    This really makes me regret throwing seeds, and i threw hundreds of seeds back in the day. They were all fantastic strains that possibly don't exist anymore, at least i never stumbled upon them again. And everyone i talk to, they all miss those old strains as well, nobody can find such weed again. We had weeds with a truly psychedelic effect, like an acid or mushroom trip, and they were not sprayed or anything like that, back then weed was as natural as it can be. There were many strains with this psychedelic effect, and they all offered something different. We never knew what strains were they, we just called them Skunk if they were trippy, i don't know why, some urban misconceptions probably. But if it smelled strong and had a trippy effect, everyone called it Skunk. And it was never about tolerance either, because the Skunk was a rare special treat that you couldn't always find and it costed more money, everyone was grabbing it as soon as it showed up and quickly got sold. In between the Skunks we smoked a lot of regular weed with standard effects and our tolerance was high, so it was definitely 100% the strains that gave this effect. And even older smokers acknowledged the trippyness of the Skunks. But just to make sure, these were most likely not Skunk strains, these were probably some landrace Sativas that flowered for more than 16-18 weeks and grew few meters in height, because back then most of it was grown outdoor.
    Nowdays i even read on forums, many people are searching for these strains and it seems impossible to find. Younger generations or people who just started smoking in the last 10-15 years, they never even experienced these strains. They say: ''Weed is not psychedelic, i never had a psychedelic trip on weed, you probably had a low tolerance, bla bla bla...'' they just never smoked the old-school stuff. And most of the strains on the market are crosses that offer non-psychedelic effects, for example calming, soothing, relaxing, creative, energizing, sleepy etc. etc.
    There is only one strain that really emphasizes a psychedelic effect and that's LSD by Barney, but i haven't grown it yet so i'll have to try. But i don't expect much, i heard people say that it's just a standard high, and the psychedelic phenotype is very rare. If someone isolated the trippy pheno that would be great.
    Please let me know of any psychedelic strain you know from experience that produces a consistent trippy effect everytime, i want to gather all the information and begin a project finding those familiar effects again.

      Dude! The trippy connotation You said in that rad story that took me waaay back, now im remembering, definitely feeling something very outstanding about some of the smoke we ran across in the mid 90s that surely just convinced me years later that i had only felt that stupidly high because i was a newbie.. Come to think of it, it had to have been a way more potent something-or-other that grabs you by the brain and tweaks your ape-sh7t melon. Climbin trees for no reason across the street from PD and getting lost in the middle of town for hours. Lmao gotta bring that stuff back for sure!

    • @newfreenayshaun6651
      @newfreenayshaun6651 2 года назад

      Quite convinced we were truly getting mexi schwag, orange hair, red hair,... All super compressed n smashed seeds, sadly abused but still smokeable if you can get the shells and seed meat all out. I recall a 10lb brick of that stuff when i was 19. Paid a pretty penny for it, broke it up and sorted by hand every quarter and rolled lots of joints. I broke even, six months later pushin hard enough to skirt trouble but delivery and discounts became costly. I was so sick of brick weed by the end of that run that i was really glad to see the hydro and high grade start showing up! My fave was still the purple thai from overseas! Clogged my receptors right up, i tell ya! Lol

      @twentytwo138 2 года назад

      @@newfreenayshaun6651 I believe you, i've heard others say the same about Mexican brick weed. Unfortunately i haven't tried Mexican (at least i think so) because i'm from Europe and we got other sources. And usually this weed had beautiful buds, not bricked. The buds were very fluffy and soft, with lots of orange hairs, and the smell was extremely potent, with hints of lemon.
      But back then strains were just different, there's no way around it. And it's definitely not about the tolerance, don't let the new smokers get to you lol! Back then i was a teenager and i knew 30-year old smokers who were smoking every day for the past 15 years, they were also fighting to get these psychedelic strains. Oooh if i could find those strains again i would be the happiest person on the planet!

      @Smokin Plantaz I agree usually. I wish people just bred unique flavors into the high thc over the years. Now they can distill terps from low thc and add it to thc in extracts.

    • @twentytwo138
      @twentytwo138 2 года назад +2

      @@TheDabEnthusiastGaming It's the terpenes and cannabinoids that matter the most. Each terpene and each cannabinoid gives a different effect, and the combinations of them can have a vast number of different effects. Medium THC with great effects is better than a high THC with crappy effects. Personally i'd rather take a 15% THC Sativa strain to make me energized, creative and trippy, than a 30% THC Indica to make me lazy and put me to sleep. And i prefer Limonene and Pinene terpenes, they are stimulating the mind more than Myrcene or Linalool terpenes for example. I'm not a big fan of sedative, relaxing and sleepy strains, i like the psychedelic stuff.
      And usually the nature makes everything balanced, the best strains normally don't have extremely high THC numbers, otherwise they would be too OP :)
      That's why weeds with milder effects have more THC to compensate, it's all Universal balance :)

    Great video. Very enjoyable but technically a "landscape" f1 should be very similar to it's parents. Land races may/ should have some variation within the population but they're in bred lines/ populations.
    The war on drugs deserves the most credit for the elimination of most of the original genetics. It forced amateur/ hobby breeders to do 1x1 crosses and small population breeding and made preservation all but impossible without risking years or decades of freedom.
    Some of the breeders from the 90s and 2000s also polluted or eliminated land race strains by introducing their "improved" cultivars to the places where they evolved without interference for 100s or even thousands of years.
