That meal Fulgrim had was with Eldrad, who invited him and a few of the Emperor's Children commanders. Fulgrim served himself some meats and fruit, but apparently didn't touch the cheese platter. From the same scene is that we know the Eldar are, unsurprisingly, vegetarian.
And the "reason" for the Aeldari to be vegetarian is because meat have a taste that is "too rich" for their palate.
