    We were dry in West KY then last week we had 4 inches and 6 inches in about 5 days. You might want to work while you can.

    Was there something that "nicked" that hose? A screw or a weld?

    • @BorderViewFarms
      @BorderViewFarms  11 дней назад

      Hard to say. Not a screw because they're aren't any in that tube. Could have been rubbing on a weld or just the inside of the tube.

    Listen to dad on rushing to get finished with tillage, we were bone dry two weeks and everyone was just fooling around finishing getting there crop out then it started raining and now they’re trying to figure how and when they can get it out cause it’s rained everyday and no end in sight!

    After seeing all of the hydraulic oil on the ground I was sure you were going to need to top off the resivour to get rolling again.

    Wouldn't it have been as easy to directly connect the new hose to the old hose to pull it through??

    • @BorderViewFarms
      @BorderViewFarms  12 дней назад

      No, the ends didn't match for one and I needed the old hose to get a new one made.

    Work the ground while you can....winter is coming

  • @stanbrow

    What is the difference between what your Dad is doing, and you? Looks to me like you are both just cutting slits in the ground.

    • @BorderViewFarms
      @BorderViewFarms  12 дней назад +4

      No, very different passes. The ripper has shanks running 8-10 inches deep to lift and losses the soil as well as disks to size and bury reside. The VT disk only goes 2-3 inches deep and mostly cuts up and knocks down the corn stalks moving just enough dirt to pin the residue down so it doesn't blow away.

    Listen to your dad about the weather. Years of knowledge

    • @b_lumenkraft
      @b_lumenkraft 12 дней назад +3

      Climate change invalidates a lot of this old knowledge though. Bauernregeln (farmers' rules) in Germany used to be pretty pretty accurate. They still are but the dates changed completely. And the extremes can't be predicted that way because they are random.
