- i spent two full months of my life fishing in osrs. this video stands as testament to that. i regret nothing.
thanks to settled, j1mmy, and retrorad for letting me STEAL small clips from their videos to simulate a wartime flashback.
also yes i did just watch challengers and yes it did influence the score of this video.

@@zaqstonerdid you look into drift net fishing? No tick manipulation and over 100k a hour hunter and over 80k a hour fishing the only difference is you have to click each school of fish but you don't need to drop them so it's kind of the same....

Lol. I remember aiming for 99 fishing in OSRS during the first few months of release. No one had 99 fishing, yet, but I was around #7-8 in the skill on the hiscores. Most of us were about half way to 99 and then I threw in the towel and quit the game for a while. I did eventually achieve 99 a few years later and I have no idea how I managed to grind that out for hundreds of hours! That sounds crazy to me now. Good vid.

mad respect comrade- i went on this same journey during lockdown when i was very depressed. Still proud of my 99 fishing and i see it as proof that even at my lowest struggling to manage ADHD and poor mental health I can still accomplish cool things. Big love

Congrats on 99! you encapsulated everything I feel about runescape. As a person who doesn't follow many goals and plans through the end I felt the idea of doing something so mind-numbing for hours a challenge worth taking. And that goes for a bunch of goals in the game too, getting a quest cape, achievement cape etc. After achieving those, I made an ironman account and I'm now planning to get to the pvm endgame in the next few years (hopefully) 😅

bro. absolutely felt this video. as someone who also struggles with finishing goals i deeply relate. I recently started the 99 mining grind, it's painfully slow and boring. Gz on 99 fishing, looking forward to future uploads!

If you're going for mining xp, I'd suggest making stops at either/both of the Daeyalt essence mine (provided you've done SotF) or the blessed shard mine in cam todal, maybe as a break from the grind of sorts. The former will give you a few stackable rune essences every tick that you redeem through an NPC and are worth 1.5x xp per essence when crafting runes, which helps with RC down the line, and the latter stockpiles blessed bone shards which are huge prayer xp at the libation bowl. Neither are particularly good mining xp by themselves admittedly, but training/prepping two or more skills at once really hits the spot in my brain that tells me I'm being productive. Especially with the Daeyalt, seeing 100k xp/hr in runecraft feels like a divine event lol.

GZ beast. I did 92-99 almost solely at Tempoross, as I felt way more motivated knowing I would be making some money (+ log slots and pet chance) in the process.
yeah i wish i fished anglers or something so that at least i made some cash, but sooooo slow. tempoross was fun but not afk enough for me to fish at work so couldn’t do it as my main skiller

Magnificently done man. If you want a little bit of a spook since you've got the perspective, I've got a buddy who was after the heron pet and decided to go fish anglerfish as soon as he hit lvl 82 (an activity worth about 13k xp/hr) and grinded them all the way to 99. I think he was there for three months while he let it go in the background.
If you want an extra spook, he's doing the same thing for Runecraft as we speak, although he's at least getting about double what he got from fishing.

the algorithm just sniped me with this video a week after I posted an article on my medium about my journey to 99 Runecraft! we seem to have had pretty similar experiences here, gzzz on the cape!

Random rant:
I tried Palia but the young male kid NPCs flirting at me was beyond weird as an almost 30 year old straight guy. I just couldn't play it anymore after that but i kind of enjoyed it. Felt so wrong to have a game sexualizing what to me seems like kids even if they’re npcs. I guess it’s a kids game, but if it is they should really say so.

As a long term player I can tell you there's only a few skills that are that long. Maybe about 3 or 4. The rest are average grinds between 50-150hours depending the method. Your main issue with most is funding them. You can save time by spending more money but fishing. Wc agility they all can't be paid for. So they typically take the longest to get to 99
hahah yeah i committed to the plan of getting 99 fishing before i learned that it's one of the longest grinds... so it was a tough first 99 but it felt like the perfect one to test my commitment to a goal!
I just got back into OSRS 3 weeks ago. Sitting at 86 fishing while I grind the 99 at barbarian outpost.

so I just got 99s in everything in RS3 a few days ago. and it did take years, it was via my old 2010 account. but so many of the skills let you afk them to 99 or at least bank stuff.

I achieved my 1st 99 (thieving) in 2016 when I was homeless. Lotta people told me to stop playing and focus fully on other things like looking for work and an apartment, but those 2 things are nearly impossible to get accepted for when you're early in a gender transition. Finally hitting that 99 made me feel like I could accomplish anything and it gave me the motivation I needed to wade through that sea of shit.

I've been afk'ing this while driving cross country. One click drop enabled. I'm only level 86 currently. I was going to stop at 91 for the diary and just boost.. Had to stop in and click on this video. This grind is sooooo long at 40 to 45k exp an hour 😭 I use my mobile hotspot so every few hours I get the break of just losing service and staying off for awhile until it reboots.
the grind is so so long but its so peaceful - i love fishing on mobile. now that ive done construction i have a newfound appreciation for the peace of an afk-able skill hahah. i believe in you!!

graz on the 99. the skills that i hate are Agility all lvls, Runecraft until lvl 77 and mining until 92. atleast you can nextflix and chill with fishing.

I played this game from roughly 2004 to 2020. One day (during a long, monotonous grind) I asked myself "wtf am I doing"? Logged out, sold my account and GP, and haven't looked back. It's kinda crazy the hours we will put into something so boring for a cape/online achievement that basically means nothing. Still love RS content, great video!

What lvls str and agility did you end on after 99 at barb fishing. Ive been chugging along at otto's to 91 for diary but only just reached 87
i got to 72 agility and strength from fishing hahah
just got my fishing cape the other week has been a long grind lost my spark for a bit so i just angler fished for days, weeks, months.

@progamer24680 i read online somewhere that the time it takes to get the angler gear is actually less efficient than fishing without the bonus the whole time hahah
@@zaqstoner It really only matters when you go for 200m. If you don't the bonus xp doesn't make up for time spent getting the outfit.
Cooking cape is by far the easiest 99 especially with making wine.
