Bernie Sanders calls himself a socialist as a big middle finger to his critics who call ANYthing that helps the poor and working class socialism. In reality, Bernie Sanders' policy platform, considered far-left in this country, is considered center-left, and standard, in every other Western country. By any objective standard, Bernie Sanders is a social democrat who proposes modified capitalism in which the poor and working class are subsidized instead of the rich, with a strong safety net to prevent people from being crushed by destitution and preventable illness.
Frankie Says .... A ..fucking...Men
@DrMossydog Yes, but he responds to the critics by saying, "Sure, I am a Socialist...". The fact that so many people have zero understanding of the types of Socialism is another reason the U.S. needs expanded public education.
💙🐦🙂
If you pay taxes, you should be getting something beneficial in return. Instead of increased military spending, for which there always seems to be enough money, the government should invest in your children’s education and your healthcare. It’s not really free stuff American's want, it’s a return on their investment (taxes). I’m tired of seeing rich people get all the advantages and people who work hard every day paying for it. ~ With love from your "Socialist" neighbour, Canada.

His responses are always on point. Watch his interview with Hasan Minhaj. It's ridiculous :)
If he's not president, we're screwed.
Bernie is doing so well because he is not pandering. He has the same position he has had for the past few decades and this is a verifiable fact from many videos of him speaking over the years. He is genuine. He is not seeking fame or fortune by means of popularity but is genuinely concerned about the future of this country and the world. If you look back at the other candidates and where they stand on issues compared with Bernie you will quickly realize that Bernie has had the most conviction regardless of popularity. He doesn't care about being popular, he cares about what is right and just. Bernie is also not a socialist by any means. He calls himself a democratic socialist but that absolutely does not make him a political socialist.
Back in the "good ol' days", tax rates on the rich were over double what they are now. It essentially forced the rich to invest in their companies, employees, and communities instead of paying a huge amount of money to Uncle Sam. This is what made America great. Families could live comfortably on one income. Communities could run comfortably with low taxes.
There is not a single person who EARNS $1 million a year. Think about that long and hard. No one person works that hard and contributes that much without working off the backs of many thousands of people.
Thank you Joe. Beautifully said.
Joe Dufour so true. He's sincere.
Joe Dufour maybe trump is the greatest thing that happened to the US. and not i. the way he nor his sycophants think. his orange tire fire in the white house may have woken up voters. sadly i think americas ignorance to political theory will be to hard for bernie to overcome with the socialist name tag on him. and it would help if bernie got the terms straight, he’s a social democrat, not a democratic socialist. there a big difference between the two. and he’s also fighting main stream left media and the DNC. but just maybe someone like him will definitely win 2024, let’s hope it’s 2020
BERNIE PEOPLE....BERNIE PEOPLE....BERNIE PEOPLE....BERNIE PEOPLE...👀.
Bernie’s consistent policy is to make excuses for dictatorships that were responsible for at least 70 million deaths in the 20th century. What he’s proposing is Marxism and that’s something to really think about when you consider voting for this person.
I would never in my life be so proud to be an American, if Bernie Sanders becomes our nominee. For people to unplug themselves from powerful media fear mongering, in which many of these outlets we get most of our information from about the world, is remarkable. How mush strength does one need to unplug themselves from the matrix that alters reality to depict what they want you to believe. My faith in humanity will be restored if Bernie wins.
captainron47 it's not infested. It's purposely grown.
rubnflo77 TY I live to plz Peasant. Good luck on voting for your kings and Lord's peasant. I hope you're happy living in the world where you scrape for scraps off your Masters table. I'm glad to make someone laugh maybe I should try to stand up.

This is exactly what happened when Trump won, just saying. The country has already unplugged themselves from media fear mongering, because every media outlet was anti-Trump (even Fox News early on).
Chris Matthews seriously needs to be fired. He's comparing Bernie to Nazis, and the Nazi's literally wiped out a chunk of Bernie's family. Disgusting.
Pretty bad for Chris Matthews. He wAs wrong and needs to apologize.
You mean like trump gets people fired? We have freedom of speech for now.
@@kimclarke9745 agreed. Unacceptable.
Yeah, I'm vastly disappointed & annoyed someone as smart as Chris could be so stupid as to not recall Bernie's family fled from Nazi occupation & some were killed. You really can't take 5 minutes and think of a better analogy?! 🤦
Truth he’s not a stupid man. But what he said was unacceptable and an apology is appropriate.
So glad you’re talking about this Seth! The rest of the media is trying to downplay Bernie’s victory in three states.
When the far left socialist fraudulent kook known as Bernie Sanders loses to Trump in November, then Seth will get to try to squeeze out 4 more years of increasingly lame, desperate, unfunny jokes about a disaster he helped create. Enjoy the ride.

Yes sir and Trevor Noah does nothing to bring this up to.

I've said this before about Jon Stewart: it's sad that we get more objective coverage from comedy shows than MSNBC, the supposedly liberal news channel. Btw, Seth and Chris Matthews are technically part of the same network, so huge respect to Seth for calling out his nonsense.
I remember back in the day they did a test on pple who got their tv news primarily from jon Stewart's daily show VS those who watch cnn, fox, MSNBC. Pple who watched daily show were more informed on current affairs
Dude you remember Jon Stewart way differently and with nostalgia rather than facts. Stewart was a shill. A kind, sometimes funny shill, but a shill nevertheless. A player in the game.
It’s even sadder when Stewart’s buddy, Colbert, is acting corporate. He hates Bernie.
They’re doing a somewhat better job than last election when they all shilled for Hillary and completely ignored Bernie.

This is why he's going to lose not because he's humble but because he's acting like he gives a damn
I'm glad one of the most famous late night comedians has finally started mocking the insanely dumb and unethical responses from old rich guys on mainstream media controlled by president.
Seth has always been a dear comic to me; my friend dislikes his smug aura but I found it endearing and authentic, especially during his closer looks. Needless to say I'm delighted to find this segment telling the truth that needed a voice.
I find Seth has always been like this. He and his staff have just become more prepared to call things as they are. He is making so much money for his network, that they can no longer even try to censor him. The show also has a good team of sympathetic lawyers!

I know right? Everyone from Colbert to Trevor noah and even Bill Maher have been just ignoring the clear and obvious bias towards Bernie Sanders
I love Bernie's "who cares?" reaction about his front runner status vs. Trump's over-the-top boasting and bragging in 2016. A little humility goes a long way.
I love that Seth Meyers doesn't bash Bernie, and actually shows him respect when he makes fun of him.
It's good natured and honest humour and jabs, like you see between good friends, rather than the snarky, insulting kind that's far more common these days.
Good call, I didnt pay attention to that. And Seth is known for making cheap physical insults too, so I’m glad he’s respecting Bernie.
I wish he treated other candidates with that same respect
...
Honestly you are right.
I noticed Trevor Noah and Jon Stewart both did comment on 2020 and 2016 Bernie respectfully and personally I cant shake the feeling that even some
political comedians would rather make fun of him while Jon commented he actually made sense, Trevor, Bee and Oliver would rather just joke at his expense
Idk, maybe I am just being a snowflake, but Meyers nailed it. So glad he did this piece.
Seth Meyers is a progressive in real life, so that isn't surprising. He is literally the only late night progressive host.

I'm Australian and Bernie winning would be the best thing for the US and all your NATO allies... people actually love him... you know why... hes' authentic, has a massive track record of ballsy political work and he's been on the right side of nearly 100% of debates from a 'new century' perspective...
As another Australian I endorse this comment. Absolute no brainer, easy choice for any rational person.
Same. I am an Aussie and see Bernie as the sensible candidate. As an outsider it really does seem that the critics can simply be explained as representatives of the rich that are so fearful of Bernie and Warren. I get the USA fear of big government but the free market isn't working out that well for the common person. Of course Australia has a recent history of voting against our best interests because the Murdoch media tells us to... so I am wary of sounding too smug.
I live in Montréal, Québec and I endorse this comment too.
I am an American and I support Bernie cause he cares about the average person. And our political balance is way too far to the right since Reagan.
Also an Aussie. He is what’s best for America. We could do with our own Bernie Sanders
Respect to Seth for calling out MSNBC's bias against Bernie
To be precise he doesn't really call out MSNBC. He talks about corporate media instead of calling the donkey by it's name.
@@Nils_Ki that is the name of the donkey, to go with your metaphor. Calling out specifically MSNBC would be ignoring the overall anti-Bernie attitude of the establishment that the corporate media shills out to. Many, many rich people -- especially those from deep-Blue places like New York and DC -- care about more than tax cuts. I grew up in a community of hyper-wealthy New Yorkers, most of whom were high-level Wall Street execs... They're all Democrats and their kids are mostly in nonprofit work and various do-gooder fields, apart from those in (liberal) politics. Some rich people value their conscience more than their bank accounts... And what about all those WWC-people-in-diners the media's so fond with interviewing? just as a reminder to everyone: the greatest democratic president was fdr, and bernie is to the right of fdr. remember that next time someone wants to say "but he's a socialist"
The biggest gripe I have about Bernie Sanders is how enthusiastically he uses the term "socialist" or democratic socialist. His basic political precepts are European social democracy and New Deal liberalism, but he insists on using that term that may put off a good many Americans. Left-wing movements are absolutely fucking terrible at getting their message across without being repulsive. The health plan is even worse under scrutiny; banning private health insurance isn't even a thing in Great Britain with their NHS or many European states either.
The point is to avoid the coalescence of people who wanted to destroy your candidacy while running - business, media outlets, transnational companies, so one. To do this you need to avoid saying things like socialism and then undertake your legislative Blitzgrieg after winning. They can't get you when actually making major legislative moves because of speed, they will never let Sanders win, which is why being really low key during campaigning and then shock and awe after winning is essential.

shaplintaro I wonder if Colbert got his call from his boss yet. “It’s over. Bernie won. You gotta think of something funnier to say than “He’s old! Ha! And cranky!”
@@shaplintaro but I've seen a lot of Colbert and I don't remember seeing him trash-talking Bernie. Except for the usual jokes of course. And Bernie has been on Colbert several times. Do you have any examples I can look into a bit more?
He had best carried the torch of Jon Stewart's legacy on the Daily Show, which is remarkable, considering the show is still on the air (in a much-reduced form, Noah being far more moderate in tone than Stewart was) and Seth had no participation in that ethos besides some snarky commentary on SNLs Weekend Update. Never saw it coming...Seth has the best political writers on TV, bar none.
@@shaplintaro Really sad that Colbert didn't draw inspiration from Stewart...his "Late Night" had become do far removed from his great satire on "The Colbert Report". @Agent Fungus Public schools, parks...good socialism is when the people are benefited. The worst socialism is controlling of the markets such as tariffs, big business bail outs for example where there is no benefit to the people.
And people wonder why big business Conservatives enjoy slashing public school budgets, introducing/forcing "alternative science" like Creationism, and making higher education crippling to enter if you're not already loaded. It's so that you're stuck with a population that will believe whatever lie Big Brother churns out, no matter how ass backwards it is with even an iota of understanding.

I like Seth Myers, and I'm quite sure he didn't write those jokes, but he had to perform them. It's only now that the network is coming around to sort of fairly portray him as someone with reasonable ideas and not someone who's just loud and always screaming about the top 1%.
Honestly most of the Seth jokes were in good fun, Stephen and Trevor pulled off some weird moves on Bernie though
