Had a 2014 BMW with the same crap and could turn it off indefinitely.
    Please SUBARU ...come up with a fix for this.

    Funny that in a 2020 video they used the XT Turbo and not the so called sport model.

    • @tommymas1
      @tommymas1 4 года назад +3

      That's cause the 2018 Forester XT Touring is the bomb. I have exact same vehicle.

    • @Edelhif

      I was thinking the same. How dare they are to use an XT Forester that they don't produce anymore.

      I have and love my 2015 XT and also have an Ascent. Wife does not like outback so unless Subaru makes a turbo forester might have to look at Mazda or Tesla.

    Since the spare tire is not the same size as the other tires, you need to convert from AWD to front wheel drive. If this is not done, the differential will be damaged.

    • @CAPTAINTUFA
      @CAPTAINTUFA Год назад +3

      spare tire is for emergency not day to day. Not only that you will destroy your diffs if you have mismatched tires. Tires shouldn't have more then 3/32 of differences in tread depth

  • @elusivellama

    This explanation didn't explain anything about the various types of symmetrical AWD available from Subaru. There's VTD, viscous coupling, the advanced system on the STI, etc.
    Totally useless video.
