Funny thing about that, the first Ultimate Tournament I went to, one of the matches in my pool finished with a Toon Link/K Rool DBZ between T.L’s Up air and K Rool’s Back air. The K Rool won the first round

The Pichu player at 7:25 was my second round fight a few weeks ago in my first ever tournament. It went about as well for me as it did for the Palu. Guy is nuts.

@@briamistryim its just my experience - i tend to train with lvl 9 CPUs, 2 to see how long I can last at a massive disadvantage (I frequently tend to lose against 2 lvl9 CPUs but that's to be expected ). But it actually boils down to 2 parts that built this bad narrative for those characters.
1.) The busted A.I.
Its common knowledge that the lvl9 AI at times (and most) is completely busted, even after they were nerfed its still insane.
not impossible to defeat but holds too much advantage:
such as frame 1 escapes - the 90-100% perfect shields - their stellar grabs - unhinged flexibility - impossible human prediction (as in consistent frame 1 counters that humans can do, but not consistent) - and finally their perfect out of stage techs.
Pros of facing the AI: it gives you a simulation of what to expect when facing off against that specific character - this also helps if you're able to consistently beat the lvl9 AI because your brain now looks out for specific strategies and stage placement for counters (i.e. mario's up throw, quick jump + upair + f-air on ledge for guaranteed stock).
Cons of facing AI: this method at times is too inconsistent - the AI always plays safe, dances around you when at disadvantage - losing time and patience (note: that's also the key to win at advantage). I didn't mention this but they also can perfect trade with you, trading isn't uncommon but its super rare for two players to consistently trade with eachother (since most high level plays tend to be, "whose gonna do the touch of death" first. And also, all the problems above, its not too great to lose to an AI when you know you could've taken it down if it didn't perfect shield you, or cheesed you stocks because they teched that out of stage hit at really high percentage (i.e. 127%)
I've faced ever AI, and the Espers, and Inklings are just insane.
2.) The unfair advantage of characters
All AIs have this above: this doesn't mean no one can beat an AI that has advantages that you can semi replicate or can't replicate at all. But its still doable. Here's the issue though with those 3:
Inklings for the most part, are unfair - they have a damage multiplier, they can bury you (which has been nerfed) and tbe duration is still too high at higher percents (which they can perfectly place you in) not to mention that if you do manage to get out, you're immediately at a disadvantage because the only way the game pulls you out of inklings bury is through a high jump, which causes the 6 frame land lag - also you've been coated by ink, and you'll most likely die if you get hit by up smash (which is highly likely) - their combo games are insane, their incredibly fast, compared to the rest of the cast, inklings have their grabs extended by their dash animation (i know that it applies to all characters but since inklings have a special dash it actually extends their grabs because of how slippery their animations are. When they're punished by their own ink, the time their coated is actually *reduced*, think - the player has to wait atleast 10-12 seconds to lose all the ink while inklings get to shurgg it off after 6 seconds. Fine, we can let that slide.
However the AI uses this to their full advantage because of they're not limited by human error.
Pro players know how to use inklings greatest assets because, well, inklings in Ultimate are perfect, like I said they: hit hard, are fast, burrow you, can outgrab you, combos are stellar and can lead to early kills. They also don't how far away from the stage they are because their recovery is just... Absolutely insane. Inklings, literally have no weakness, except for human error, and if you pin a lvl9 inkling against a character of the same weight size and higher, 6+ times out 10, they win.
I know I didn't mention human error and/or pro analysis because, well lets be honest, pro players iron out the good quality of character, it just so happens inkling's do Everything the best.
That's why it brings a tear to my eyes when i see an inkling lose to a character that has lesser options (mario, wolf, lil mac, name a few more) because seeing their vast pool of options still have them loosing just feels good to those mid-tiers.
I just noticed I didn't talk about the espers yet... Yikes.

Nathan Attzs they both require skill but it’s not that crazy to see from both of them. Bayo had combos that could be very difficult to escape and pichu spikes r not really that hard to hit. That hit box is infinite.
