What makes the lion a "King" is literally the capability of a single male lion being able to rule out a whole pack, exactly like a king would rule a kingdom. A single lion will face two or more lions to defend it's title at all cost and sometimes to the death. To me lions are more practical and aggressive towards contenders they have tons of competition out their habitat, specially the Hyenas. A tiger is always lonely and only fights when mating or when defending territory. In my opinion Lions would beat that ass.
Male hippos rule their packs as well. A single tiger can kill a single lion most of the time. The only thing lions have over tigers is the pride

Both cats are fearsome. One on one, a Male Lion could lose to a Siberian Tiger. There is just something about a male Lion that demands respect. Maybe it’s because they rule their prides, or like you said, their manes or both. I like both cats and both are not to be taken lightly.

Let me break it down for you.
Lions are considered as King of the Jungle as it has Kingship Characteristics such as protecting his Kingdom ( pride and territories) and have an army ( lioness usually hunt for the pride).
While on the other hand , The larger and stronger Tiger , as a solitary animal, cannot be the King of the Jungle as it did possess any kingship abilities like that of a Lion.

Lion aren't the strongest but their behavior is the one which make them fit to be called as king of animal. They have pride to rule, Lion are one of few cats that live in group which made them special among big cats familia. On the other hand, Tiger are fit more as a warrior since they are strong and solidarity. I think physically appearance alone, male lion fit more as a king thanks to their majestic manes.
In the end, physically Elephant is the one who sit on the throne. There's literally nothing that could threat this creature. Lucky for all land predators since Elephant aren't carnivore

Bears usually don't fight one another unless it's mating season and one happens to overlap another's territory. A Male Lion's only job is to fight and defend his pride. It's all he does, he specializes in combat. Combine that combat prowess with his aggression, and you have the most dangerous big cat on the planet. In the Roman colluseums this one particular Lion was victorious in every battle they put him in. He fight top predators from around the world, bear and tigers included. That's how he earned the title and status as King of the Beasts.

A lion can as well, it's just that they rather fight on 3 legs while the one paw is doing a lot of damage. Sometimes they can switch, but usually they have more balance and can generate more powerful paw swipes. Tigers standing on two legs fighting their not gonna have a lot of power in their paw swipes unless they're on 4s. Bears are different because they're more balanced when they stand on two legs, and can stand on two legs for long periods.

The pride of lions will be too much for any species, also I saw this documentary other day, where the nomads come and challenge the current king, they first come to the pride like they are looking for a mate, if any pride lioness accepts the offer then the king will allow them inside the pride and they can share the lionesses, if they reject then the king have to defend the nomads sometimes 2 or 3 on 1 matchup and also the king spots them the battleground away from the Cubs and they walk to that spot and then fight. That’s so crazy

All that terms are debatable because if it's not, we wouldn't have this ancient debate a long time ago... Tiger's title being the biggest cat was just a rare single record on paper. And just so you know when people say Big, they mean the "weight", Not the overall "Dimensional Size" because if talk about in terms of Height, full grown Male Lion will take the cake(or at least 90% of the time). Point is, there are Tigers bigger than Lions, just like there are Lions Bigger than Tigers and yes that includes the heavy Siberians....

Foolish thought. How is lion king where there is Tiger. Have you have seen a folktales or animal characters portraying lion king over tiger? No, it is not possible. We have both royal bengal tiger and Asiatic lion, but is a reality any species of lion can't stand in front of classy superior killer royal bengal tiger (indian tiger). this is a reality you believe are not doesn't matter.👍

you left out the part where there ranges used to overlap and that the Bengal tigers despite being the arguably largest living tiger subspecies would avoid areas where prides of Asiatic lions were inhabiting despite the fact the Asiatic lion is the smallest living lion subspecies due to the fact that if the pride were to discover the tiger and get a hold of it the tiger was dead if it couldn't get away and sure tigers usually beat lions 1 on 1 (win rate is 40% for the lions and 60% for the tigers provided both animals are of similar size) but the issue is like a true king a male lion that has a pride is usually in a collation with other male lions + he has his lionesses that will come back him up and join the fight if need be and against the might of a pride even the biggest most bad ass tiger is gonna flee or get mauled to death if it can't escape or stupid enough to willingly stay and try to fight a whole lion pride by itself.

There are stories and incidents in India/all over Asia about tigers that makes the animal a ghost, shadow, mythical creature. The stealth of tiger has no match. Even tigers carry their kill with no visible traces.
Surely both animals are amazing but nothing can beat the fire-dark stripes of tiger.

@Sacred Saint yes, lion has it's army that is it's group so then better to say lion is king of it's group.
Because I don't think an elephant or rhino will belong to it's army and obey orders.
And if u say who dominate the jungles then I must say every apex predator of that jungle and by that sense both lions and tigers r apex predator be it lions social or tigers solitary.

Lions living in groups and became the dominant animal whereas tiger living alone and became the dominant animal. If u say lions face against hyenas, wild dogs then tigers also face against bears, wolves, wild dogs. No where lifestyle is easy.
