Indeed. Though not unheard of, I think Haydn has some symphonies that end with a Theme and Variations movement. Indeed, I see roughly this frequency of forms for ending movements of sonata structure pieces: 1) Tie between Sonata Form and Rondo(Earlier pieces(Mozart and earlier) tend towards Rondo while later pieces(Beethoven and beyond) tend towards Sonata Form) 2) Minuet and Trio (Early Mozart especially) 3) Theme and Variations 4) Other less common ones to end with like Fugue(Haydn Symphony no. 3), Binary Form, etc.

I had a thought about this symphony last night: In my view the symphony can almost be seen as a musical outline of Beethoven's entire life or, less specifically, of the general development of the romantic hero. The first movement is Beethoven's early period, or alternatively the 'Virtuoso' period; The second movement, the funeral march, is Beethoven's despair in Heiligenstadt as the crisis of his deafness emerges; the scherzo is Beethoven's gathering resolution, it is the penultimate moment of _intimation_ before the creative outburst, and there is a sense that tremendous forces are amassing together; the first 395 bars of the final movement (i.e. everything up until 9:02 in this video) form the middle period, a period of rapid creative activity, a furious emanation of the energy that accumulated in the preceding scherzo movement (alternatively, this first half of the finale contains the 'Appassionata' and 'Invasion' periods); the section in the finale consisting of bars 396 to 430 (from 9:02 to 10:54 in this video) is an ominous portent of the ensuing years of incubation and unproductivity; But then, in the concluding bars of the finale, there is a prophecy: the wheel will turn again, and a final surge of glory will issue forth in the form of Beethoven's late period, or the period of 'Sublimation.'
I agree with much of this. The ominous section before the finale though is, in my humble opinion, Beethoven not letting the listener get through the symphony without having been reminded of the anguish he was going through in his life at the time. Then Beethoven says "ok enough"... back to the symphony... So it was a very very very personal stamp in a symphony that was in itself a personal stamp.
Thank you Smalin for this upload :). Just want to say, that i like the moment at the end especially : from 9:30 to 10:55. There is a minor theme, that i like in this movement :)

I highly recommend listening to Osmo Vanska with the Minnesota Orchestra! Except for some very minor clipping the recording is absolutely superb. All the instruments are so beautifullly mixed in, while still having a unified sound as a whole. The reverb is also just ideal. Enough to give a lushious and full tone, but not too much, so that it makes everything sound blurred and some instruments aren't distinguishable anymore (as with a lot of recordings of this piece). Much better sounding than even some of the most renowned recordings like Karajans imo. Not to mention how good the interpretation itself is :D

Listen to Osmo Vänska's interpretation with the Minnesota Orchestra. The whole thing is incredible, but this passage is so damn powerful, yet controlled! You can just hear the hero struggle against fate and overcome it like Beethoven did when he wrote this masterpiece of a Symphony that changed all of music!
@@pcgamingftw5694 Osmo’s interpretation is one of my absolute favorites! He’s so controlled and clinical, yet he can lay it down pretty good when it comes to powerful passages like that. His Beethoven cycle is my reference of sorts. There are more elegant cycles (Wand’s is amazing), more lively ones (Chailly’s), but overall Vanska is consistently outstanding and flawless.

Gracias samalin.
Yes, you have correctly identified me. My personal web site is stephenmalinowski.com, and the website for the Music Animation Machine project is musanim.com ... Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
Sorry for no write in English, but my english is short and bad.

Great final movement Eroic
@@pcgamingftw5694 Osmo’s interpretation is one of my absolute favorites! He’s so controlled and clinical, yet he can lay it down pretty good when it comes to powerful passages like that. His Beethoven cycle is my reference of sorts. There are more elegant cycles (Wand’s is amazing), more lively ones (Chailly’s), but overall Vanska is consistently outstanding and flawless.
If you put it at .5, that is what our concert speed is currently at
i can put this when on our school radio if theres a parade😊
Please upload

How do you do these visual videos with the music? It's so interesting to watch it go exactly to the music like a dance. A Beethoven ballet!
I wrote software to do it.
