3 years later, this video helped me change the regulator on my 09 GT. The wire got all bound up so the motor still worked but everything was tangled and beyond repair. Thank you!!!
It took me less time to do the job then it did to watch the video... I was expecting terror but as I was working on the door panel, the video was playing on the phone in the background. I DESPISE, working on window regulators, but for the first time in my life, this one was on the low end not horrible. Quick work. Easy peasey!
@@KGsGarage These cars are so many years old at this point, taking ANYTHING that is plastic off and on is a roll of the dice. There are plenty of replacement tabs and clips but people are charging $8 for a clip. I rather go to harbor freight and find a pack of the universal clips for $3 and find one that works. Nothing broke though. At least not THIS time.. The dang regulator did mess up my window tint. Im kinda pissed at that because I did the re-tint about a year ago and paid for the UV protection good stuff, and now I need to spend another $40 to get that window done. If the regulator didn't break and scratch up the tint, I don't think I would have noticed it was broken at all for a while. It didn't make a sound from working one day to not working the next. If the dog didn't need to stick her head out the window it would have stayed closed, and NOT broken! lol
I used this vid last week to replace a window regular on my G8. What apparently happened is that plastic piece that held the cable in place within the white plastic assembly broke and this part cannot be swapped out. Fortunately this is a GM product and Im int he US and this was used in a bunch of cars so the replacement cost for the entire regulator assembly was only 45 on ebay us (as compared to something on my old volvo, where it would have $45 USD for one screw. I would like to add two small items/comments that I dont think is mentioned in this vid. 1- When disassembling the door make sure to note where each screw goes. I had issues with putting the screws for the bottom of the door panel back in place and after close inspection it appears the screw(s) for the bottom on the door panel are slightly different from the screws for the arm rest even though they look almost identical. The ones for the bottom of the door appear to be slightly smaller in length. If you have problems getting the screws back maybe try to compare to the others you have out 2 - before you install the new assembly make sureto loosen the rubberized mounts for the window glass (where the glass goes into the regulator assembly. You will want to loosen then a bit and push the glass into place/make sure the glass is well seated in the mounts before you start buttoning everything up/tightening these back up.
Good thing to know about these cars the plastic lining with the rubber seal eventually goes bad on all 4 doors and water can leak on the floor boards. Needless to say it can damage the wiring and electronics. This is something that should be checked. The sealant should be replaced
Your video was a huge help. I just got finished changing my right rear window regulator and was done in 30 minutes thanks to you.😁
Glad it helped

The hardest part is getting the door panel off without breaking anything.

thanks for the additional tips on the install.
I’m stuck trying to loosen the 2 screws that hold the window in place. All I have is a regular screwdriver 🤷🏽♂️
You need to get yourself a socket set and you'll be good to go.
@@KGsGarage yea I figured ! Gotta step up gettin more tools. What did you use via brand and attachment wise ?
@@KGsGarage got it replaced!!! Thank you !
Glad you were able to get it to work.
I've got a 2011 Caprice PPV and I'd imagine it's the same setup since they're both Holdens. Left rear went to shit last Thursday.
I'd think it should be similar, I can't see them changing it much between similar models.
@@KGsGarage my buddy and I will use this video to help guide us through the process. Thanks. 👍
Do you need to buy a new or reseal the big plastic gasket behind the door panel?
I just put it back on, the sticky stuff was still good.
Can you tell me the tools you used by any chance
Normal sockets, door panel popper and some masking tape.

Great tip!
