I m an orthodox Christian and RUclips just suggested your video to me. This is exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful presentation. Let us seek God with all our hearts.
I relate with you on an instrinsic level as I'm a fellow muslimah who loves meaningful stories with morals :) PLEASE continue making videos, this has just been an absolute treat! Asalamualikum.
Absolutely LOVED this list, allahumabarik! Just got a kindle so inshallah will be investing in some of these, may Allah reward you! I realized recently that a lot of the content I was consuming was taking from me, rather than pouring into me and have been looking for GOOD books that encourage reflection and so on. I appreciate you so much, may Allah reward you immensely
I’m so grateful I came across your video. I read a good amount of what’s listed here and now have additional books to add to my queue. Keep up the good work! You’re speaking to an untapped audience on RUclips 💛 allahuma barik
Salam sister, love this concept. I recommend Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) as well for an example of perseverance and faith throughout hardships. Although quite long for beginner level. I love that we can take lessons from beautifully written stories and look forward to reading some of your recommendations.
Wallaikum Asalam, alhamdulilah! I recommended Jane Eyre in my last video. I didn’t include it in this bc it is on the longer side for beginner level but it’s definitely one of my favs.
May I recommend some classics from France as a Muslim sister who loves classical literature. La Comtesse de Segur is a female writer who used to write moral tales about the lives of little girls and how they experienced discovering morality, what is good and bad, in 1800 France. I personally loved reading '' Les petites filles modeles'' (the good little girls, in english, as in a model of morality) as well as ''Les malheurs de Sophie'' (the misfortunes of Sophie, who was a troubled child with a sad family life who got adopted into another life and had to adjust her behaviors as such). In fact, Awiista, I would like for you if possible to personally review and make a video about Les Malheurs de Sophie. It's a moral tale which I think deserve a big deep dive and more recognition for all girls who want to learn about emotional growth and moral development. I went to Catholic school and I deeply respect my upbringing and the cultural values of older more conservative Catholic people, especially my teachers in elementary school Nicole and others, who loved me and used to call me a model child and wanted me to skip grades and even visited my home once to have dinner with my mom. In fact I met many catholic people here, from the deeper older nobility, who used to do charity and christian volunteering to help the people in Syria personally, and many of them treated me with such kindness and respect. I recommend those books from La Comtesse de Segur about a girl's upbringing to all my sisters and especially if you have little sisters who love to read, this will be a formative experience for them.
I'm SO delighted to have found your channel! Is there anything you can recommend that discusses art as you described in the "a case for classics" segment?
Thank you, what I talked about I have learned as part of the historical shift from worship of God towards secularism/modernity etc. I have not read a specific book on art history so I can’t recommend it. Although this week I will be doing a video on art and art books inshAllah.
You literally mentioned some of my favourites. I’m yet to read book on Laila Majnu (though I’ve watched few adaptations) and the last one on Rumi Great video through 🤗
I loved the classics and growing up in U.K. I studied them ardently. I am going back to them. I’m trying Tess of the D’ubervilles because I love tragedy but it’s difficult for English speakers from other countries actually lol
So glad I discovered your channel sister! If I were to recommend, there are a lot of good japanese literature Classics that are very well versed with the concept of the lower self, hope you can do a video on it as well :)
Awista, thank you so much for your recommendations! I enjoy them so much and love your taste in literature mashaAllah. If you enjoy Rumi, I think you will love Elif Shafaks "40 rules of Love". I was so immersed in this book and it genuinely brought me closer to Allah
Assalamu alaykum sister, I have been literally thinking about reading classics as I am interested in pursuing English for further studies. Thank you so much for these recommendations ❤❤
Assalamalaikum sister. Just discovered your channel and I love it! I love how you break down the topics in the description, could you also list the books you talk about there so I can come back to it later, that would be so helpful! 💕💕

Specifically I am still looking for a video presenting books that inspire courage, fortitude, perseverance.

You should start a classical book of the month (steering more towards Allah and spirituality). Something we could all connect and talk about.
For me Jane Eyre was the book that helped me the most when it comes to fighting temptation and doing what's right, not what's easy! ❤️
Your channel has inspired me so so much I am forever grateful mashaAllah!!!! Please keep going
