- Papua New Guinea and Air Niugini's longest-serving pilot has retired after 45 years and 21,000 hours in the Air.
Paun Nonggor-r flew his final flight from Brisbane to Port Moresby on Wednesday, landing at Jackson's Airport at 2pm.
Captain Nonggor-r is also the PNG's first Airline Jet Captain.
He flew me from Brisbane to Port Moresby in 1985. I was a young man then and could hear from the announcement made by the flight attendant that a captain Nongorr was at the helm of this flight. The old fellow has accomplished what he set out to do and had done it in fine style. May he be long remembered by this nation for his contributions to air transport. He deserves a knighthood for services to sir transport.
Thankyou for your service captain
Captain Nongor-r, you made history and will always be remembered as the finest aviator who broke barriers.
Knight him Sir Nongor-r. He really deserves it for his dedicated distinguish services in the airline industry..
Thank you for your service🙏❤
Wow, nice service to the country and hanged it up on a high note 🙏🙏💪🏽💪🏽👍
CONGRATULATIONS Sir on your great and distinguished Aviation Services, to the Transportation endeavors for Papua New Guinea, God Bless.
Thank you for your great job
Well done. We need more Papua New Guineans like captain Nongor
Can EMTV also interview some retired PNG Structural/Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & other engineers that built & design some iconic infrastructures & development contribution to this country & what great things they've done for this nation. Why is the media always chasing after retired pilots.
True Western Highlander, you handled the boeing 767 just like the coaster bus for safely transporting 100s of 1000s of people around the country and overseas. My first trip was from brisbane to Pom and second was from Pom to Singapore with Kepten Nongor-r. Kang Kepten, Ama Ange Mam oh.
BEST comment kang brother !

He is from Hagen
21,000 hours in the air? 21,000÷24=875days which is equal to less than 3 years. 21,000 hours in the air is not true compared to 45 years in the aviation industry. Is this not misleading?
You do not eat, refuel, sleep and socialize in the Air while fly for 45 years unstopped. I hope I cleared your doubt here.
Its a little different. They have what they call Flight dutie hours required for fatigue/stress management set by Regulator. E.g a person can only fly 1000hrs/yr, 100/month etc..Then you put in Holidays/break and he has a life to live as well. Hope that explains...
@@mikesisimolu1582 oh I see forgive me
its not measured that way LOL
@@sammymalda3734😂😂😂😂 very clear 🤣🤣
I'm one of the proudest passages who traveled among all the Leaders Of PNG under O'Neil Government flew in all the way from Hong Kong to Port Moresby. There was allot of turbulence on board but I have faith in Him. 🙏👍🫡🫡🫡
