My mum and dad used to sing to this when i was growing up, sadly i lost my beautiful dad in october 2021 but when i listen to the platters i feel so close to him❤ im here listening to the platters in 2022 as i appreciate good music i know i was blessed, thank you to the platters❤
My grandma, who is 87 now, loved this song so much when she was younger and always sang a part of it but didn't know how it's called. I finally found it for her,she is so happy
ruclips.net/video/cCJ1JKFKRY4/видео.html I love the Platters, but I never heard a "conjunto vocal" do the harmonies these guys do (other than in Boleros, of course.. but even then)
I'm 19 and I started adores the platters since I was 5-6.I feel like I'm a detective from 60's while listening categories of songs like this.time flies.
I’ll never know what does this lyrics mean “You’ll know the used to me That I was before You’ll see the used to be That once you did adore” Does that make sense for anybody who speaks English?
Native speaker here, and I would actually spell it "the used-to me" to make it clearer that he's saying it like an adjective. So it basically means, like the next line says, the person he used to be. He's hiding his true feelings, my guess that he's fallen out of love with this lady or maybe he's in love with someone else. "If you guess it, I'll confess, or else you'll never know."
@@jamiemarten2928 I think this song is about a guy who has a friend and he has a change of feelings for her. But he doesn't want to confess those feelings for some reason (the girl has someone already, he doesn't want to ruin their friendship...etc) So he asks for a green light, a hint, for him to confess his love.
“You’ll know the used to me, That I was before", "used to me" is more like what you're "used to" or "comfortable with", for example: a close friend or even family. So he's saying "You'll know "The used to me" (what you are comfortable with, a close friend for example), That I was before". "You’ll see the used to be, That once you did adore”, "used to be" is more like "the person I was/or person they were", for example: someone you thought was a friend or harmless/innocent person but wasn't, so realizing that person isn't what you thought they were, "That you adore". IMO it's a person trying to let their close friend know that they care for them more than a friend, but they "will never know it" or confess it until that person realizes he isn't the same person they thought he was, so until the person guesses right they will keep teasing them/dropping hints("Oh, darling now's the time to plot") but keep it a secret by not showing any kind of emotions, like crying, glancing at them, or weakening when speaking to them. Edit: Just realized it's probably a song about a guy trying to get out of the friend zone lol.
This song is really entitled "You'll Never, Never Know", issued in 1956. The flip side is "It Isn't Right". both sides charted. "You'll Never Know" is an entirely different song. But the Platters recorded that tune on one of their albums as well with Tony Williams on lead.
So wonderful to hear a beautiful voice unmangled by autotune.
*The Platters' vocals, especially lead vocalist Tony Williams, are full of emotion and sophistication, making it unforgettable for listeners*

O mais afinado conjunto vocal da América, que uniu à perfeição o blues e o jazz - e até o rock. Não existe nada parecido hoje.
