Labor, Liberals and Nationals all joined together to vote against the motion. Only The Greens and Andrew Wilkie voted yes.
We are a sovereign country and we should never look towards the US as an example of democracy. I am ashamed of our government!

I switched from Labour and Liberal some years ago (and doubt if I'll ever go back) and voted for the Greens at several elections. I've since been lucky that in my electorate we have a totally independent politician who is not bound by any party ties or commitments who represents us very well.
There may be other independent politicians in your electorate that may be better than the Greens.
