I loved rubber bowling balls during my junior days (late 80s and early 90s). Bowled my highest game with a Brunswick Black Diamond. Also bowled with an LT-48 Rock for a period of time. Great for a cranker that I once was.
I’m really enjoying all of your vintage bowling ball videos, Vic. I must say: I actually prefer all of these oldies compared to all of the reactive resin or even particle stuff of today because balls made of rubber, polyester, and especially urethane just seem so much more durable and robust. Like I was telling somebody else here on RUclips a little while ago, I’ve had THREE reactives crack on me-despite the fact that I NEVER stored them in places like the trunk of my car or in extreme cold or heat. It was just so disheartening to have spent hundreds of dollars on those only to have to trash them three years later or sooner. Not to mention, I’ve found that using allegedly ‘inferior’ equipment like urethane, polyester, and even rubber has actually improved my game significantly because they force you to rely on your innate skill rather than having the latest and greatest (?!!) technology to fall back on if you’re not such a fantastic player. As the proud owner of a ‘72 AMF Magic Line, a ‘78 AMF Classic Pro Roll, a ‘76 Columbia Yellow Dot, and an ‘85 AMF Black Angle, I can only tell you to keep up the great work!
Glad you enjoy it, this old stuff is perfect when you want to play a little straighter. Can really keep you out of trouble when the lanes get squirrely .
Great session! One of my first fingertip bowling balls that I learned with and threw my first 600 series with it at the age of 14. Not too shabby back in those days.
I just took this ball off the rack at the bowling alley today used it on a short pattern sports shot bowled a 633 set with this ball I took it home with me🤣 this ball a beast first time using it and I throw a 633 set on a sport shot that's crazy
I just used this ball today at the bowling alley took it off the rack i thought it was urethane but this old guy that was sitting by me told me that it was rubber and that it was a good ball and it is a good ball cuz i was crushing the pins just like the guy in this video was and the old man told me that this ball is a real gem and that i should take it home and add it to my arsenal and that's exactly what i did lol actually a couple other people had told me i should take it with me cuz of how good i was throwing it on the short sports pattern matter of fact its the only 600 set i got in the sports pattern league it's been 4 weeks this the last week next week its a way longer pattern they switch the patterns every 4 weeks you get a new one but im go be in the travelers convention this up coming week weds to Saturday bowling im go use it and hopefully score sum big games with it this is only the beginning but that's why i typed this ball in on RUclips to see what's its about
That's just not fair! Those revs should b deemed illegal!! Haha. Hey vic. After throwing the ball, could you see burn out marks on the lanes like after a 70 442 burning out? Haha. Awesome job bro!! Looking forward to the next one!! Take care my braddah..
I recall the block lettered version of the LT-48 was the "honey" version that didn't pass the durometer test. I threw the JP version of the LT for many years. Well, I'm a lefty so it's obvious.
Even enter a long format tournament where the lanes burn up after just 3 games. And then when everyone is moving way left, just throw a ball like this over the track area?
@@KingOfTVBowling Oh, didn't realize he did that. I actually just got a Supernatural off ebay for $50, which will fit in nicely under my Fever Pitch. But still, the Natural line or Grenade isn't a rubber ball. Is there any issue with those rubber balls getting stuck in ball return. I thought that's what happened if people used rubber balls on modern conditions, the oil makes the coverstock so slippery it gets stuck.
Right they are Urethane. Both provide the same idea with a similar look, the old Urethane rolls real close to this LT-48. Both can still have trouble with the ball returns from time to time on the longer patterns.
That ain't 16lbs. From the looks of your finger and thumb holes, it's easily 3lbs lighter after drilling. lol Loved that ball. 2nd "high performance" ball I ever owned. (Yellow Dot)

The Black Diamond is definitely on our list. We are still hunting for one new or in solid shape, stay tuned.
Hard to argue with results! Still throw mine now and again and it definitely can get the job done if you know how to throw it correctly

The best rubber ball ever. Love mine
The first ball I threw with this ball was a strike! I can hook it real well!
Keep up the good work Brayden, glad you enjoy it!
Jesus that ball hits hard! Why is it so good???
Perfect music too! Loved this vid!
Thx the pancake blocks always seem to hit well for me.
All his balls hit hard lol… this guy talking about the pancakes hit well. He makes a mineralite hit hard! 😂😀
As much as it normally hooks in oil, it struggles on carry down, hence you can see it almost leave pocket 5 pins on a few shots starting at 3:20

Bach then, they were real fingertip. truly just the tip of the finger.

Yup. I had a Manhattan Rubber S/N EP6192, and an LT-48. I got 2 300's and an 800 with the LT-48, and a sanctioned 299.

Smelled like burning rubber,lol
My first ever bowling ball but it didn't move like that lol!
So fire
The left handed shot would have been even better if the advertisement on the right side would have been mirrored also :D
Is that the earliest verion or the one that passed later hardness tests?
78 model, still waiting on the Man behind the curtain to give us our official durometer readings. Stay tuned. lol

Johnny B Good 😄

Worked for Simo with the Grenade

He is both left and right side bowler? A mirror image makes it look that way.
He is actually ambidextrous, but by popular request we flipped some of the footage for the south paw fans, thanks for viewing.
Do the Manhattan Rubber next!
It’s on our list we are working on a Green Pro Maker should be up in the next vote, stay tuned.
Love to see my pro maker too
Just cleaned up my 1978 LT48. Now to find a shop that wants to smell like a truck braking,
Lol our PSO said it smelled like Stale Beer Cigars and Rubber when they drilled ours up.😂🤣😂

Its every bit of 16 trust me its a boat anchor for sure. No BS there. Thanks for viewing.
Superior rubber coverstocks!
Man! That LT-48 bowling ball should get a 300 game! 🎳🎳🎳🎳🎳
