This was a great video. Your husband is such a sweet fellow and a true romantic! Thanks for the info .... he spoke about keeping the passengers updated....we always love when the pilot comes on and lets know the route we will be flying, what cities we are passing over, etc. If it is a clear day we love to look out the window to see the sights below and know where we are!

Yes the route I used to fly to South Africa would often take us over Antartica which I always want to see but only twice has a pilot announced it. Now I ask the flight attendants to let me know.

The story about his mom leaving him is so sweet. Before 9/11 (I was a college kid) I would go to the airport gate area to watch the airplanes take off and land. I'm not a pilot. I don't know anything about planes. I'm just mesmerized with their ability to take people places in the air. It's fascinating to me.

My Dad was a commercial pilot. It’s a hard job. My Brother was also a commercial pilot. His irritation was when passengers are walking and they stop in their tracks in front of him. I reminded him that they pay his mortgage.

@Jamie K Carney - Well I have to agree with your brother and has little to do with whether they’re paying his motor not. Just as a passenger I see people doing similar as they operate in the “ME ONLY” zone. We all need to be cognizant of others as they’re also trying to get to their destinations.

So fun to watch this. Been flying as an airline pilot for over 20 years now, and I think my answers would be quite similar to what he has said. I spent many years flying passengers, but went cargo during the pandemic, and absolutely love it. Far more relaxed IMHO. Spent many years on the A320, and absolutely love that airplane. Really am enjoying the 747 though.

I was on a flight to Florida about 20 years ago and we had to fly through hurricane remnants. The pilot warned us that it would be a bumpy ride. About 3/4 of the way into the flight he announced everyone seated with seatbelts. He said there was no way around it just had to go through it. The turbulence was so bad coffee pots were falling and passengers were crying. I asked a business passenger next to me if this was normal. He said this is excessive. I was so scared! I suddenly thought let’s have fun with this. So when the plane would drop I’d throw my arms up like on a roller coaster and go woo hoo! When we landed the pilot came on the intercom and said now you don’t need to ride the rides at the theme parks as you already rode them. True story!
