    That was a time lapse... a Hyper Lapse has a changing frame, aka the camera is moved at equal intervals of space while the shutter is open/closed at equal intervals of time.
    If the camera stays in the same position, then it is just a time lapse (whether it's from the top of Everest or shot from a hovering drone).
    You think there is camera shake when doing a time lapse like the one in this video, you should try stabilizing photos taken with a moving camera. Sorry if I come across harsh, it's just that real hyper lapses are hard via drones which is why I clicked on this video. Add to that ones that goes from sunset to dark and deal with changing light conditions.
    You really need to change the title of the video though.
    I did like your stationary drone time lapse though. Those ocean winds are tough to get stable footage in, yet if you pull it off (like you did), you get crazy wave and cloud action...

    Great tutorial. I've been looking for a good explanation of how to do this and you hit it on the head. I just found out to that Resolve will automatically stich together photos into a video sequence without using that assembler program. All you have to do is drop the file, without opening the folder, just frop the whole folder into your media bin and it looks at it like it's a video file and boom it's there. Not sure if you were aware of that, I wasn't until I watched your video and went down the RUclips rabbit hole watching more videos on hyperlapse. Great job!

    Nice vid man. A small bit of advice, if you're still planning on editing the footage in another program, like you did in Resolve, don't export a JPG sequence as you're losing too much info. It's used more as a final codec than as an intermediate codec. You would be better off exporting as TIFFs from Lightroom and then export from Resolve or Premiere in your favourite delivery format like Quicktime or H.264. JPG is only 8bit and TIFF will be 16 bit so you transfer and protect so much more colour information through your pipeline/workflow. Especially if you do a bit more grading in Resolve instead of just stabilising it.

    • @UpLighting
      @UpLighting 6 лет назад

      + export in higher res than you want in the end because the stabilizing crops into the image...

    It looks like you shot your stills in 16:9 format. If so, you are not getting the best results from your Mavic Pro as it's not using the full sensor, but is cropping the top and bottom. Only the 4:3 format produces 3992 x 2992 pixel images, the full resolution of the sensor. It's better to capture as much information as you can, and crop to taste later.

    Best drone to use in your opinion?

  • @joemoya9743
    @joemoya9743 6 лет назад +2

    I must be missing something... the max. time for a drone to be airborne is what? 25-sh minutes... but, let say 20-25 mins. to be safe. A timelapse for many subject matters will take hours to get the full effect of slow moving actions to appear to be done in seconds. In your video you noted you had 282 images... which would equate to 9 secs at 30 frames/sec. or 11 secs. at 24 frames/sec. taking a pictures every 5 or so seconds. That would mean the subject matter would have a relatively fast moving action(s) in order for the timelapse to look like ... well, like timelapse. Therefore, the short air time really does limit the use of a drone for many types of timelapse where the action takes hours to complete and the full impact of what timelapse provides can be fulfilled.
    I guess the point of my post is... the best drone for hyperlapse or timelapse would be able to have a tether to supply the power... or a battery with a much longer life. At the moment, tethered drones do not have a high resolution photography capabilities (at least the last I looked - perhaps you know otherwise) ...and... additional battery life requires larger batteries which would make the drone too heavy. So... to make a timelapse that would be useful for subject matters that occur over hours (instead of minutes)... a RC Blimp set up with motors to control it's stability would still be the best option for any aerial timelapse (and it has severe limitations in winds). It seems, until drones can have sustainable air times that are in the hour ranges... timelapse for many subject matters will be limited.
    Nice hyperlapse and video btw...

    • @UAVISUALS
      @UAVISUALS  6 лет назад

      Good points there mate, yes battery tech unfortunately isnt quite there yet. I had to do several sequences of the hyperlapse at different locations etc as they were so short.. plus mixing it in with normal shots to keep it interesting.

    Awesome video, new sub. PS. What monitor are you using? Can't see it listed in your kit list.

      Thanks mate, monitor in 'AOC 27inch I2781FH Full HD IPS LED'. Love the slim design, but this one is only full HD not 4k.

    question when you're capturing your footage in there a timelapse mode on your drone you use as you don't mention this at all in the video. I have a Mavic pro thanks

      Hey mate, You are right! I missed adding this in the video.
      In the camera settings where you can select single shot, multiple, AEB etc you need to click on 'timed shot'. It will give you multiple options for time lapse interval shooting . Good luck!

    Hey man great video! One question do you take the pictures by yourself, like do you count and every like 5 seconds you hit the take picture button on your Mavic or is there a way to make my Mavic do it for me?

      I'd like to know the answer to this too.

      Hey mate, thank you. Sorry - something I should have included in the video! In the photo settings you can set it to take automatically. I'd recommend this rather than manually doing it.

    i am still thinking that for how much does a drone stays in air 🙄

    But this isn't a hyperlapse.... This is a timelapse.... You even gave the definition of both timelapse and hyperlapse at the start.... Hyperlapses have a lot of movement in them (as in camera movement).

    Do you need to press to take the picture at regular intervals or does the phantom software allow you to automate that?

    • @UAVISUALS
      @UAVISUALS  6 лет назад

      There is a function where you can set intervals automatically. Look in the camera settings
