The accumulating interest rate has been DRASTICALLY reduced in comparison to when this video was made (change happened in April of 2020, shortly after this video was made). Instead of the 0.5%, it's gone down to 0.05% so it will take longer to do this glitch if someone really wanted to.
I feel so bad for doing this but it's Nintendo's fault for making bridges so freaking expensive Edit: it barley works now because Nintendo lowered the interest rate but it's still a free 9,999 bells 2nd edit: so the max interest you can get is about 10,000 bells. Meaning you would have to time travel 10 times to get about 100,000 bells and 100 time to get about 1m bells. It's not impossible but it takes time. The irony
I know I'm somewhat making a big deal out of this but look, the game is about actually working and not time traveling to get what you need. Yes I know some of us did time travel before but come one. They worked so fricking hard on this game for YEARS and for what? Oh, I guess kids to come and ruin the fun by time-traveling. Raceen I’m going to try to be as specific as a I can! So, you go to system settings (it is the icon that is next to the power button) and then you scroll down to themes and there it will say basic white or basic black and you press on the theme you want :D hope this helps

For anyone that’s going to do this I think a good time when doing it is when your villagers are sleeping. So when you get back to the original year, the villagers won’t know cause they were sleep :) ( hopefully that works )
Probably the games is freezing when u quit the game no one gonna move out it’s just freezing that time when u not in the game:) so nothing is gonna happen ,maybe u get more weeds
If you try this it won’t work because it’s been patched however if you plant trees with fruit that isn’t native to your island then time travel with money in the bank then you can collect up to 10000 Belk’s in the bank and collect bells from the from the fruit you sell.
you could also sell fish and deep sea creatures then invest the money from that into turnips, afterwards using turnip exchange websites to find awesome prices then repeating the process to Zen your way to 17.48 million bells. thats what i did.

*!!!!Anyone visiting after May 2020!!!!* As of new patch, interest tops out at 9,999 bells... This will *only* work if you own the first batch of hardcopies and *never updated the game*.(aka, have never started the game while connected to the internet).
Sarah Bone it’s only 8 years, at least in my experience, so I travel to the year 2000, load the game, save and exit go back to home, and then change the time up 8 years each time, that way I don’t have to keep reloading back to the normal date
The amount of years you have to wait depends on how much money you have in the bank. When starting with 10000 you do have to tt 20 years to get 99999. As you accumulate more bells you can start to only travel 1-3 years but you need at least 600000-700000 bells in your bank. As far as annoying your villagers they will get upset and possibly move away if you don’t speak to them between each time you tt
Okay so knowing how smooth this video is and I know it's 2 years ago just letting people know, when you time travel the max number of bells you get from the bank Interest is 9,999 at a time To max out you will have to spend a few days or more to get time jumping to get max ammount of bells in your account. With out time traveling the fastest way to get bells is selling foreign fruit and sea creatures. With time traveling money tree is the way to go, day by day if you plant 10,000 bell's, each tree will give you 30,000 bells 20 trees will give you 600,000 with in an 1hr or less depending on how fast you are at time traveling.

@@Sergeodu59854 I dont know how it works exactly here, but in new leaf you can go forward and then go back and you'll keep your money as long as you save the game when you exit each time. Also in new leaf villagers might leave and you'll get tons of weeds.It helped if you have the beautiful town ordinance. Just be careful with the villagers. I'd recommend doing this at the start before you have lots of villagers and only doing it later with short time jumps when your in need of quick cash
It might be different with villagers in this game but that's how it was in new leaf. If you're worried about villagers I'd recommend doing the item duplication glitch to get lots of money

For people wondering in the new updates, it still works! I didn’t wanna risk everything, so I decided to only go to 2060 and back. My bells did indeed double! And everything I was waiting for is now done! So I got a little more than I asked for... Thank you!

I made the mistake of following this advice and it messed up my island. After resetting the date back to today's date I returned to an island that was overrun by weeds, my turnips were rotten in my house, roaches were running around my house, and the island now thinks I've been there for a year. All that for a 9,999 increase in bells. So not worth it.

I Know A Different glitch that doesn’t involve time resetting to do the glitch put a table outside and put and expensive item on the table then summon an island resident after that make one resident rotate the table and while one is rotating the other can grab it it duplicates ur item I’m sorry if I didn’t explain well enough explaining is not my specialty bye now :) Hope This Helped

Sarah Bone it’s only 8 years, at least in my experience, so I travel to the year 2000, load the game, save and exit go back to home, and then change the time up 8 years each time, that way I don’t have to keep reloading back to the normal date

The amount of years you have to wait depends on how much money you have in the bank. When starting with 10000 you do have to tt 20 years to get 99999. As you accumulate more bells you can start to only travel 1-3 years but you need at least 600000-700000 bells in your bank. As far as annoying your villagers they will get upset and possibly move away if you don’t speak to them between each time you tt
Okay so knowing how smooth this video is and I know it's 2 years ago just letting people know, when you time travel the max number of bells you get from the bank Interest is 9,999 at a time To max out you will have to spend a few days or more to get time jumping to get max ammount of bells in your account. With out time traveling the fastest way to get bells is selling foreign fruit and sea creatures. With time traveling money tree is the way to go, day by day if you plant 10,000 bell's, each tree will give you 30,000 bells 20 trees will give you 600,000 with in an 1hr or less depending on how fast you are at time traveling.

@@Sergeodu59854 I dont know how it works exactly here, but in new leaf you can go forward and then go back and you'll keep your money as long as you save the game when you exit each time. Also in new leaf villagers might leave and you'll get tons of weeds.It helped if you have the beautiful town ordinance. Just be careful with the villagers. I'd recommend doing this at the start before you have lots of villagers and only doing it later with short time jumps when your in need of quick cash
It might be different with villagers in this game but that's how it was in new leaf. If you're worried about villagers I'd recommend doing the item duplication glitch to get lots of money

@@neonluvsu around 100k, and I got 200k back. I think how it works, is interest in your account builds up for years, and when you play the game, it will be almost double. Well, I don’t really know why yours didn’t work.

@@Maagiicc Because it's always been abused and it makes bells worthless. To allow something like this and without allowing cloud saves (for the purposes of game integrity) is rather nonsensical. Disabling this would be as simple as not giving people bank interest.

Interest rates have plummeted to 0.05% and the max amount of bells that can be earnt is 9,999. If you check your mailbox there will be a message from Tom Nook stating the interest rates have dropped you'll be given a rug. Sorry this doesn't work anymore guys.

I made the mistake of following this advice and it messed up my island. After resetting the date back to today's date I returned to an island that was overrun by weeds, my turnips were rotten in my house, roaches were running around my house, and the island now thinks I've been there for a year. All that for a 9,999 increase in bells. So not worth it.

This also works by changing the year before saving the game. That way you don't have to close the game entirely!

I’d love a money-making guide without time travel. God knows I cheat money progression systems frequently in single player games, but in a game like this, the only parts of the game are money progression and town customization.
I did this and I lost the excitement of seeing my museum open, the villagers getting a house, and I will never know what happened to my first guest. I'm so sad :(

I Know A Different glitch that doesn’t involve time resetting to do the glitch put a table outside and put and expensive item on the table then summon an island resident after that make one resident rotate the table and while one is rotating the other can grab it it duplicates ur item I’m sorry if I didn’t explain well enough explaining is not my specialty bye now :) Hope This Helped
