Aretha ! The voice of all voice !. As much as I love other great artists such as Whitney, Sarah Vaughn, Barbara Streisand, Patti, Billie Holiday, Ella, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Donny Hathaway, Luther, Peabo Bryson and other greats, all fabulous but Aretha in her prime had a voice that words could not describe . No one before or since could touch her and that says alot because there were/are many great singers. Her voice was the voice of us all !

I am 33 years old and this is the first Aretha franklin song that I remember ever hearing; I was 3 or 4 year old. Omg I mother used to sing this song all of the time. And I remember asking my mother what is the name of this song and she would say "simply Y-O-U" lol so the word you was the first word that I ever learned how to spell, then RESPECT!!!

I aint gotta say nothing you said it all. Natalie just didn't have it. She was only good for a couple of hits and the rest of her career she was just Nat's Daughter and she coasted off of his fame.

@@ronwilliams717 Naw, y'all aint gon' do that to Natalie! Let me just say, I'm a HUGE Aretha fan. She's top tier of my greatest vocal inspirations, however, to say Natalie "coasted" off her dad, let's me know you are either unfamiliar with, or don't appreciate her early catalog. Natalie was a sho nuff singer in her own right, Imo. She sang down! That's my experience. My opinion.

@@ericking8661 I only like her early stuff from inseparable to her thankful album her first albums were the cut. Yes but after that I really could care less for her. To me she fell off by the early 80s . I just never thought she was that good. I dont miss her. Her dad yes he was definitely legendary but that's my opinion I'm still upset about Vesta Williams she didn't make it that big but I thought she had a whole lot of talent

Natalie didn't try to do it, she recorded it first and most critics agreed there was no need for Aretha to come behind Natalie because had already put it down and they were already calling Natalie the new queen of soul. Natalie went on to win the grammy by the way over Aretha.

I don't know if people know or remember but Aretha's version of You charted while Natalie's didn't. This song went to number 15 on the R&B charts for Aretha. Also, this song was written for Aretha in mind. Marvin and Chuck wanted to record an album with Aretha, including This will Be. She turned it down, except for You. Said it sounded too much like stuff she did, so they got Natalie and the rest is history. If you listen to the intro to This will be it sounds like Aretha's you send me.

    • @trinity8383
      @trinity8383 6 лет назад

Lol Aretha gave old experience woman version but Natalie was riding her wave as the sophisticated lady she's a different lady and comes across more believable...every critic of the day gave this one to Natalie....Aretha even named her album You...Natalie still got the Grammy.

Hey, baby. You know, I realize that I don't tell you just how much I appreciate you sometimes, although I do think it and I do feel it. And since I do, I think right now would be a mighty good time to just stop right here and now and do this, just for you
Yes, I do... I'm doin' it for you, baby...
You been with me through the hardest times
And you've kept my body, heart, and soul, and mind together...
    You, you, oh, you...
    Yeah, yeah...
And it's been us two against the world
And it ain't been easy, but we sho' made it together, baby
Thanks to you, to you, oh, you...
Oh, and I just wanna say baby, oh, baby, I love you...
And oh, baby, oh, baby, I love you, yes I do... yeah...
I get a chill, and I always will
Every time I think about every little thrill
    Of wanting you, touching you, calling you;
    You know I do...
    And oh, yeah....
And it may not be... it may not be necessary
    But ooh-wee, I sure think that you're extra-ordinary
Thanks to you, to you, thanks to you, baby...
    And oh... oh...
Thanks to you, baby, every day, you... I'm talkin' 'bout you, yeah...
Every, every, every day, you... you're pretty special to me, baby...
    I'm talkin' 'bout you...
Yeah! Yeah, you, baby... I'm talkin' 'bout you, now... Nobody but you...
Oh! Oh, oh! You, baby... I'm talkin' 'bout you, now... I'm doin' it just for you...
Hey! Hey, every day, you, yeah... I'm doin' it for you, baby... I'm singin' it just for you...
Oh, you, baby... you, baby... for nobody but you...
Every, every day, you, now... yeah, you, baby... I'm doin' it just for you...

Oh!! Wow what!! a giant of a talent, very Brilliant and seductive, and calculated, very amazing, very romantic, deep down feelings, oh !! My i am wanting you, and touching, you, raw feelings Aretha franklin taught our generation, how to express ourselves and feelings to our man!! She the master!! Of her generation, spectacular, voice, the greatest singer of all times the greates singer in history, the greatest singer in the world ❤😊, none can duplicate her talent. however they tried. Other wanting to take credit for her voices, and tryes to hit a high note!! Thinking thats singing. Aretha franklin!! Was given a voice from heaven. And what!! God give you!! No man can take it away. Aretha put in the time and the hard work!! Things was hard for women!! At that time. Aretha franklin wasn't all about the singing thats what people don't understand, she wrote her on music she has a God given gift , know how to tell or express, to people what she wanted, and her father was the great Baptist preacher at that time in his generation!! And the world. He also had a God given gift that could sing and preach like the Angels from heaven!! I absolutely love this version more! Though I am a fan of Natalie and Aretha both I prefer this version best. And can't we talk about Cissy Houston adding her operatic vocals on the end of the song

Most people don't know that this song and the other song on Natalie Cole's first album were presented to Aretha first. They were written with her in mind but she truned them down and they found Natalie who sang Aretha song in her live set before she was discovered.

Uma das melhores e maiores interpretações de Aretha, ao lado de SEARCH ON ( também de CHUCK JACKSON) e de YOU BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE AGAIN ( de VAN MCCOY).
