I agree wholeheartedly, old hymns are absolutely wonderful! I just wish people would stick to the original timing and tune. It can take me a lot of time to internalize a song, and if I hear it done wrong, everyone else has a hard time singing along. (Well, that might not be entirely the fault of the performer but it does help when I learn it right.)
