I like it and for those have Aqueon hob’s take out the useless cartridge and out recusable media in the space left. Also, you may not want to use any brush on the impellar itself; just inside on the walls where the impellar lives. Thanks for this video.

I have used that same filter for years in some of my aquariums. I have 2 of those sponges, thin a thin layer fo that flosssy stuff, and then some ceramic filters. Sometimes I will replace one of the sponges with charcoal if there is a need. Anyway, I only rinse one sponge out every 3 weeks and alternate their position. I only clean out the filter body once a year. While I am cleaning it, I keep all the filtration stuff in the aquarium. we have a lot of minerals so it gets a good amount of nasty mineral buildup. I soak it in water and vinager over night and like magic, its all gone. Give it a good rinse, put the filter media back in and I am good to go for another year. Done it like that for nearly 40 years.

I only replace chemical or mechanical filtration like carbon bags & filter floss. Unless it’s literally falling apart I leave the biological filtration as long as possible
