This is a great trip! What more can you ask for, schnitzel, huge beers, waterfalls and boiled peanuts! 🥜 so good love all of that especially the waffle breakfast sando! Wow ! Cheers 🍻
You said it best 😉. Helen really is a little gem of a town in Georgia. It’s great for a long weekend if you are ever in the area. Thanks so much for watching and all the support!
Well, we can’t promise that the Schnitzel will be as good as what you grew up with, but we do think it’s pretty darn good 😉. You have us excited for your road trip now! We can’t wait to see your explorations and hear what you think.
Well if your coffee and donut recommendations are anything to go by, the schnitzel will be amazing. Your St Augustine tips were spot on 🙂 @@micalebgoeswest
@@AdeandLisa we are so happy to hear that! We try to lead folks to the right foods. After all, if you are going to eat treats then you need to make sure they are the best treats possible 😉
Dude I love this video. You guys hit all the spots I would hit. Now I have my own guide when I go. I'm going on a family trip in November. Now I can show my family around these places. Thanks for the content. Also I'll have my 2 year old daughter too.
This comment made our day! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Helen is such a hidden gem in Georgia and there are so many great restaurants and hikes to hit. Our daughter was about a year and a half old when we went, so you should be hitting it at a great age for your daughter. We hope you have a wonderful trip and if you find any great spots we would love to hear. Thanks again!
@micalebgoeswest My pleasure!! Perfect so I'll be able to experience it like you guys did. This will be our 2nd time back but this time I'll have my daughter! I will definitely be telling you some cool spots!
Well this comment just made our day! Thank you so much for supporting the channel and we are so happy you enjoy it. The official Christmas light kick-off is late November, but they usually start adding the Christmas lights downtown and unofficially lighting them earlier in the month. I don’t believe they have any Christmas lights in October but it is Octoberfest season, which is a whole ‘nother fun activity. We hope that helps and you have a great trip!
The lights are up now. The "Lighting of the Village" takes place on November 24th. Christkindlmarkt is on November 26-27 and December 2-3. Victorian Christmas at Hardman Farms is December 1-2, 8-10, 15-16. There are also a couple of Christmas parades. December 9th-Helen and December 2nd in Cleveland. Freed Finder Vacation Rentals will have each of our cabins decorated for Christmas & still has some availability.
In my opinion, but when you are in Helen, don't get food that is NOT German. If you want pizza, burgers, Chinese or Mexican food get that at home. Hansel and Gretel Candy Kitchen have great fudge that they make right there, it is expensive, but you are on vacation, spend some money - the fudge melts in your mouth. Excellent music all over, mostly from one man bands. If you want to eat breakfast at Hofer's, you will wait on a very long line, just go across the street at Alpine cafe and pizza (we didn't have pizza) for breakfast - no wait.
We fully agree on the German food in Helen-it’s so good! We don’t have many authentic German restaurants in central Florida where we live so we try to load up when we go to Helen. We’ve never tried the fudge from Hansel & Gretel Candy Kitchen but your description pretty much made us drool, so we will definitely try it next time. And thanks for the breakfast recommendation! Thanks so much for watching!
Fully agreed! Helen is a wonderful weekend stay, and there is so much to explore around that area of Georgia. For first timers we recommend staying in the small downtown area because it’s so walkable. There are a few options there including Country Inn & Suites, Baymont by Wyndham, Hampton Inn, and Alpine Village Inn to name a few. They also have Airbnb or VRBO rentals that are really well located and affordable. We hope that helps and you get to go!
Yahoo. great . 💪

Awesome review of an awesome place!
Well, thank you, friend! And we agree-Helen is such a unique destination in Georgia that not a lot of people out-of-state know about!
How cute!! Another place you've just added to our 2025 road trip, thanks : )
I grew up in Germany, can't beat a good Schnitzel!
