Nice video! It really did open my mind! I was just going for a little walk to the papierbakken and saw a lot of crap along the way. Since i was holding little Luukie i coudn't pick it up but I think with my next walk i will take a garbage bag with me!
Another great vid. Most trash isn't so obvious, just waiting in the open to be picked up. I will definitely will make a better effort to keep an eye out for hidden trash next paddle... just without the pink bin. lol
Awesome, I just bought my first kayak, I will try to make it a habit to pick up trash I see along the way. I live near the 'Molenplas', you might know where this is :p I'll do my best to keep our waters clean :D
Noice; First, good video, paddling in your new kayak, and making the world a better place! Though I would like to hammer home; it's not up to us. We (at least those at the club) happily help pick up trash and clean after ourselves, but we don't have massive factories and the sole goal to make short term money. It's up to society to punish companies for not using alternatives and organizations for just dumping trash. And the best way is via the law, fines and jail time (even for CEOs and maybe even share holders). So the 'up to us' part is purely voting for the right politicians and parties. Don't let companies fool you into thinking this is somehow your fault, that you somehow had any say in it whatsoever. Why do you think it was BP that came up with the term 'carbon footprint'? To shift blame. Still do pick up trash (we do it too), it just lying there isn't helping anyone, but real action would be to have the laws *meaningfully* amended.
I definitely agree companies can, and should, make a difference! And on emission and production we are 100% on the same page. However I think we are talking about a different issue here. All the trash I picked up was undoubtedly simply dumped in the canal by people (judging by the monster energy cans and vodka bottles, kids probably). Companies should use alternative packaging materials, but people shouldn't throw their empty cans, bottles and wrappers in the canal in the first place. I just hope one day we don't even have to worry about it! But I love the fact there is an argument starting, there is talk, there is action. And however we battle this. Let's battle this!
@@PaddlinDutchman Oh you are definitely right and if I hadn't re-written the comment about 5 times because I just didn't want to sound negative on your video (especially since it *is* a good message), I probably wouldn't have accidentally axed the line where I said one should definitely pick up after themselves. Whoopsie :P And I do want to re-iterate, I'm not against the message in this video in the slightest, the problem I see is that 'everybody' has this message and for every time this message goes out, the message that as consumers we have virtually no say in the overwhelming amount of ways modern society screws the world over doesn't go out. Meanwhile corporations are happy to say that they're doing their best. Or sponsor or even create TV shows where people travel as green as possible etc. But as I said, those are misdirections. We have to demand that governments lay down strict rules for corporations and that they are both strictly tested and violators are punished. Not a fine that would be akin to you misplacing a 5 cent coin, but fines that actually hurt the company. Jail time for CEOs and maybe investors. "I just hope one day we don't even have to worry about it!" Well, we can dream :D
@@PaddlinDutchman Btw, shouldn't you be out and paddling? I swear my phone gave the "Paddlin' Dutchman liked your comment" notification even *before* I clicked submit on my previous comment xD

That would be epic!!

But the pink bin is what makes it fun! 😂😂
Great job, so much trash enters into our waterways.
Yeah right! Glad to be able to help out a little!

Epic!! Yes it’s really near by 😄 so I might actually see you on the water some time 💪
