- www.zerox-billi... Enjoy this very rare footage from 1984 'The New Show.' This episode is called 'The Hustler' and features John Candy as Minnesota Fats and Kevin Kline as Fast Eddie Felson. The quality is poor but still watchable.
In this hilarious episode, Fast Eddie realizes his dream to match up with the legendary Minnesota Fats...
This skit is better than 90 % of the utter garbage that is on view at the cinemas today and I'm not even joking.
I never knew this existed.
What a fantastic spoof , from a truly missed comedy genius.
Love " the hustler "
Thank you very much !
I miss john candy. What a cool dude. Clean humor.
yeah , he had a natural talent that did not require all the daily perversions of life to make people laugh .
Clean humor...
Myself, funny is funny regardless of the words used.
When they reproduce the original dialogue and set ups Candy's take on Gleason is note perfect, aweome.
Great clip. Kevin Kline a master. John Candy- comic genius, great guy, heart of gold, sorely missed. ❤
Great segment! "The Hustler" is one of my favorites and John Candy and Kevin Kline played well off of each other.
Loved the original movie, it's a total classic, and I agree that it should have won an Oscar. Candy is a super star, and he is sorely missed. Kline is a journeyman actor, and not many people know that he was classically trained, (Shakespearean). Also, I went to high school with Kevin back in the early 70's, at a small private school. He hasn't changed a bit. I played pool my whole life, and I was involved in the billiard business for over thirty years, and yet, I had never seen or heard of this clip. Two of my favorites. Thanks for showing it.
Paul Newman didn’t have a mustache in The Hustler, that was The Color of money. Not a huge deal but you’d think they’d have at least watched it again 😂.
And you'd think you could have watched Kevin Kline in Sophie's Choice also from 1984. That's his own mustache.
John candy was such a good actor!
What a GEM, thank you sir for sharing this lovely little piece of pool film history! Absolutely love the ending of the game '...so close' :D
"Minnesota Fats comes in here ABOUT 8 o'clock. Not a minute before, not a minute after." Before or after about? Great dialog😂😂😂
I caught that too! Almost thought it was unintended blunder!
'Hey 1 went in!'.... all the salty old rail bird guys clap 😂
This is hilarious! Thanks for sharing.
in the montage of garbage shots (lmao) it killed me when the ball rolled past the camera,.,,on the rail 😂😂😂😂
Funnier than anticipated. Crazy about Kline!
This was great yes I do think it was Second City John Candy rest in peace his take on Jackie Gleason outstanding I love the movie The Hustler I'm looking at it now great film should have been Academy Award winner John Candy greatly missed
Thanks for uploading this.
Thanks for posting.. That was awesome! I miss John Candy..
So absurd it’s hilarious.
Oh, man! This is priceless. That subtle, layered SCTV type humor is the best.
Brilliant, so well done. My favourite movie ever
John Candy was a great man.
I met him a month before he
passed. A genuine and talented
human being.
Candy had a stunning comedic talent, he just didn't get the best showcases to shine in. This clip shows a glimpse of that potential greatness that we never got to see blossom to its fullest.
i never knew about this. Thanks, it was GREAT!!
Thank you for posting this!!!!!
They should have televised this game. :D
Felisha Wild 😂😂😂👍
Really enjoyed, I thought they were doing a shot by shot recreation when suddenly, nothing happened, and then kept happening :D
When you can normally shoot pool but your whiskey drunk.
I love John Candy and Kevin Kline, but this went on about three minutes too long
"Watch the Fatman will yards Eddie? No you don't have to call 'em... that is you have to call the 8 ball, that you must call!" Only John Candy can make that funny 😆
I think this was a SCTV parody Dave Thomas was there and Kevin Kline..!!
As a fan of the original this was hilarious. I thought it was just a reenactment until they started shooting lol
These guys are both absolutely brutal at pool
thank You for posting this vid. hustler is one of my fav. movies and i have never seen this mock of it, i love it! keep up the good work!
This is better than the movie
I miss him too. I predict Hobo Johnson will be asked to do a movie of John's life and career. He looks like he could be his kid brother.
😂😂 the nightmare that just kept getting worse 😲👉 🎱
Thank you that was great .
This is extremely cool! I love Mr. Candy
And is that Dave Thomas I see, of the McKenzie Brothers fame?
Great skit for pool players, general public at the time this show aired probably didn't get it.
Ever since I've seen this clip I started calling my nephew sausage cause we're always hanging out together so I'll be like hey sausage go grab us some drinks.
Daniel Bernardo 😂😂😂
Daniel Bernardo it be cool if he’d call you fatss 🤔 fats n sausages 🤣
Wow, this is really cool....
That was great!
I actually worked on the set coaching the actors to play like me. Mosconi would be proud. Lol.
this looks like the old sctv show from canada
LMAO
Awsome upload
Classic
I will put my money on Sausage :)
Uncle Wreckum 👋🏻🎱👄🎱🤚🏻 all day!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is a travisty remaking a classic, there's only one Jackie and Paul
This is a parody/spoof, Kenny
LOL
Legendary
This is hilarious
Lol
He also never called the pocket :p
What's with the goofy surround?
Effing hilarious
I know I saw this as a kid. I liked SCTV.
I must be President of the ladies club
He sounds just like Jackie Gleason
This represents more real life playing pool with friends. Except no one wants to keep missing shots all night, even if playing for free at someone's house
Thanks for the upload. The clip is awful in more than technical quality though 😅😅😅
nice
Fats never came back from Cincy.
Couple a SCTV alums there.
Wasn't this like a spinoff of SCTV ??
hahahaha
Pretty good, but he's no Paul Newman
Thid was painful to watch. Whoever had the idea to turn "The Hustler" into a comedy should be forced to watch this on repeat for days on end.
Its trying to be too mich like the first it sounds fake acting lol
It's a parody, fartbrain
I'm not exactly surprised that this show was cancelled. Maybe I just didn't get the joke. Are they both hustlers who always try lose the first game so they can ramp the stakes and then win?
I think the joke was that they are both terrible but they call themselves hustlers.
You'd have to see the Original Hustler movie with Jackie Gleason, beginning of that movie he plays straight pool with Fast Eddy Felson for like 24 hours, they're the best players around.....this is a goof on that where these guys can't make a ball all nite in 1 game.
But yea fornthe general public on a TV comedy show, I bet a lot of people didn't get it. Most people probably haven't seen that old pool movie so the audience was going 'What is this?'
That's what I thought also.
You need to watch the original movie and be a pool player to really get the joke.
Was this a real film the acting is horrible
It's a spoof, the acting is supposed to terrible
