Just saw your comment. Yes, you can pause. But make sure to state that you are pausing to think. There is also a pause record button that you can use in case something unexpected happens - like a kid starts crying, or someone walks in making loud noise or you need to rush to turn off the over. You can pause your recording and resume although I suggest you do your best to pause it in a natural manner and resume your narration in a way that continues what you were saying before.

Hi, sorry for late reply. The main point of the test is NOT to get the right answer. The website has been deliberately chosen because it is somewhat difficult to find the answer to the question they have asked. The whole point is just to show how you handle the situation. How you talk while struggling. How you give feedback etc.

Well, I believe that UserTesting has specific instructions for that. They recommend that you avoid adding any real personal info in the tests. So, you could think about using a fake profile. Although I do remember using my real name and email because I didn't think it was a big deal. I suppose you should use your own discretion. But using a fake name or fake email should not impact your rating. Your job is to show them how a real user would interact and as long as you're showing an authentic experience those minor details shouldn't matter.
There is no deadline, but there is a limit to how long you can carry out a test. If the test has fewer questions then it should be over in 10 or 15 minutes. If it goes over an hour for a normal test, I do not know if they will cancel the test or you may get a poor review afterwards. Also, you cannot listen back to your recording. This is supposed to be a natural way to give you real-life and instant feedback. Trying to correct it or redo it actually goes against the point.

Denise Morgan Was the recorder software from User Testing downloaded and installed before you tried to launch it? I'm not sure what the problem may be, but contact their support about it. Most user testing sites have proprietary applications for screen capture and voice recording.

There is no time frame actually. I've never had a time limit, I've always been allowed to do the task for as long as it takes. That said, it is important not to waste time on unnecessary comments or actions, or to spend too much time doing nothing. Just give a natural response to the tasks.

Well, the screen and your voice no longer get recorded. I am not 100% certain that they do not know if it has been paused. I would always be careful not to jump around the screen or make any drastic changes while the recording is paused.
Well, I don't believe it's compulsory and I think that there are different requirements in different locations. So far, in several years, I have been asked to use a special camera maybe less than 5 times. For some projects or tests, they may want to track your eye movement, expressions or hand movement (how you travel across the website) and they may ask you to use your camera for that. This is the first time I am hearing that they require you to have a camera after a few tests and it's possibly a US thing, I'm in India and have had no such requirement. In any case, I do believe that's a good thing. If they are asking you for more complicated tasks then you will get paid more. I'd consider myself lucky if I get a task like that. :)
Star Surfer yes. They do record you talking so they can send it to the clients who will view and analyse your experience. There are no offers but if you keep the page open you will get tasks. Sometimes it comes everyday but sometimes you won't get anything for a week.
Hi. Nice video. So I applied to usertesting and I tried it twice. Got rejected twice! Now I know how an Indian would be rejected for poor grammar and bad accent. But I do not come under that category. At least not the grammar part. So after watching your video, I see that I've done it very much like you've described here. Only thing is I was interrupted twice where i had paused and I had internet issues sometimes. But the test was done! And i did not keep talking ball the time but I did talk a lot about what I'm doing. Are you supposed to say I'm going to be silent and let it record or actually hit the pause button ? I really don't know what went wrong. I actually had a lot of interest in doing this It was a pretty easy one too and it's one of those things which I feel oh this is very simple. And if this guy can do it I definitely can. I've no idea why it was rejected though. Ultimate burn lol ! Do you have any idea ? Should I try again ?
I really cannot answer why you were rejected - that is up to those people in Usertesting only. It could be your remaining silent a lot was an issue, I really don't know. Maybe you could ask them why. Or try again. Good luck.

Noreen Ahmed There are lots of RUclips videos showing 5 star User Testing testers. Just enter *usertesting 5 star* or some similar phrase in the RUclips search box, and you'll see loads of results. But as stated, due to confidentiality clauses in the User Testing user agreement, you won't find actual tests.

Hi, I've not heard similar issues from anyone else. It's pretty clear to me and there is movement when I watch it. There's possibly an internet issue where you are.
Your language is very similar to english. And I would newer give a single star rating for telling "i am browsing the site" They nead real impression of their product, not just time killers to get paid

This is as close as I am going to get to give an example, I am not going to risk getting my account banned by giving real info. I have many 5 star ratings in my profile and I doubt I am 'confused' or I would not be getting paid. I've simulated and narrated typical scenarios a tester might face. The basic message is to stick to the point and express your thoughts - whatever it is. Please check related videos that may be more suited to your understanding.

earphone with speaker microphone should be fine. They just don't want you to use your laptop/PC mic since that will pick up a LOT of extra noise.
