    Thanks for this video. Only one I could find that actually showed the removing and drilling of the nut. Just ordered my mount and case. 👍

      I too was figuring out how I should drill this out "cleanly"
      Im going to order a genuine nut and use that so I can swap over when theres no need for a sat nav for a while (which will be much of the time).
      Id only need the sat nav a few times a year

    Great video! I’ve been avoiding this upgrade on my 2016 Thruxton with the track kit in black. By any chance, did you add on the wireless charging pad? Would love to see a video showing the installation of the charging pad with the waterproof smart adapter.

    How tight was the stem nut? Did it takes a lot of effort to remove? I look through the service manual it shows tighten to 90nm

    So glad I came across this video, just bought a Thruxton RS and I want to mount my phone, quad lock looks perfect. What size hole did you drill for the mount. Also just watched your video to change the clipons to standard ones. Did you get them direct from Triumph and how much were they. Thanks.

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  2 года назад +1

      Hi fella, you've bought a lovely bike there, the RS is awesome! The hole was 14mm if I remember rightly, best to double check that though. It was very easy to drill by the way, the nut is ally, so drilling time is minimal. The clip-ons were from Triumph, but they were bought by the guy that I bought the bike from, so I'm not sure how much they were I'm afraid. Hope your mods go well👍

      @@TheBoltHoleBiker Hi, thanks for the reply. I've had a price today for the standard clipons, £143 + the dreaded VAT. I'm going to order the quadlock to.orrow, looks a cracking bit of kit. How did you find changing the clipons, do.you think it was easier the way you did it or would you remove the top yoke next time, love your videos by the way. Also going to order myself ACF50 👍

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  2 года назад +1

      @@darrensamuel4301 Cheers fella, that sounds like a reasonable price. I have to say, dropping the forks wasn't difficult. I seem to remember that when I got down to it, taking the top yoke off involved more than it seemed it was going to, which is why I opted for the other way. I have to say, if you can get the top yoke off easily enough then that is probably the way to go. I hope it goes well, you'll love the extra comfort once they are swapped!

    Great Video. So I stupidly bought the quad lock with stem and anti vibration etc, for my Triumph Sprint 955i ST. Unfortunately the nut is like yours. Now I have had a lot of “experts” (mates) say this is a bad idea. After doing this to yours a while ago. How is it and is it still worth the risk of shagging the top bolt? Cheers and regards.

    Holy sh!t. I'm going to have to do this. They should make fork stems with the hole already drilled ;P
    Perhaps there's a market big enough to buy, drill, and sell the drilled fork stems. I wouldn't know though.
    Anyhow, nice video, very helpful!

      the fork stem itself does not need to be drilled, only the top yoke nut. you can buy an open yoke nut from places like probolt if you don't already have one on your motorcycle.

    Can't bear to tamper with my Thruxton however I think this might work well with the clip ons on my 2014 cbr500r. Could be the solution I've been looking for for a phone and GPS mount on that bike. Great video.

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  4 года назад +1

      Cheers! I know what you mean about not wanting to tamper with the Thruxton, it felt very wrong drilling into the nut on my top yoke, but I consoled myself with the knowledge that if it all went pear shaped I could always order another nut!

    How does the phone connect to the mount, does it come with a phone case?
    Also where did you find a black rather than blue version?

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  3 года назад

      Hi, if I remember correctly you have to order the case separately, as there are different cases for different phones, but once you have the case it just 'twist clips' on really easily and can't come off unless you press the lever and twist so it is completely secure. Here is a link to the black accessory section on their website:

      Sharp eyes! I bought that about three years ago, when one of the guys that works with me was trying to get registered with Napit for Part P, but he kept failing the exams!😂. He cost me a fortune! We decided to give it up as a non starter and the tester has just sat in the workshop ever since, not even been used. I brought it home to list on eBay, but just haven't got around to it yet.
