It's 2017 and this remains to be seen as the most godly version of EMIYA. EMIYA 2015 was absolutely beautiful and sobering, but that was about UBW Shirou. *This* song really is for Archer: an utterly determined and unyielding gar machine. The synth and tribal percussion and monks really accentuate Archer's age and experience, while the piano and string accompaniment resound his sorrow and resolve. Best OST to the best fight of DEEN 2006.
Jack Daniels emiya was originally created for shirou. Since archer and shirou are the same person, it resumes the same the role. but at the end of the day emiya was not created for EMIYA it was created for emiya shirou. and honestly that one was more epic and fit shirou so well. better overall than this one, while I do love it ubw emiya was better for multiple reasosn

Fate route: Closest to Archer's theme, because this Shirou is the one that is closest to becoming Archer. He has only one purpose and that is to reach Saber, by continuing to be a sword that serves justice. UBW route: Triumphant, Shirou's ideals have won. He got his crush, he won the war, Saber is still around, this is Shirou as a Hero. A sword that saves others. Heaven's feel route/Why I fight: The Shirou that feels the most "human", the one who threw away all his ideals to protect those dear to him. A person, who wants to live, and protect those dear to him. EDIT: I haven't actually seen or read the fate route yet, I tried to watch it, but I wanted to die, so I didn't. I need to read the visual novel. But from what I''d heard of the route, Fate route shirou was the closest one to becoming Archer. Guess I was wrong though if people in the comments are right. Tohsaka and Saber are pretty much the only things keeping him from fully becoming Archer, but there is a very low possibilty of him becoming Archer. The reason why UBW Shirou isn't going to become Archer is because he has fully embraced the idea of being a sword. You know, I always found Fate Shirou to be the most incompatible with Archer. With UBW Shirou, he still has those same 'for everyone' goals and the same lack of a selfish goal, just an understanding of what that means. With Heaven's Feel Shirou, he's completely abandoned his ideals for the sake of a single person. Those Archer can understand and respect. But Fate Shirou? The guy who never knew who Archer was? The guy who lived a life like a copy of his own? Stood by his ideals blind to the suffering ahead? Yet never failing because he had a goal beyond that? All without his intervention? I can only imagine Archer being completely baffled by him. Which in a way makes sense. That version of Shirou would be independent of Archer, any of the deeds he would accomplish would be without siphoning knowledge and skill from Archer or from taking Archer's power. Unlimited Blade Works would be his enetirely. ...Yeah I think Fate Shirou is the best, how could you tell?

Arturia and shirou are healed by each other of their past traumas and move forward with pride. The route itself isn't about the ideal being good or bad but about recognizing your own values as a person through others, who like you, live though the happiness of others. Fate shirou moves beyond the trauma of the fire and does have to reckon with the realities of life later on(in a way archer shirou was largely blind to until he became a counter guardian) but as you said, has the strength to reckon with that. In the same way arturia gains the strength to recognize her own life with pride and accept her fate. It's a beautiful story that is seriously slept on and I think just as much thematically and character rich as the other two routes if not moreso
@@MrInuhanyou123 True. Unlike say, UBW Shirou, Fate Shirou doesn't have the luxury of knowing what will happen. He's all on his own in his journey in terms of having assistance from Archer. But again, he doesn't NEED that. Because unlike all the other iterations (including to some extent Oath Under Snow), he doesn't lack humanity in his chase for his ideal. He does so not out of ignorance, nor defiance, nor surrenders for another nor discards his ideals- he holds them as his connection to Saber. He has a human strength behind his ideal now. I do wish more people would give teh Fate Route a chance.
This one definitely works as being specifically Archer's rendition of EMIYA. Kinda in the same way Time Alter works as Kiritsugu's rendition, its not a necessarily hopeful but its heroic all the same.

After listening to countless other Emiya remixes and remakes, like Illya's and Kiritsugu's version, this still sounds the most incredible. You can pit it against the biggest of the best like Time Alter, Emiya Crow's Claw, Emiya Realta Nua and UBW Extended yet this version would still be in a league of its own. It has aged well.

I really appreciate this version. It doesn't have the flashy bits the ubw version does but the Dean version does the ramp up better in how it's an Oh Shit! moment for the audience and Archers opponents. The fact Archer was throwing incantations into his moves to hide it was also brilliant. Illya only catches on at the end.

I think it's because this version carries a degree of sadness with it. UBW was the only thing Archer had to show for all the sacrifices he made in life, and when does this song play? When he's again sacrificing himself. On the other hand, Shirou's "Emiya" versions carry a degree of hope and vigor in them because he hasn't been hardened by life to anywhere near the same level.

HF Shirou can't become Archer, for obvious reasons, while Fate Shirou is the closest to following the route that Archer took. He has to forever seek out Saber, and as he has not fully embraced that inhuman side of him, there is a distinct possibility of him failing and becoming Archer. The very thing that Fate Shirou needs, is also the very thing that could destroy him.

I realized I was unclear in my last edit so I'm here to fix that. The reason why UBW Shirou isn't going to become Archer is because he has fully embraced the idea of being a sword. He only really listens to rin and saber because they residentially essentially wield him. He is no longer human. Archer still had that humanity in him which is why he is so bitter and tries to kill Shirou

You know, I always found Fate Shirou to be the most incompatible with Archer.
With UBW Shirou, he still has those same 'for everyone' goals and the same lack of a selfish goal, just an understanding of what that means.
With Heaven's Feel Shirou, he's completely abandoned his ideals for the sake of a single person.
Those Archer can understand and respect. But Fate Shirou? The guy who never knew who Archer was? The guy who lived a life like a copy of his own? Stood by his ideals blind to the suffering ahead? Yet never failing because he had a goal beyond that? All without his intervention?
I can only imagine Archer being completely baffled by him. Which in a way makes sense. That version of Shirou would be independent of Archer, any of the deeds he would accomplish would be without siphoning knowledge and skill from Archer or from taking Archer's power. Unlimited Blade Works would be his enetirely.

@@KnightofChaosDeck I mean that is emblematic of the theme of fate route itself and why I really love it. Arturia and shirou are healed by each other of their past traumas and move forward with pride. The route itself isn't about the ideal being good or bad but about recognizing your own values as a person through others, who like you, live though the happiness of others.
Fate shirou moves beyond the trauma of the fire and does have to reckon with the realities of life later on(in a way archer shirou was largely blind to until he became a counter guardian) but as you said, has the strength to reckon with that. In the same way arturia gains the strength to recognize her own life with pride and accept her fate.
It's a beautiful story that is seriously slept on and I think just as much thematically and character rich as the other two routes if not moreso
@@MrInuhanyou123 True. Unlike say, UBW Shirou, Fate Shirou doesn't have the luxury of knowing what will happen. He's all on his own in his journey in terms of having assistance from Archer.
But again, he doesn't NEED that. Because unlike all the other iterations (including to some extent Oath Under Snow), he doesn't lack humanity in his chase for his ideal. He does so not out of ignorance, nor defiance, nor surrenders for another nor discards his ideals- he holds them as his connection to Saber. He has a human strength behind his ideal now.
I do wish more people would give teh Fate Route a chance.

This one definitely works as being specifically Archer's rendition of EMIYA. Kinda in the same way Time Alter works as Kiritsugu's rendition, its not a necessarily hopeful but its heroic all the same.

I really appreciate this version. It doesn't have the flashy bits the ubw version does but the Dean version does the ramp up better in how it's an Oh Shit! moment for the audience and Archers opponents. The fact Archer was throwing incantations into his moves to hide it was also brilliant. Illya only catches on at the end.

I think it's because this version carries a degree of sadness with it. UBW was the only thing Archer had to show for all the sacrifices he made in life, and when does this song play? When he's again sacrificing himself.
On the other hand, Shirou's "Emiya" versions carry a degree of hope and vigor in them because he hasn't been hardened by life to anywhere near the same level.
