GR® de Pays tour des Baronnies de Bigorre: 4 days of trek from Gourgue d’Asque to the Pic du Midi

The GR® de Pays tour des Baronnies de Bigorre is a loop trek route located in the Hautes-Pyrénées, feasible in 4 stages. This route takes us to discover the Baronnies de Bigorre, a hilly natural region of the Pyrenean foothills: Between the plain and the high mountains, the intermediate reliefs are distinguished by rounded summits, open passes with magnificent panoramas, and deep valleys . Between Lannemezan and Bagnères-de-Bigorre, the Baronnies bring together 26 small villages, around ten of which are crossed by the GR® de Pays.
Departing from Asque, the adventure begins with the exploration of a mysterious, wild valley, where nature abounds: La Gourgue d'Asque. It is an astonishing place, where you penetrate into the depths of the mountain, going up a charming stream in a unique plant setting. Then the path brings us back to the surface of the earth, and we cross beautiful, peaceful villages with a rich heritage. Little by little, the high mountains are revealed: Some well-known peaks in the region, such as the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, stand out in the landscape. And as we gain height towards the Col des Palomières and the Cap de Castet, we are faced with a grandiose panorama!
In short, the GR® de Pays tour des Baronnies de Bigorre is a varied path, with many curiosities, which can be explored without great difficulty. Enough to treat yourself to a nature break for a few days, in a magnificent setting and a peaceful environment.
