It is, ironically, advice that could only come from an extreme narcissist. You have to do it his way - all those fantastic writers who stared at a blank page, who had a hard time writing sometimes, well I suppose they're invalidated then. The only way this isn't stupid, is if the central idea is that you are only ready to do it if none of this 'advice' discourages you.
