Trash pandas. Naughty, but so darn cute. Thank you for treating them so humanly. I know how crappy it is to lose all of your hard work to these guys, but I really appreciate the way you treat them (and all of the other animals in your yard). I love your content. Good luck!
Your the best!! You don't want to separate the mom from her cubs!!! You have no idea how happy I was to hear that!! Seriously all other utubers need to watch your channel and learn something about being a hum⁸an and dealing with animals sharing!!!
My coworker has done the same thing. They eat with her cats. She came home and one of them was in her kitchen came in through the doggie door. In the area I live in they are not afraid of humans, people feed them at a local affiliated drive in store. You would not believe its about 20 of them being feed by folks who stop to eat at the store.
Here in Australia we have possums which are just as wiley as your mama raccoon. And the possums happen to live in my roof. She’s made friends with my cats so they’re no help. We use bird netting on our fruit and veg plants at night. It looks very similar to your tulle netting. We just drape them over the plants each evening and remove in the morning. Bless you for being compassionate and not wanting to hurt them. I’m the same with our unwanted house guests, they make me crazy but would never harm them. Good luck.
We have Possums too, plus deer, plus bear, plus woodchucks...plus, plus, plus. My garden was completely destroyed this year, electric fence is going up!
Looks like it's time to put up an electric fence. Some people I know live out in the country & they plant sacrificial plants seperate from their garden near the woodland where the animals come through. It helps keep the critters out of their main garden. Good luck!
Isn't an electric fence cruel? Seems like the amount of electricity needed to keep deer or even a big raccoon out would really hurt squirrels and smaller animals.
Wow! I am amazed at the variety of wildlife around your area. Raccoons are very tenacious to say the least. I find if I put out a daily bowl of my cat's kibble for them, they seem to leave my garden alone. Go figure. Good luck with the tulle fabric to keep them out.
It's pronounced "tool". I got a chuckle out of the porch scene after you said you didn't know how they were getting in. They're very smart. If you don't secure the fabric around the plants well enough, they may go underneath it. I'd just invest in a portable electric fence.
Good evening BubbleBeet; Wow, that is one determined mother and her cubs. She is relentless about coming for a free meal. I learned something from this video. I have tons of cherry tomatoes on the ground but I thought it was from the heat and brutal humidity. 72 tomato plants that completely took over all the raised beds. Will not do that again. I even have a row of the larger tomatoes but they are so soft they taste horrible but I noticed they aren't being taken. This was the year I purchased a variety of seeds with the hopes I would find a new favorite. Next year, it will be only my two favorite varieties and I plan to add netting overtop my crops. The mocking birds have destroyed my grape harvest. Very disappointed because I had so many bunches of grapes. I see my black beauty is hanging close to home. Thanks for the great video.
You are a wonderful compassionate man.... bless you. I told you the racoons would be pissed after harvesting the grapes. They certainly got even with you. Now on to the next invention keeping them out.
I think they are thirty. I know the squirrels eat tomato's when they are thirty. The solution my neighbor did was put a bird bath so the squirrels could have water and they no longer eat my tomato's or my neighbor's.
I put tulle over my strawberries in my greenstalk and something ate the berries right through the tulle. I plan to make a large box with screening around it to cover my greenstalk.
Your garden is beautiful, but like my chickens, we care and work so much that ends being the most expensive produce /eggs ever! I’m in SW Florida, starting my seedlings for our garden season today! Thanks for the solar oven tutorial, I’m building it!
Those crafty raccoons. They can sure cause a lot of damage. I had them dig up my pepper plants a few days after I planted them. You can pick every tomato off that is even starting to turn and let them ripen in the kitchen. I thought you have a motion detected sprinkler. Time to put up some hotwire. You could put some at 6 and 12 inches from the bottom and a couple more close to the top (about 4-6 inches away from the fence). We have to hotwire our garden to protect our 350+ pineapples when they ripen. Next year those babies will have families and will likely remember all the goodies in your garden and come back. Looking forward to seeing more great videos. Thanks. Colleen in Central Florida.
I had to put netting up around my raised bed because a raccoon took one of my large tomatoes. Mostly I have cherry tomatoes. And so I was waiting on these three to get to their full size so I could harvest it the minute they started to blush. Came back, one was completely gone. Wrapped the other two in netting. Came back, bites marks in the remainder and my Amish tomato was gone. I have to finish wrapping the rest of the raised beds in netting but had to stop because of rain. But they got me in my back porch garden too, taking the tomatoes there too. So gotta cover them too.
As pesky as these adorable little devils are, I always appreciate your humane attempts at dealing with the locals, you're a pretty awesome guy. I'm sure you'll figure something out to keep the plants safe. Also I wish I liked peppers, every time I see them in your videos they look amazing, but I just can't stand the taste 😂
Tulle (pronounced “tool”) goes over the plants. I guess somebody else probably covered that already, but I just remembered I hadn’t commented so I popped in. Watched the video yesterday. I love your videos. I am subbed to Funbubble too. 😁
I have heard that mixing pine sol (original pine scent not the other ones) with water and spraying it around the garden fence works. They don't like the strong smell. I have also heard that 100% pure peppermint oil mixed with water and a little dish soap (make sure to shake the mixture) works similarly. Hope this helps.
crazy little monsters.....we have them too. I haven't tried it but I hear tulle works best cause they feel like they're getting trapped in it. I enjoy watching how you make your salads. Please share how you make your zuchinni or other squash. Thankyou!
well this would be costly but 100% sure fire way to stop them is to build a large fruit cage over the whole plot we dont have racoons in the uk but we have fox rabbit badgers and so on i had to use a giant cage to protect my veg long ago it worked a treat
true, ive seen a guy that made an entire cage around his garden, ceiling and all. his purpose was to keep birds from pecking at his veggies, but itd work for the raccoons too. thx
@@BubbleBeet think its the only way your going to stop them short of culling the population and i know you dont want that so a cage over the whole plot is the best idea i think but as i say costly
That is the only thing that really works - not hurting other creatures and letting the pollinators in. Tulle works but too time consuming to wrap and unwrap--which you have to do during harvesting and which is also the only time the critters are a threat. Also, the least little opening and critters will lind it and it will trap birds, butterflies and bees. A wire cage and planting sacraficial "offerings" nearby is peace of mind!
Perhaps a wildlife garden? Plant some for nature and some for you? I did this with my garden and it worked for awhile, till they ate everything and moved over to mine 😆
I was watching a cook Ethan (?) would place his cherry tomatoes between 2 quart lids and slice a bunch at once that way ... I thought it was cook, hope its useful
My goal is to move to the country and have the biggest garden ever…but like 😑 the critters 😝 how do farmers do it without the critters 😳. Your garden always impresses me 🥰
I use tulle on my plants, especially on my peas, but I use it ON the plant. Like wrap my plant with the tulle so critters won't get to them. So far so good. My enemies are rabbits, squirrels and birds.
You're awesome. Thanks for being considerate of the critters. You are very clever!!!! Also you've given me a great idea with a game camera. I need to know what's getting my stuff. I have fenced in also. Also, I heard having lights in the garden will keep them away. Also, did you try urinating around the spots? That worked in another situation I had a year ago where a raccoon pooping behind my air conditioner. It worked.
Too cute. Sorry they are destroying those beautiful tomatoes. I think raccoons are too heavy and big for tulle. Possibly the overhang or something like what they use to keep cats inside their gardens - a fence that overhangs the side where the animal is. It bends outward. Raccoons are smart though, so not sure whether even that would work on them. Possibly a solar-powered, battery-backup electric line along the top of the fence?
Wow those raccoons are greedy. It was nice of you to consider the whole family by not trapping and displacing the mother. I don't know if that would work anyway, though, because there are so many of them... you'd have to trap them all. That's gotta be frustrating, though, I hope you find a way to keep them out.
Place tulle around your entire tomato plant not on the fencing. I’d put on all of your tomato plants that they are getting to. I think that’s your best bet and your plants can still get sun and grow underneath
I don't know how it works but I think I saw one time there's a sensor you can put for movement in the garden and when it does go off could have a sprinkler go off when it senses movement.
One thing that I have found in my garden is bird netting even the cats and wildlife around my area do not like to touch it or climb it maybe that's something you could try
Wow, can't believe the raccoon was on top of the tomato plants like that. Maybe time to get a dog, lol!😁🦮 Or s hotwire fence. 😉 Nice dehydrated grape tomatoes!
You need a German Shepherd 🤣 They don't physically harm smaller animals, but definitely scare them off. Some time ago, I adopted a German Shepherd from a rescue here, in Virginia, and the problem with racoons around my house disappeared. Here is the story: I also had a cat - before the dog came to live with me, and the cat was wild - she tried to fight a family of racoons, who, as it turned out, found the way into the house through the cat's trapdoor in the basement. To eat the cat's food - emptied the dispenser in one day, and I could not understand what happens - why my cat suddenly eats so much 😬So, when I brought the dog - she was 9 month old puppy. The cat met her aggressively at first, so fearing that the dog might lose her eyes, I kept the basement door closed, for the cat to come home to eat whenever she wanted and not communicate with the dog. The first night racoons showed up, in the middle of the night, the dog could not get into the basement - but she made such a commotion that I ran down and opened that door - and a couple of fat racoons were there eating cat's food! They got out through the trap door when the dog jumped them, and that was the last I saw them. Never came back, not even to sort through the garbage outside!
They like your garden very much as all of us!)))) I am using natural essential oil’s spray around my garden. It works well. But I never had that massive attack)))
like with those corner frames, i'd get some 1X to frame up a roll of 24 x 50 (or 2) of trim coil for windows. make a big T wall they can't get over. 3/16" steel rods in a chunk of 2 x 4 for support... ...or i might just end them. it's food, man. will a raccoon eat a raccoon? i might. i might eat a raccoon. especially one that's been eating fresh veggies from my darn garden!
I'm afraid their nails will go right through that tulle no matter how you have it and their not scared of it at all. You will probably have to do something severe (not death) or just let them have the plants. 😔
If it’s super dry out, I’m sure they are trying to get water from your fruit and tomatoes. Might be good to put out some water for your yard critters! We have the same issue up north this year Also, do you have a video about your rain barrel system? How do you water with it? Just fill your watering can? Or do you have a pump to get the water down there?
hi, The water comes out by gravity into the tub, then i fill watering cans. i made a couple videos on the rain barrels. they are from a few years ago on my channel. thx
Raccoons are cute but such pests. I wonder if they would be deterred by automatic sprinklers? I’ve had success chasing deer off with motion activated sprinklers.
What are the name of those big red peppers? I have been dealing with raccoons too. They have been tearing up my garden. I am like you . Harvesting as much food as I can. Good luck with the raccoons
Hey Bubblebeet, I have an idea, it may sound extreme, but what about sheet rocking outside of the fencing? Their little claws will have nothing to grip onto because of the smoothe surface. Or, the thick plastic that is used for greenhouses.
@@BubbleBeet oh your right, I didnt think of that & yes I'd want to see inside also & so your working on something thats great! I hope its a success, I've learned so much from you about gardening & you are so very appreciated. Thank you.
@@BubbleBeetIm sure you know this but you can buy smaller output ones that dont cost too much, maybe 50-60 bucks....and with only one line ran, it might be worth the investment that will last for years. and on a good note, typically a cat can sense when the fence is hot so you wouldnt have to worry about your cat. 🙂
hi, the only thing that has worked in years past is trapping and releasing. The trail cameras are all sorts of different brands, but i like Ceyomur, Bushnell, Browning, Apeman, Vantop. even low priced ones are good nowadays

😉 Nice dehydrated grape tomatoes!
a solar fence about a foot or more up. Wrapped about 3" out from the fence. They won't be able to climb over it or under without being shocked.
looks like you're going to have to electrify that after all. Zap em right off the top
Use 6mm green house cover around the fence. I am hoping it will work.
Ok...that motion detector sprinkler maybe? Or a motion detector air horn!!
Buy yourself a dog, and keep him outside in a doghouse at night during summertime.
Build a fence around your garden, and let the dog roam free.
Những quả cà chua bi thật tuyệt vời
I'm afraid their nails will go right through that tulle no matter how you have it and their not scared of it at all. You will probably have to do something severe (not death) or just let them have the plants. 😔
If it’s super dry out, I’m sure they are trying to get water from your fruit and tomatoes. Might be good to put out some water for your yard critters! We have the same issue up north this year
Also, do you have a video about your rain barrel system? How do you water with it? Just fill your watering can? Or do you have a pump to get the water down there?
hi, The water comes out by gravity into the tub, then i fill watering cans. i made a couple videos on the rain barrels. they are from a few years ago on my channel. thx
Lovely tomatoes 🍅
Good luck. So far it is raccoons 10 homeowner 0. The secret is to harvest every day before it gets dark. Good luck
Cheeky buggers!! LOL!!
Motion sensor lights and a ruger 10/22 with a red dot
Just wondering what you use the dehydrated tomatoes in? Those raccoons really don't want to leave do they....
hi, i add the dried tomatoes to soups in the winter. they rehydrate in the liquid. thanks
@@BubbleBeet how are you storing the jar of dried tomatoes?
I think he seriously needs to purchase a home freeze dryer! I love mine 💕…. and all his harvest would last 25-30 years!!!
@@BubbleBeet what brand/model of food dehydrator do you use?
A small electric charge to the fence would do the job and won't harm them
Raccoons are cute but such pests.
Marconi peppers
hi, yes the name is Giant Marconi. thanks
Jesus man seening the raccoons do that to your tomatoes gets my blood boiling
Hey Bubblebeet, I have an idea, it may sound extreme, but what about sheet rocking outside of the fencing? Their little claws will have nothing to grip onto because of the smoothe surface. Or, the thick plastic that is used for greenhouses.
hi, yes that is good idea. thing i dont like about it tho is i cant see inside the garden. im trying a new method that seems to work so far.
@@BubbleBeet oh your right, I didnt think of that & yes I'd want to see inside also & so your working on something thats great! I hope its a success, I've learned so much from you about gardening & you are so very appreciated. Thank you.
If you buy cougar urine and drop it on cotton balls around the perimeter they will leave.
I thought this was a fence video not a cooking show
Cayenne pepper everywhere
Have you thought about installing a electric wire at the top?
1:55 is my favorite
What about plastic sheeting instead?
I think you need to do the electric fence and shock them
that might be the next step, thanks. bummer that it costs a couple hundred bucks tho
Тут разве что колючая проволока поможет. По верху и вдоль столбиков
I am having the same problem and I, honestly, do not know what to do...If you do not mind me asking, what kinds of cameras are you using?
hi, the only thing that has worked in years past is trapping and releasing. The trail cameras are all sorts of different brands, but i like Ceyomur, Bushnell, Browning, Apeman, Vantop. even low priced ones are good nowadays
what do you use the dried tomatoes for?
Cover the tomatoes with the fabric
Cut too the Chase
AFTER ALL THAT WORK NEED TO ADD MORE AS RACCOONS CAN CLIMB. DON"T THINK THAT WILL STOP THEM UNLESS ELECTRIFIED OR GET A GUARD DOG
Try covering the tomato plants.
A feral dog
It's for the plants
not for the fence
Нужен электропастух 😉
👍🐱
I like racoons
What kind of peppers are they?
the big red peppers are called Giant Marconi
Please send me the bill for whatever they dine on. 😊
I hate raccoons! They are too clever.
May bi you need a dog (Такса ) +🐱 German badger-dog
