Totally get the poetic thing with Lord Worm, but I never really saw them as an aggressive sounding band. like obviously they are to an extent because it's death metal but to me it sounds way too weird and warped to sound aggressive, aggression is something I associate with a band like Pantera, this mood is more like total insanity
He left the band in '97 to pursue his teaching career, returned in 2003, but left again in 2007 because of health reasons. No I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't use sound effects. Most vocalist in death metal don't. Lord Worm was the best. RIP old Cryptopsy.
Man, i remember that Lord Worm was hated, I thought it was a bit all over the place, but having heard this track live now, it was just bullshit from the scene. Now he's gone and with him, the feeling of coherent sound.
Good live performance of this classic. I really only like the first two albums. Once Was Not was ok, if not only because Lord Worm was back, but the new one, well I can't describe how shitty it is.
RateYourMusic & Metal Archives put Melodic Death Metal as part of their genre, along with Power Metal (and Neo-Classical Metal in RYM). But what would they know?
It was coherent. I say that the only true death metal band is Death. Every other band is pretty much classified under a sub genre. Death incorporated them all together because they progressed throughout the years. EX. Cryptopsy - Brutal Death Necrophagist - Technical Death Children of Bodom - Melodic Death Obscura - Progressive Death Behemoth - Blackened Death Cynic - Fusion Death Yeah i choose bands that are more well known. But you see my point?
My Perfect Lineup would be: Vocals:Kelly Schaefer atheist is the shit and he's more versatile still Worm is awesome Leads:Chuck Rhythm:Vogg Drums:Vitek
CoB is melodic death... The drums, vocals, guitars. Its not like traditional style. Its more of the gothenburg style. Its still death metal. And for waylon i give CC credit for starting it. But like its just so lame that thats all they talk about. I can't tell the difference between one song from another. They sound so alike. (ive only heard a few) But yeah.
@Psychiatric91 jon is back in cryptopsy, they are writing new more oldschool material and matt's vocals are beginning to sound sick as FUCK! I say, stick to cryptopsy
nobody can replace lord worm, his typical painfull voice represent the brutality of cryptopsy
True af
Every other singer in Cryptopsy's lineup has sorely paled in his shadow
I wish lord worm was my english teacher when i was in school :(
I heard an interview where Lord Worm thought it was "cute" that's the kind of english teacher he was
As much as I liked the last album, they'll never return to their glory days. With Worm they were as poetic as they were aggressive.

Ibanezdan Insanity is what we want :D

R.I.P Cryptopsy
He left the band in '97 to pursue his teaching career, returned in 2003, but left again in 2007 because of health reasons.
No I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't use sound effects. Most vocalist in death metal don't.
Lord Worm was the best. RIP old Cryptopsy.

1:15 love the way it breaks down for a sec then explodes in to a cyclone blast, then gets even faster. it's wild and furious
What a lineup and what a performance! If only I was able to see this. Too bad it will probably never happen again.

@NearbyHermit Slipknot is a Disney "Metal" band.

1:12-1:36 just makes this song for me. It has that vision of a serial psycopath driving at your doorstep at the end of dawn! O_O
RateYourMusic & Metal Archives put Melodic Death Metal as part of their genre, along with Power Metal (and Neo-Classical Metal in RYM).
But what would they know?
sooooo fast :o
@Psychiatric91
and Alex Auburn
1:26-1:36 = Holy fucking shit.
Derek Roddy, Hellhammer, Trym, Frost, Proscriptor, just to name a few who are at least on the same level if not better.
@gbncsrht Splitcock´s drummer.
Hehehehahahahahahahahahahahahahhh:-D You made my day
While I've been known to be a CoB hater on many occasions, saying they don't play metal at all is just ridiculous.

dat scream at 0:58 is fucking badasss
Again: death metal elements in CoB, please?
And what are Morbid Angel or Possessed then?
It was coherent. I say that the only true death metal band is Death. Every other band is pretty much classified under a sub genre. Death incorporated them all together because they progressed throughout the years.
EX. Cryptopsy - Brutal Death
Necrophagist - Technical Death
Children of Bodom - Melodic Death
Obscura - Progressive Death
Behemoth - Blackened Death
Cynic - Fusion Death
Yeah i choose bands that are more well known. But you see my point?
