Dude, everything can’t be Marvel style ultra unrealism. I love the Riddler design. Nobody is scared of a pretty boy in spandex. A dude that looks like a Unabomber style madman is a genuine threat. The fact that he doesn’t care for shiny presentation is a definite nod toward realism.
Agreed I get people are attached to the classic designs I also love them but this version is less flashy trickster and more Zodiac Killer which for Matt Reeves’ interpretation of this world works perfectly from what we’ve seen so far

Actually there’s a tv spot where you can see the arrow looking things are actually meant to go into his grapple gun, they’re essentially ammo so brad got it right, which I think is sick
I'm one of those guys who never cared for Riddler's comic designs; always felt kind of wacky in the modern age imo. But this new look has really been growing on me.
That’s the point Riddler isn’t meant to look like the majority of his other interpretations, I get that people are attached to the previous versions but it is called reinterpretation for a reason, instead of the flashy trickster and comedic relief we’ve seen in other versions (especially from Frank Gorshin from the 1960s movie and tv show and Jim Carrey’s version from Batman Forever) but this one is instead taking direct inspiration from the infamous Zodiac Killer and honestly it’s an absolutely perfect reimagining of the character to me, Paul’s performance (from what we’ve seen so far) is so unnerving and uncomfortable that he’s done his job perfectly by making Edward truly terrifying as opposed to funny or comically maniacal
Being that The Riddler has always been my favorite member of The Rouges Gallery I’m extremely excited for this film....but his design is odd as a fan of the classic iterations of the character. Having said that I’m sure this look will fit perfectly with the depiction Matt Reeves is going for...and Paul Dano is such a fantastic actor! As far as the figures go...Catwoman is probably my favorite, even though the face could be much better. Really excited for the Hot Toys but overall I like what Mcfarlane did here. Thank you for the great review!
The riddler is also my favorite batman villain and the way they look to be portraying him in this movie is exactly why I'm not even remotely interested in this film.
I agree with you, Chuck The Mystery. I saw the “The Batman” movie Riddler at Walmart, but I passed on it. This look for the Riddler just doesn’t work for me.
I love these figures. I think they’re really good representations of the characters and at the $20 price point you can’t ask for much more. I suppose if you’re someone who is looking to put them in really dynamic poses they might not be for you, but that isn’t me. I’m so excited for this movie and am just happy we have them in figure form!
Spoilers if you didn’t watch the movie If they give us another wave of the Batman figures they should give us a Bruce Wayne in his coat or suit from the funeral scene and penguin in his purple suit from the bring into the light scene . And maybe like a falcone and a riddler in his orange jump suit and maybe and Alfred cause that would be sick
I dig them all aside from the side eye thing on certain ones. That Greg Capullo Catwoman is still my all-time favorite though. Got my preorder for Battinson in already. Definitely looking to grab the other ones too but debating on if I want the masked or unmasked Catwoman cause i'm not getting both (I wish McFarlane would just include extra heads to swap instead of rereleasing the same figure with a different head).
Brad, the Riddler is growing on me hopefully the actor delivers and I fully embrace this version. The others all look good. The Batman and Batcycle (you have yet to get and review) work together well. Ignore the hand paint apps difference. I am waiting to see this movie now that it seems the release is in sight🙂. 👍 And take care.
I believe that the things on the gauntlets are the darts that he uses for his grapnel gun. It looks like the grapnel gun is attached to his forearm and slides forward when he uses it. So, it could be that it automatically loads into it as it slides forward. It's my theory anyway ... Can't wait to watch the movie :).
I've looked at every single image I could find & it seems a pretty sure bet they're the darts for his grapnel gun. Not sure how they arrive in place, if its automatic or if he's gotta slide each new one out by hand, but they're clearly the same color & shape, just with flowering spike tips once inserted into the gun.
Brad that blue backdrop just looks superb with these figures man! Really sets them off! Was so awesome to watch this video and hear your thoughts. Your videos always bring a lot of light, happiness and excitement my friend. Really grateful for all your work and style. Was extra cool to see all these new figures together in the same video as it's getting more and more exciting everyday waiting for the new movie!
Canadians, I'd recommend looking for these at *Wal-mart* . They'll be the cheapest there, probably 24.99 CAD. Gamestop is ripping people off, selling these for 34.99 😬
Just gonna leave this here 'cause I otherwise forgot: I took a batarang (blue ice-tech version) from a 4" Spin master figure and gave it to White Knight Batman (the purple variant) and it looks really cool. It's *still* overblown and preposterous even with that scale, but it really works and is not bad. Cheers!
As geez, more "gun fingers". The white bits over the shoes are called spats. I'd say put side-eye Batman and Catwoman side by side, and, they're trying not to look at each other. Great review; can't wait for the film!
Those things on Batman’s gauntlets are darts for his grapnel gun, the Riddlers mask is a us army cold weather mask and the chisel he has is actually a ice cream scraper, and the Saran Wrap around his head is probably to not get any dna at a crime scene
great review, I'm hoping to get these figures too. as far as I can tell for batman the grapple is connected to the gauntlets (at least that's how the 11" spinmasters figure has it ) so I would guess those bolts or arrows may be the grapple hooks in condensed mode . yeah the Riddle looks super odd. it is a shame there wasn't a small roll of tape for the accessory over the ice scraper/chisel , Penguin looks cool but that goofy pew pew hand .. why did they restrict Todd like that , seems so nonsensical , I did Cat womans look. best guess its some sorta electro-whip and that thing on the end is like the prongs on a taser .
Having seen the movie I really love the Riddler design even more. It is meant to be something that anyone could put together with a little time and a few bucks but still look scary. Its a distinct look, yet its also something that you can probably get at your local army surplus. Which is actually a plot point lol
1:57 those are arm blades, in the dark knight he uses them went he fights joker, they're mostly for blocking swords or maybe climbing, in the dark knight he had a button that thrown them off like mini batarangs.
Great review! I've only seen the Riddler and Catwoman so far, I got Riddler and I may get Batman if I see it, the rest I might wait until after I've seen the film. I find with these figures that as long as they look good I don't mind them not posing too well in certain instances, like the Penguin and the Riddler I don't expect to do much in the way of physicality, so if they look good just standing on the shelf I'm happy. I got Riddler since he's what I'm most excited about in the film, and I really love his redesign. I like comic Riddler as a character, but the skintight suit with question marks never did anything for me, the hat and green suit look I like a lot, but to me it's easy to come off as too goofy in certain instances especially live action, and I think for this film it would've never worked. I get it's not for everyone, but going for a Zodiac inspired design completely works for me, plus unlike a lot of other Batman villains Riddler's design I wouldn't say is as important to his core character as say the Joker or Two-Face. To me based on the trailers the essence of the character is there, he's making a game out of people's lives just to prove how smart he is, sure there's the addition of a supposedly 'righteous cause' element, but he's still making a game out of it.
Me and my dad watched the movie, and after we watched it my dad asked where was Colin Farrell?? And I told him he was the Penguin and he was Blown Away

Wow just wow you completely misunderstood everything Matt and the team are going for, if you were a real fan you’d understand that this ain’t a one to one recreation of the comics but a reinterpretation of what we already know, in the majority of Penguins appearances he is fat and wears a suit so I don’t understand your complaint there, Riddler is less of a flashy trickster and is more directly inspired by the Zodiac Killer, Jim Carrey back in 1995 got the closest to the comics but this ain’t what this movie is doing, I agree not every comic book movie has to be super gritty and dark and realistic but those are the traits most associated with Batman and his surrounding cast of characters
@@quietdemon8138 i get all that. i am just not impressed or intrigued. But, then again, this and a lot of other recent movies were not made for people like me. When i watch a superhero film, i expect to be sold a fantasy. Not a semi-realistic fantasy. i don’t want to watch a “Batman” movie and see what the characters would look like if they were in the real world. i would like to be temporarily taken to another world entirely. A world where a baby is born to resemble a bird and grows up to be a villain known as The Penguin. Instead, we get a physically imposing man with a jagged scar on his face. What exactly says “Penguin” about Colin Farrell’s design/portrayal ?? The Riddler just looks like a post-apocalyptic terrorist. i feel like Hollywood is missing that point. Judging from the comments here, i suppose that Hollywood is giving the majority exactly what it wants. i’m just going to have to miss out and watch something else.

Judging from the comments here, i suppose that Hollywood is giving the majority exactly what it wants.
i’m just going to have to miss out and watch something else.
woke movie, woke figures!!!!!!
