Oh, sweet Claire! You really are the incredible shrinking woman. Thank you for your honesty in answering our questions. I remember feeling very anxious when I was learning to drive, but it eventually became second nature. The fabric you chose for your dress is fun and bold. You will look stunning in your vibrant dress. Many blessings and a big hug from across the pond. Bye for now. ❤❤❤
Thanks Lorraine! Yes, I’ll pick up confidence in time. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time, it means a lot for me to pass. I’m looking forward to share the make once I’ve sewn it ❤️
Congratulations on becoming a GrandMaMa! Thank you Claire for your honesty and frankness regarding the Carnivore Diet. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. 💚🧡💜💙
Congrats on the granddaughter. My two grandsons are wonderful but the little girl is something special. Enjoy all the fun sewing for her. Mine is getting old enough to teach to sew. What fun!
😍😍😍 oh i love your dress fabric, Claire! Very much looking forward to seeing the future video. I've got a Maison Fauve dress on the go. Was so excited for the weekend to do the next element (Remember I've joined your sew it slow team) and am spending the day in bed and perhaps tomorrow I'll energized. 🌷😊
A new baby! What fun. My grandchildren are almost all grown up now. I have enjoyed every minute of their lives. I even got to be there when they were born. ❤
oh my gosh, a baby girl! so exciting Claire! I'm going to make her a few little things. I am so hyped up for you! =) This is a sweet video, you are answering all our questions like I hoped you would. Do you have a due date for the baby? Will they do a reveal party? Thanks for this video, hon! You are looking so good! Give Fred a hug for me! Rufus is still looking for a good looking Englishman to run away with! Love, Lita XXX
Congrats on being a grandma. Wishing love, health and happiness to all of you. I’m impressed with how healthy you look. I’m happy for you that you’ve had some improvement with me/cfs symptoms. Whatever works I reckon. I’m looking forward to seeing more sewing videos in the future. Driving for two hours knowing how to drive is an exhaustion. Let alone learning for that long. I even drive an automatic these days. Yes, it does make a difference to my energy. It maybe something to keep in mind especially if getting your own vehicle. Just so you know, CFS has been a major part of my life for roughly 30 years. Some years worse than others. There are times I look to have conquered it and no clue what made it seem better or worse. Less to do seems to help with some symptoms until it doesn’t. 😊 most of the time i accept it. The odd times I’m frustrated by it. It doesn’t help either. 🕯️🙏🏼🧑🍼❤
Thank you. I’m not against an automatic once I’ve passed, but I want to learn manual so I’m not limiting myself. Plus I get satisfaction from changing gears lol (autistic trait). Luckily I have pretty good clutch control.
Simplicity is my favorite children's clothing patterns. But Butterick, mccalls and some vogue patterns are great too. When I tried to catalog my sewing patterns, there was an abundance of Simplicity❤❤❤❤
Oh me oh my sewing patterns are absolutely beautiful for little girls clothing and I have found very true to size, congratulations on your granddaughter that’s so exciting 🥰
Me too Claire! First grandbaby also to be a girl coming in June. 👩👧💖 Nanna Catherine has also started tracking down baby girl clothing. I also want to make a diaper bag so was hunting for free patterns.
@Penguinandpear oh agree totally! (No social media) - I was thinking more along the lines of if you had pattern inspiration of something you were doing for an adult and a child's pattern version.
I have lots of children's patterns for my grandchildren and especially my granddaughters from Little Lizard King. It's a funny name, but the clothes are adorable. Also peek-a-boo patterns. They have play mats, clothing etc and I really love them also. Take a look. Those 2 are really nice. God bless.
Hi Claire have you thought about learning to drive in an automatic car….i have a muscle wasting illness and I found driving automatic is less stressful and a lot easier than manual ❤😊
Yes I’ve thought about it but I don’t see a need. I enjoy driving a manual and it’ll keep costs down once I’ve passed. I don’t find driving a manual difficult, I’m just in the early stages of learning routines etc which I’d still need to learn in an automatic. ❤️
26:10 Thank you so much for being so open and sharing your journey. So many of your symptoms I can relate to such as the chronic fatigue and all over pain and especially brain fog. And I thought that maybe I would have fibromyalgia as well, but here it’s due to menopause. All of my pains and brain fog, etc. started in my mid 30s and now I’m almost 50 and just learned that all of that at least for me, was perimenopause related so now I am looking for an actual menopausal specialist and if I can’t find one, I’m going to go to an internal medicine physician or a endocrinologist.
How do you know that it was perimenopause, if you don’t mind me asking? Ages 30 and up is the most common age bracket to develop fibromyalgia or mecfs. I got ill at 34. For info, the carnivore diet got rid of any peri symptoms I had so that may be worth looking into. Search carnivore and menopause on RUclips.
With your anxiety and learning to drive. My daughter had bad anxiety during driving lessons. So she ended up switching to automatic which has now passed. Its something to think about. Just means you can't drive a manual. There is always that option. You looking great and i really like the jumper you are wearing. It looks great on you.❤
It’s just because I’m getting back into driving. I don’t want to learn in an automatic, I love driving manual. Plus automatic is more expensive. I just need to gain experience.
Congratulations on your new arrival due soon. 🎉 I’ve got the Geranium dress and extension pack by Made by Rae patterns. It has lots of options. The Be Curious Dress by Ellie and Mac is similar and cheaper but the bodice is not very long. Waves and wild have lots of patterns. I use the Harem pants paired with Explorer Raglan t shirt to make leisure wear and pyjamas.
❤ Thank you for sharing your experience around CFS, PEM and diet. I'm a physiotherapist and currently doing my master en psychosomatic physiotherapy, so this colours in the dry theory. As for your tailbone troubles: most SI joint patients I see benefit from exercise relaxing the pelvic floor. Those muscles react to stress (work, emotional, pain,...) just like those thick neck and chewing muscles.
I bought a pelvic wand but never had the courage to use it. However my physio felt that the problems were stemming from tight glutes. When I started stretching those out (leaning forward on a wall) the pain eased. Although I think the walking was most helpful. I find now if I’m inactive for a few days it gets painful again but a walk gets rid of it. This likely came from years of being bed bound with cfs. In terms of cfs I have increased my baseline but it’s important not to just throw cfs patients into activity this can make things worse. It didn’t help me for many years. But because my illness was at a latter stage and I got rid of carbohydrates, I strengthened my body to where exercise could be beneficial. I also included a supplement protocol to support this. Nadh, coq10 and ribose helped a lot. Yes I agree muscles react to stress. I once got a frozen shoulder due to stress, another time my lower back siezed up and I was in agony. It’s important to remember though just because muscles react to stress, that does not mean stress causes conditions like mecfs. Mecfs is a physical condition and there are blood tests that can detect mecfs now although they are not yet freely available.
I’ve found eliminating carbs has reduced it. Amino acid taurine can be helpful. But mine is genetic familial essential tremor so will be different to yours. I’ve had mine since birth. I don’t suspect they will give me extra insight but hopefully they’ll give me medication.
Congratulations on your new baby granddaughter. I have a 7 year old granddaughter and a 5 year old grandson. After the false cancer scare and my gallbladder bladder surgery we finally get to go see them in April. I’m still recovering from my surgery. It’s coming but it’s been rough. I was unable to do laprascopic and getting pain under control has been rough. Once I do get pain under control I’m just exhausted and want to do nothing but sleep. I’m up walking several times a day though to build up my endurance. The drainage tube comes out Monday and I hope that helps. The more you practice your driving the more natural it will feel to you. You talk about your brain fog but look at that car and tell it I got more brains then you do you hunk of metal. lol. Also if exercises fatigue you then cut down the number of exercises you do and maybe build yourself up slowly. I can’t wait to see your dress and I can’t wait to get back in my sewing room.
I started learning at 17. After failing three times I waited until I was 27 (and 7months pregnant) then finally passed! I have multiple autoimmune issues so I understand how they impact on EVERYTHING especially my brain.
Claire, re. the fatigue and fibromyalgia - hope you don’t mind a suggestion - COQ10, Ubiquinol, do some research on this, taking it has helped me greatly.
@ That’s interesting. No stone unturned. (I’ve been fortunate to find something that truly makes me feel so much better). Keep going Claire! Your RUclips channel is very enjoyable xx
My trouble is in my SI joint, and I found water yoga and water walking was a total game changer. If one of those walking distance gyms has a pool, I highly recommend
Wow. You are looking kind of tiny. I know that my changed body was a big adjustment for everybody around me, but especially me. I remember when I lost weight I really wasn’t seeing myself the way I was . Every now and again I kind of got this glimpse of what my new form was and it didn’t feel real. It didn’t feel like me. I felt like I was looking at a funhouse mirror and I’m wondering if you’re having any of those mental burps. I know you’ve been thin in your adulthood before but I never was, so seeing myself then was like something I had never done in my life. I started Weight Watchers when I was eight(!) You have always been a pretty lady, but you look a lot happier and healthier now . Oh, I’m going to get a granddaughter in the middle of April. I’ve already got one who’s kind of amazing so I have great expectations.
You look amazing. You were always pretty, but now u glow. I dont see any need for u to drop another 30 pounds...there will be nothing left of u to post!
I don’t have slow reflexes. I’m very quick in that way. I passed the highway perception test with a high score. At the moment my main issue is confidence and tunnel vision, but I’m two lessons in. I trust my instructors opinion and he doesn’t see any issue. Some people take a long time to learn and I’m one of them.
