Merge Tables in Word Horizontally (2020)

Merge tables in Word? That's what you'll learn in this tutorial. I'll show you how to merge two tables in Word horizontally. If you already tried it before and it is not working it might be due to a missing table setting. But you'll see more in the tutorial.

It really works after you deactivate the text-wrapping as told in the video and delete paragraph marks in between the two tables.

Thanks for this tip of simply deleting the paragraph markers! I first tried hitting Backspace & trying to manually move the table to make it look like 1, but no luck with either. That's when I came here, tried the steps in the video (my settings were already set like his showed) and still no luck. Your comment of literally hitting the Delete button for the paragraph markers did the trick though. Thanks again!

Thank you for the video. Where the table sizes are not identical; say top table has 4 columns & the second table has 3 columns, and overall width of the tables are different. How do you align the left & right edges of the newly combined table?

It would be easiest that you drag the vertical table line towards the line you want to align it to. As soon as you come close to that line, they will be combined.

Doing that only works, when the two to-be-merged tables are in sum no longer than one pages and when I want to pull the top line to merge them the downmark-column-mark arrow appears, no matter which hight or position I try to pull, do I have to press another button for it to work?

Having a bit of a hard time understanding this sentence. So, the four-fold arrow doesn't appear? Is this what you are saying? If so, try to click somewhere else in the table, zoom in and zoom out a bit. Sometimes the arrow doesn't appear for some reason but typically I always get it to show.

I figured out that I can drag the little cross towards the next table and when the table is too long, that I can 'cut' it with Crl+Enter and later put it together again, by deleting the paragraphs in between. Needed to force 13 tables together 👍 Thanks for the video! I will try what you recommend next time.
