Since moss speeds up the hatching, it would make sense if you could place it on ice or snow to stop it from hatching so you can display it. Also really wish the advancement for finding a sniffer egg was called "Life, uh, finds a way". We're bringing an extinct species back to life and didn't even get a Jurassic Park reference :(
A small tip for using farmers to farm the sniffer plants, trade with a farmer then break its composter, that way it stays a farmer but won't compost the seeds
BIG GAME IDEAS We need more sniffer plants which are biome specific. Imagine hatching one in a desert and it digs up a different flower. On top of that, the flowers should be consumable like berrys, and provide an effect. Torchflower - Night vision 5 seconds. If you farmed them, this would make them an interesting competitor to night vis potions Pitcher pod - Brew into a potion for extended reach when mining / or eat raw for jump boost 5 seconds Blueberry vines (the unreleased one) - Water breathing 5 seconds. Could be an interesting alternative to water breathing potions Hazy sapling - A strange ancient tree. A new type of sapling that, depending on nearby conditions and blocks, grows into larger versions of modern tree types. For example putting a warped fungus near it would make it grow into warped fungus. Putting cherry leaves near it would make it grow to a big cherry tree. This is future-proof as the sapling could unlock an entirely med wood type in a future update.
But 5 seconds aren't competitors to 8min potions. Maybe early game, but the trouble to find them isn't really early game friendly (well, could be). 1min would be balanced ig
When I was first looking for Sniffer eggs I had to travel a couple thousand blocks to find a new ocean, but thought they'd be in the chest and not the sand lol. After like 5 or 6 ruins with no luck I finally just googled it to doublecheck. Had to go find the materials to make a brush, then went back to the very first ruin and found 2 eggs immediately! Sure would have saved myself some time if I looked it up first but I got there eventually lol
14:00 if you hate the sound of minecart operations another option is to use mud as your sniffer farm floor and just line hoppers underneath all connecting to one chest - because mud is just under a full block height and is a "sniffable" block, it works just the same without the loud minecart noises :)
I was so hoping they'd give the sniffers collision so their backs could be used as moving platforms to jump from or "ride" on, since they're huge anyway. Its disappointing that they don't even have any niche use like that.
The only sad thing About sniffers is that you cant put them in a boat or raft. My sniffer climbed a fricking mountain and doesnt want to live with me 😂😂.

But when he grew into a sniffer , he broke the raft and went far away and when i was exploring my world , i found it on top of a mountain behind my house and just didnt bring it back home 😂💀. I had hoped the "ancient plants" would include new crops. It'd be awesome to have a new three block tall crop like corn or beans. THen we could make new foods like tacos or three sisters stew.
This screenshot for the thumbnail looks like a mod. In 2021 nobody would guess this was future vanilla. I feel like Mojang is losing their vanilla feel. And that’s not a bad thing either. I love it. It’s time Minecraft expanded more and started feeling more whimsical or magical or exotic in more colorful and interesting ways.
If it was a modded creature it would be useful. They release so many new things but the majority is useless and doesnt do much for the game. This update is just caves and cliffs part 3.

I thought you could use a redstone circuit on a timer to break and replace it at regular intervals so wouldn't but I looked it up and the eggs get moved rather than broken by pistons so I don't even know how you would do it.
Wattles, This was great information, there was a few things i didn't know. I have a weird question about the sniffer function. Can a sniffer still dig up seeds if you name tag it Dinnerbone? All other mobs can still function and do their intended jobs or functions in the game upside down. However, because the sniffer digs down into the ground, would it still be able to do its intended function being upside down? Would love your insight

7:58 Eehhh, I don't know if it is totally pointless to take out a sniffer. For me at least, sniffers are kinda laggy. Might not want to set up your sniffer farm in your spawn chunks or you may regret it. There's only one way to "turn off" a sniffer farm if you're having lag issues because of it.
Man I'm guessing the end update is coming soon. but I really want a enchanting update add new enchantments and upgrade some enchantments. Upgraded enchantments example: sharpness 7 and protection 8. Example for new enchantments: "grab" for a shulker but u have to name the shulker off a block and say u named your shulker deepslate and put on the grab enchantment it will pick up deepslate. They Could change the name of the enchantment I made but whatever I just want this specific enchantment and for them to add an upgrade to sharpness and protection
I think that may be too op seeing as they just added the warden to be a harder mob to kill. I'm waiting for more cooking options or different buffers on food like if you use kelp for sushi it should help you someway under water or potato stew will keep you full longer but if you eat too much of it gives you slowness because your too full to do anything. Lol

Would love to actually find this dude and the relic disc but both sometimes are completely bugged on bedrock version and aren't included in the loot tables. My world included, no relic disc or sniffer (dug up 6 trail ruins, found all armor trims, and pottery shards, searched multiple ocean ruins both small and large as I live near the ocean biomes and no egg.)

I've been searching for hours with a friend in our world for this stupid sniffer egg. We decided to just start doing /locate at this point because no matter what we do we never get a single egg, but have gotten every other item possible. It's driving me up a wall. And you're telling me we really want to get TWO of them??
Found 3 eggs in my Bugrock world and after a while i saw them disappear but i could ear them. Now they are grown and dig for seeds but i still cannot see them... Do you know if i can do anything to fix this? (also i'm not using texture packs or anything else) Thank you Wattles and great explanation of everything as always!!
Funny how they said the sniffer would add new ancient plants and only added 2 the bare minimum to say "plants" instead on plant and the plant does nothing
As much as I love the sniffer, they need to stop all these crazy updates until they fix the bugs and create slabs and stairs for dirt, glass, and tuff (really all blocks that could be and aren't)
We need an Archeologist Villager that can provide maps for ruins and archeology sites. Other prehistoric Minecraft mobs too since sniffer is already added. Pokemon people would definitely be happy. Personally I'd like to see something like Caracosta.

You got some timings backwards. It takes 20 minutes for the Sniffer egg to hatch (10 on Moss), and 40 minutes from Snifflet to Sniffer.
