    The footprint of the platform and ramp is double the footprint of the lawnmower alone. Fold the handle of the lawnmower and keep it on the floor and build shelves above, as many as you like, to hold much more, all the way to the ceiling if you choose. A TORO "store-and-go" mower will fold and stand vertically occupying one quarter of the floor space required by a traditional lawnmower.

      I agree. My first thought was that the ramp takes up previously usable space. No less than what is gained under the caddy. I don't fold my handle, but I store my gas, bag, and side chute under the handle on the floor when I put it away. The lawnmower is pushed under my wall mounted wheelbarrow.

    I got an idea from watching this. Just make it reverse. Have the mower stay on the ground and drive under the box and have the supplies on top. Make me WAY more sense.

      Instant thought. Smaller much simpler method is a shelf on top for cans and a hook for the saw etc.
      This might make sense to stack a mower and snow blower and alternate them by season for serious storage as needed.

    I like it. This could also double as a little maintenance stand so you don’t have to squat down to change the oil, et al. Just create an opening in the plywood large enough to drain the oil and slide a pan underneath to catch it.

    Very cool. I built something similar for my snowmobile. My " Sled Shed" was too cluttered but now i have a drive up ramp on hinges so i can store my sled on top and my wife's sled fits under it. My shed is huge but with tools, lawnmower, snowblower and patio furniture stored in there i had to do something. Plus i want to buy an ATV too but for some reason i just plain forgot to tell my wife about that part.

    Lol 😂 why would you push the heavy mower up a ramp then bend over to get the small items under the ramp. At some point common sense would suggest the lawn mower should go under the platform and the gas can and other items go on the top. You seem to have made this backwards for some reason.

  • @MrSheckstr

    The handle of almost every lawnmower and a couple of oversized plastic cover screws so that the handle can bend forward over the lawn mower reducing the volume of the mower to roughly the box made by the four wheels and a few inches above the top of the engine. Just design your shelf’s and work table to accommodate such a ground level cavity. If you don’t want to do that.... build a simple table that you can set down overtop if you mower and set things into top of the table. And get a five gallon gas jug that comes with a hand pump nozzle than can be set done in the area under the handles

  • @ralphmills7322
    @ralphmills7322 Год назад

    I was thinking of making a similar setup for my 3.5kW Generator, I was going to make it tall enough to store two 5 gallon gas cans underneath and make the ramp removable. The extra height will make checking the oil level easier as the fill hole will be more than four inches off the ground.

  • @WileEGoalie

    Great idea l'm thinking of making one similar only higher so it's easier to remove the blade, change the oil, or any other repairs otherwise you sit on the ground or manhandle it up on top of a table thanks!

    • @floobertuber
      @floobertuber 5 лет назад

      Ditto. I don't have a real need to store my mower in an elevated position, but I'm tired of tilting and/or wrestling with it just to change & sharpen blades, and change oil.
      So for maintenance chores, I'm going to makes something similar (but taller) with a hole in the center beneath the blade. Then I can do those jobs with it on the platform, in a convenient position. Getting it up there won't be hard either, because I have a cheap chain hoist that does the lifting for me. So I can also skip the ramp.
      Besides, doing projects like this is FUN! Build what works for you, and nevermind the naysayers.

    Ok so as I use a lot of vertical space in my micro shop maximize usage let me offer the following. If you undo the screws in the top of the ramp you could add a few (3 or more) L brackets like the ones for shelves. And cutting a matching # of slots where it was mounted before you would be able to remove the ramp when it's not in use. Every " Saved is a " earned? Lol see you in the funny papers

    • @MrSheckstr
      @MrSheckstr 5 лет назад

      Instead of doing something themselves, like what every single one of us have done? Pushed the mower under the empty work bench and or built a simple shelf that goes over top.
      Rather than just call everyone who offers reality based constructive criticism “negative nancy” how about say one word about how that criticism is invalid?
      Don’t call a bad idea Good job because it’s shiny and pretty
      My house has a three car garage back from the time the property was party of a larger family farm. In that garage I also have to store the the riding lawn mower, a push mower, a walk behind snow blower, a roll around generator, a sizable garden tiller with two balloon wheels, a smaller tiller with a couple of push mower sized wheels, a couple of metal utility carts, a two wheel dumping cart and my niece’s fair weather scooter . What I did was put my two tool chests a two door metal lover and a three drawer industrial “end table” on the left side where the one car slot with large things like bar clamps hanging on the wall above and behind the end table and coils of cable hanging in the space above the table, with my air compressor on top of the table. To solve space issue along the back wall I have a series of shelves built from 4*4 posts and 2*6 framing. Tying in with the studs along the back wall, part of the side wall and the bottom member of the air frame roof trusses that gives me 5 storage areas 32 inches wide and a 8 ft storage area all of them 32 inches deep for two levels plus a third area for even longer item between the top level and roof trusses. I also have bunk bed style ladders that fit onto the posts between sections 1&2 , 3&4, 5& the long section and the end of the long section. These ladders can also be used to build a platform for someone to stand on between two ladders. The bottom bunk is high enough to fit the majority of each of those items and the space between the I car section and the two car section is wide enough that several of those items can be lined up there. Although it does require that middle car to be backed in. Something I do most of the time anyway so the driver sides of two vehicles can share the same space.
      ..... or I could have done a “good job and build ramps for all of my wheeled equipment and put all my carried equipment on the ground underneath ...
