    Stephen- Thanks for the review. Personally, I'm a fan of the Lamy Studio. However, I do see your points. I have one with a Lamy gold nib. There is definitely a noticeable difference with regards to smoothness and flow.

      To be fair, it’s not that I don’t like the studio… I just like it the same as another Lamy pen that costs less. I have heard wonderful things about the Lamy gold nib that fits the studio. Maybe someday I’ll get a chance to check that out.

      @@stepheninks I put a gold nib in an Al-Star, the shape is identical to the steel ones and I still don't like the pen too much, not worth it in my opinion. And as far as I know all Lamy nibs are the same shape.

    The Forest Green Studio has been catching our eye but we’ve been preferring plastic bodies over metal for longer writing sessions, and we’re telling ourselves we’ve enough Lamys 😅

    Great video & love this review of this Lamy. I was considering getting one later this year. I bought a Jinhao 80 the other day ( a copy or inspired of Lamy 2000? ) and it’s really smooth. I was surprised. Thanks.

    • @stepheninks

      I have one of those too. I did need to mess around with tuning the nib for a bit before it ran perfectly smooth in my case, but I agree that it’s great for the price. I actually compare the 2000 to the 80 in my review of it. Obviously, the Lamy 2000 has a much higher production value, but at 10-15x the price of the Jinhao, I certainly hope it would!

      @@stepheninks Thank you. I would love to get a new Lamy Studio this year or a 2000 but awaiting its new color lines. I also wonder how a 14K nib by Lamy would be for either a studio or regular Lamy’s Safari & Alstar.

      @@LisaRSArt I think there are videos of that online. I can’t remember which channel, but maybe it was Brain Goulet’s channel?

    I used to have it some time ago, not super crazy impressions. I wasnt a huge fan of lamy nibs overall , small nib hard to remove feed. Jowo 6* is nicer.
    I think I wasnt super crazy about the grip section and the clip kinda ackward too.
    Its not a luxury* pen, so Safari seems better, as its more comfortable and bigger and better grip for fraction of a price.

    • @stepheninks

      I agree. I don’t hate it, but I’m not in love. This is the kind of pen I would take to work and shed not one tear if I accidentally left it somewhere.

    I've been curious about this pen, but I don't think I'll worry about getting one anymore. What kind of mechanical pencil are you using there?

    • @stepheninks
      @stepheninks  Год назад +1

      It’s a Target “U-brand” pencil my wife got for Christmas in a two-pack stocking stuffer. I stole one. It works really well. I’m actually a little bit mad that I like it just as much as my Steadtler metal mechanical pencil that cost about 3x as much.

      @@stepheninks have you tried the 2mm lead holder versions ?. I kinda find them more enjoyable than mechanical pencils .

      @@Cortesevasive my father is an architect, and one day, I was helping him clean things out of his old office, and spied one of those things in a bucket of stuff he was throwing out. I snagged it, and have kept it with my art supplies ever since.
      If you ever see me penciling in with a red holder, that’s the one. I like how it keeps me from being obsessed with details, and also how my dad probably used it for several decades before getting rid of it.
      He doesn’t really spend much time on RUclips, so he probably doesn’t even know I have it.

    Not sure about this pen. The metal section looks slippery after a period of time but i do like the design with the propeller clip. Another great video and wow you are a great artist.

      I think that’s a pretty fair assessment. If I ever lost this pen, I don’t think I’d be too broken up about it. At the end of the day, I like the Safari better.

    I do find it a little annoying that they gave you 2 Lamys with the same nib! (Now I can't remember, did you get the Lx with an EF?) In which case, at least you got 2 different nib sizes?

    • @stepheninks
      @stepheninks  Год назад +1

      No, I got two fines. Good attention to detail there. From a drawing standpoint, they are the same pen. From a design standpoint, only one of them (politics, sorry!) looks like it was designed by Donald Trump.
