This song came out the same year that mine passed away, he was really sick too, for a long time, but he never let his illness define him, his wife, my grandmother died at the end of 2022, I think of them daily and whenever I hear that verse I get bleary eyed...

Dude, who ever even said that? Hip hops been in Aus nearly as long as in the US, probably since before you were born. This guy's famous because he hits all the points on the pop mainstream checklist, and isn't threatening in the slightest.

Yes, it is a good thing. In the golden age of hip hop people did it for the love of the culture. They knew it wasn't going to be a mainstream success, and so made good music they liked instead of what they think will be popular to teenagers. The rappers in the the US getting paid the most money also make the shittest hip hop.
Kids these days see hip hop as a "career", and think they're going to be paid or not have to have a real job as well. 360 is a perfect example of this mindset.
