- It was like going back 30 years when Rover P5's and Ford Granada's were common! some good hits and plenty of wrecks in the video, including possibly one of the worst ever wrecks for Jackstar #360 in his S-Type jag.

love the after race close ups in the pits, just amazing (and pleased) the drivers get out 'OK' makes you appreciate their 'bravery'

Was a good meet, definitely loving the fact there’s minimum welding on the cars , get a idea of what it was like in the 80s and 90s

in all my years of going to watch banger racing plus watching vids like this on RUclips I dont think I have ever seen a car so TOTALLY mangled like that 360 car....that was insane

An "AMC Pacer"?? Seriously??
"AMC" (American Motor Corp.)
(Previously, Known as Rambler Corp., that it was started after the Nash & Hudson merger in the late 50's.)
For the parts alone worth over 2500 euro's. a driving non rust one does 12.000 euro plus....
The cars are not road worthy anymore and full restoration will exceed the eventual value. The valuable parts are stripped from the car and moved on to collectors. What you see is what usually goes into a shredder, so why not let's have some fun with them instead and give the big finale of their lives?
@Peter Demerly Imperials are one of the strongest.Infact they are now banned in the uk because of there strength.

Dont know what the point of using jags and grannys anymore... with the hits these days rhey fold up like everything else... used to race years ago... a car would last a few weeks... its all over in 2 laps these days... alot of work for not much driving..

My dad did spedeworth bangers late 70's early 80's he used a new car every meeting.He destroyed them in one night.He was abit crazy back then👍

I watched a banger race years ago on the Wirral, and they put the radiator where the back seat used to be on long hoses.

Its a sign as you get old and as a lover of bangers years ago to see some of these beauts getting killed in a few minutes? This jacking up trend serves no purpose other than a second of killing all the work the team puts into prepping the car! Its all going bling?

@@Tin_Town - I knew that FOC usually meant that - but I couldn't see why they'd need to say so on the back of the car? Is it some banger-code for 'you can smash the crap out of this car as it doesn't owe me any money'?
@@danwhite7580 I think they put that so that people know they didn't buy it from some classic car restoration enthusiast for the sole purpose of smashing it up. I fit was FOC It has no value other than scrap due to its condition...usually rot. It is in effect even unwanted by the restoration enthusiasts
There's been a trend over recent years to spend big money on cars to race, (when i say big, I mean up to £1000), people like to show off I think. If someone has managed to obtain a rare or desirable car to banger free of charge then some drivers like to show off about it, maybe to rub the "big money brigade"'s noses in it a little.
That AMC is worth a few dollars today in America.

So, is this a race or just smash'em up for the amusement of spectators? In USA we have demo derby's and racing, usually not at the same time. Fun to watch anyway.
It's a race to the finish line, maybe 15 laps like any other race, the big difference is you can push and spin the opposition out of the way, or try to win by stopping the opposition. Some drivers like to race to win, others just like to crash and don't care about winning.
What happened to the AMC Pacer, 711?
Scooter George probably destroyed.
I think it did the second race but had a problem after cos it was at ringwood cheaters a few weeks later

Some of those late hits are intentional and at some point will kill someone. I love all about this craziness except the late hits.

I had to go back and watch it again to double check whether that was what I thought it was. Haven't seen a Pacer in decades.
