This engine is probably the nicest best maintained coyote engine in the United States period. 2800+ crank hp with such reliability and well built. You have a one of a kind engine it shows when built right you can't beat a ford. Oh yeah with factory block crank and heads.

That motor and the car and driver’s performance at TX2K was legendary. Anyone who had any doubt about the Coyote platforms durability and performance are surely put to bed. Coyote > LS or SBC. Think the only rub on Coyotes are they can be a bit costly at times due to their increasing race car and motor swap popularity.

Since the engine is tore down and you are upgrading some parts to make it stronger you should upgrade from the wire in the block and the receiver groove in the heads you should upgrade to the top fuel hoops so you know for a fact that the heads are completely sealed to the block and I would put billet main caps in it as well and maybe eventually go to an aftermarket block but if you don't have Darton sleeves in your current block I would do that as well and make your current block completely bullet proof and that way you know you always have a great back up engine for when you do build an engine with an aftermarket block and heads

Very interesting teardown and discussion, love the methodical and scientific approach to building and modifying this Coyote engine. The horsepower and torque numbers are far beyond what I thought was possible for this relatively small displacement DOHC V8. The fact that the engine is in such good condition after all the runs at this ridicules power level is a testament not only to the original design but the modifications, setup and tuning. The broken cam cap could have been a manufacturing defect since the others were fine. Great work, thanks for sharing this video.

That camshaft cap could have had an impurity in it the whole time, maybe having an extremely thin layer over it that eventually wore through and allowed it to break free, it could have had a porous area, basically having many many extremely small gas bubbles in the casting, or instead of gases, it could have been aluminum oxides, which are so hard they can be used as the grit on sand paper, it also could be that it was not treated properly and it had internal stresses, which can be amplified by heating and cooling, a combination of things like internal stresses, heat and cooling cycles, high rpm, fast changing vibrations, with an impurity that expands at a different rate than the parent metal and it can start a crack which ends in heartbreak when its on a connecting rod 😢
