Ok this NEEDS to be said. I had NEVER heard of Dony Edwards until two to three days ago. To say the least I was SHOCKED and frankly STILL am but what I've seen. I felt that Ben Portsmouth was the embodiment of Presley but after seeing Edwards I have NO words except to say that this boy IS Elvis Presley on EVERY level imaginable. His LOOK is 90-95 percent Elvis facially with no clever shading, surgery or makeup. Yet it's his VOICE that seals the deal HERE. I took the time to go over several of his interpretations of Presely classics at various stages of his career and Edwards does MORE than justice to them. His voice is a virtual DNA copy of his possible granddaddy voice. This is absolutely stunning. Perhaps because he didn't have the opportunity to do the David Letterman show he didn't get the exposure that Portsmouth recieved which is the reason I didn't hear of him. Nonetheless now I've learned that due to his being so much in demand,it explains the reason he didn't do the Letterman show. I can see why. Simply at a loss for words here. Incredible.
Curtis Ostriker Yes, Donny is an amazing talent and there are lots of ETAs out there that haven't had the major exposure others have had and they are excellent as well. The ETAs that were featured on the Letterman show were all past winners of the Memphis 'Ultimate Elvis' contest.
Meri Calder Donny Edwards thus far, is the ONLY one I've seen who captures Presley physically up CLOSE. In terms of the voice aspect, Ben Portsmouth and Chris Conner are truly outstanding but generally on the 70s period. That period in my view was Presleys BEST period VOICE wise and artistically. However Donny Edwards uncannily captures Elvis from the 50s' and upward period which is NOT an easy thing to do. He simply nails it. His facial features are remarkably close to a PRIME Presley and Edwards has a very natural ease about him that is quite likeable. Similar somewhat to the man he is paying humble hommage to. For some time I felt that Portsmouth was the ONE who brought the spirit of Presley back to life but after seeing this fellow I have to say there is now room for TWO. Edwards voice on Elvis classic movie recordings is a dead ringer for the man HIMSELF and there is truly no discernable difference in either mans voice. Truly stunning and remarkable.
I seen him here in East Texas, I was speechless and broke out in tears. The best tribute artist ever!
He’s pretty good! Looks the part too!
