Far out ! Never even heard of this show til now. Early 70s, maybe ? Obvious Ultra Man influence. Love the squealing tire sound effect for the monsters' roars !
I haven't watch this since I was at least 8 or 9. I'm 44 now! Wow! At the time when I watched it, it was on in the early 80's. I didn't know that it was this old! Oh the memories... 😔😢
I remember it on WTCG-17 out of Atlanta in 1979, when I first saw it. And yes, I too share the same sentiments. Now, even back then I could tell flaws in the special effects, but this series had the most exotic list of monsters of all series of this type, which was the main appeal for me...besides the first two female members of the Pollution Squad cast, "Rita" (who had a fantastic fashion sense-that red leather suit she sported was just nuclear-hot) and "Margaret" (who was just plain adorable).
First time I was a kid in the 70s I watched this. I remember raising my right hand in the air and said "Ready Overloard!" After my mom talk about me, that was the last time I raised my right hand in that manner 😅
I feel like a cgi remake would be okay as long as they keep it cool. Spectreman is strong af, but has his weaknesses. In the beginning episodes he obliterated monsters and I feel like that would be cool to see either like this again or like how everything is nowadays cgi.
This episode I have to say is one of the most confusing of the series. Before I elaborate, I will say that I really enjoyed the reunion of the baddest-ass monsters Gori created. Mogunetudon (dubbed "Magnatron" in the English version), the mole-catfish hybrid, is my all-time favorite, and I was thrilled to see him back in action. That said, there are a lot of details that left me scratching my head, even when I was 13: First, why was it so easy for Baronosaurus (dubbed "Balu" in the original episode of its appearance) to kill off King Satan, an apparently silicon-based alien creature, by just stabbing it, when Spectreman barely survived his fight with King Satan even with special weaponry from the Overlords? Second, how could we be even sure that the Cyborg had finished off Magnatron, as we never saw the former dispose of the latter, not even a suggestion that it used what it had to its advantage? Third, and I think most important, if Gori had the ability to resurrect his creations after they've been destroyed, why did that not occur to him to carry that out to fulfill his conquest of Earth? Each one of those creatures posed serious challenges for Spectreman just on their own; together, it would be impossible for Spectreman to overpower them without direct assistance from the Overlords (and even then, I wouldn't place any side bets). After all, how can you defeat an enemy that is able to weaponize the dead on such a grand scale?
Gori resurrected a couple monsters and made a new one, and rather than having all of them gang up on Spectreman when he shows up- he instead has them fight each other in a massive waste of resources? I'm not sure whether to call irony or hypocrisy for him wanting to punish humans for being so wasteful and then he pulls this inefficient crap.
Don't want a remake. They will change Spectremans gender, woke black or some other race make, make him a SJW and instead of fighting get a social worker to talk to the monsters.
This one is my favorite and was the first ever episode of the original live action tv show that I ever saw #my 9 e/I & crown international pictures television USA also thank u p productions and Fuji company Ltd of Japan 🇯🇵 for creating the show from the mind of the late Souju Oashi
