Yes I miss the quail as well☹. Thank you for checking out my channel. If you wish to check out a video about garden changes that can help the quail, I have a video on the channel discussing it called: "Grow This Soil Improving Grass | How Grass Benefits Your Permaculture Garden"
I've heard one in my entire life. It was at Beuscher State Park in Smithville, TX about 5 years ago. It was around 6:00 AM, and I just froze when I heard it.
I am at Bastrop State Park and I"m pretty sure that's what is out there calling back and forth to each other. Traffic is steadily rolling down Hwy 71. Pretty cool!
@@DeniseVajdak I listened to it, twas relaxing and peaceful, kinda jealous of your lantern. I hope you enjoy my little channel and find some use in it!
I have been hearing them at night on my property in Gatesville and actually saw one fly back in the woods from a brush pile last weekend. Also heard whippoorwill the same night, last Saturday.
I've only seen one "in person". I was a kid when I did it. After hiking through the woods at night very quietly I kicked one up, and saw it fly off. They're bigger than I thought they would be. I hope you enjoyed the video and my little channel😃
I looked for this sound for a while now and I'm so happy I found it cuz when I moved to my first home, it was scary living alone but this bird made my home feel more at home if that makes sense ❤ Thank-you for this video!
Thank your for this video! I live in Terrell Texas. (Deep in country) And I've grown up hearing this bird come nightfall while working on the ranch. Now as a 25year old. That bird call brings me so much joy to hear. I have been trying to figure out what bird this was for years. Always been told it was wimperwill which I knew wasn't true. Glad I finally know what my favorite bird is. Thank you!!!! Lol
It is October 3, 2023 northeastern Illinois 5:15am and I hear what sounds like this bird MAYBE! Sounds like a child screaming almost! Wish I knew for sure what it was, don’t think it’s an owl! Super cool!
A whippoorwill sounds very similar to this bird. Perhaps that is it. I recently was treated to an eastern screech owl nesting on my place. It has a strange call for an owl imo. So, perhaps your mystery bird is some kind of owl or something. Thanks for checking out my channel. Good luck!
I hear them around my town at night on rare occasions. It seems to me they won't sing if they hear ANYTHING remotely like a human or a car or a dog. I just murmur and they immediately stop.
I still hear these at my home in North Texas, love them. I miss the quail song though, they are gone. 😢

It sounds magical, almost like a fantasy creature😉
I have one right outside my bedroom window calling at night for hours nonstop. I live in central Alabama with woods all around me.
The stamina of these birds really is a sound to behold lol. Thanks for commenting, I hope you find some enjoyment on my little corner of the internet.

Lovely area down there. I could sit and listen to these birds for hours. And, they can call for hours lol
@@crosstimberspermaculture I just posted a little short on my channel sounds from last night

I live next to a woody area and have been hearing one this time of year for the past 20 years and this year I hear two
Really cool experience, just sitting out on a nice spring or summer evening, and listening to these creatures. I like hearing there are more.

What an exquisite treat!
Hear those all the time in Texas, I record it and play it back for it and can hear it coming closer to the house but never get a look at it.

I had one in my subdivision in Florida. Moved to North Carolina and have one in our subdivision here

It makes TOTAL sense, and I am stealing that description😃, "the bird song that feels like home". Thank you for stopping by my little channel!

In hindsight I think it was probably an owl as Whipoorwills don’t come to our area.
@@angelaengler2387 Hopefully you get a chance to hear it again, and grab a recording. Hopefully that might help when searching for the sound.
We just heard one in a suburb outside Austin and we used your video to identify it!
That's so cool that makes me so happy to hear! Thanks for checking out my channel😃
There are two out here. They call out to each other from a distance ❤
You were listening closely, thank you for that!😄 When we're lucky, we can hear half a dozen or so on some nights.
I’ve tried sending your video to Merlin and suggest you do the same! Awesome recording. Thank you.
Thank you for checking out my video and channel! I have never heard of Merlin until your comment, but I will check it out.😃
Sounds like it's saying it's own name

Yeah, that has been my experience as well. Like they are super shy or something😆
