He's so methodical. Demonstrates perfectly that Celtic music doesn't have to be rushed through.

Absolutely....a Master showing how Irish traditional music should be played....go to any Pub session and hear that tune and other beautiful melodies beaten to death by oft skilled players who should really know better....

@@seandwyer1823 Amen to that - hornpipes and marches typically murdered as fast reels...

@@tullochgorum6323 i can see your point, but when you're slamming ten to fifteen pints into your gut you kinda want to get the pace going. light the fire. Ye know?

A pub session is one side of trad music (usually the fast paced stuff) but not the only one. There are smaller sessions played with family, music at wakes, music for kids to learn, music on your own sitting on a stone wall in the countryside and many more. Don't put down a few lads enjoying their drinks and playing some fast reels in a pub like, its just a bitta craic

He's probably the best Irish fiddler of the last century - beginning of the next one.
What really amazes me is the confidence, not hurrying, precission of his playing. One of a kind, indeed.

It has echoes of his rendition of Liffey Banks.. can't find Potts playing these particular tunes

Indeed, his Galway Bay rendition is absolutely Tommy Pots on "The Liffey Banks".
A sadly underrated great fiddler in me opinion: Colective tradition doesn't forgive individualism.

I've enjoyed Kevin's recordings with Micheal O Dhomnaill for decades, but didn't pay much attention to his solo music. That was a mistake!
