It's ironic that when the show began, they kind of established that Will is an amazing dancer and Carlton as a bad dancer. But in actual fact, Carlton is an AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT dancer and Will.... well, if I say anything negative, I'll be bombarded with hate replys.
That was the basis of the Soul Train episode. And Will was a pretty good dancer, in a weird interesting non-conventional style.

I disagree. The way they portrayed Will's dancing, they gave him that no fucks given just move your ass on the floor type of dancing. They didn't make him look like an "amazing" dancer. Pretty much every dance scene is just him being himself, an idiot basically. The Carlton thing tho yea, they started by making him a bad dancer, then revealed that he's actually very good.
Not really...the episode where Carlton accidently took drugs they showed him dancing good, and when they were on the game show for Aunt Viv and Uncle Phil after Will jumped off they stage Carlton did a back flip and killed the dance floor. They're both great characters, its no competition
Well, the actor that played Carlton is a trained dancer. I'm sure Will knew a few moves back then as well, but you can't really compare someone who studies and trains dancing to someone who just picks up a few moves and just freestyles the rest.
So yes, Carlton is a straight up better dancer. No contest. Soul Train episode shows that most clearly. Will looks like he's flailing around, just barely keeping himself in check, but Carlton busts a few precise, practiced and very smooth moves, blowing him out of the water.
