      It doesn’t work every time… But it sure is fun when it finally does work. I also really like the backlit Spruce Grouse shots. Didn’t look very good in my camera when I shot it but it post processed really well.

    The male Spruce grouse footage is stunning!

      Thanks buddy! I was shooting into the sun, so it looked really awful on the back of the camera but really popped with a little work in Final Cut.

    You are a inspiration for all to come to the big woods in northern Minnesota, thank you.

    I loved the grouse selfie! Good stuff Sparky. Is that a Raven in the background calling?

      @SparkyStensaas  Месяц назад +2

      Yes! in addition to the birds I videoed, I had ravens, Canada Jays, Boreal Chickadees, and Black-backed Woodpecker.

    Spruce Grouse are always a treat. I’ve heard that some folks think they’re mythical birds, because finding them is sometimes not so easy. Congratulations on the moose and the other good bird species you got, Sparky.

      I’ve always had very good luck finding Spruce Grouse for some reason. Awesome bird. I started a video showing all their different courtship displays, but haven’t finished it yet.

      I recall that a couple had shown up in Sax-Zim again a while back. Have you seen any there of late?

    Awesome video! I am following your lead... soon headed to TRNP for my own "October in the Park" photo adventure. Would be cool to run into you out there! My fingers (and toes!) are crossed... hoping to photograph a badger (with or without a coyote)!😉

      Ryan and I just got back from Teddy Roosevelt yesterday. We had tons of wildlife but no badgers on this trip. I hope you get lucky! Look for “Larry the lazy coyote“ who lays by the prairie dog burrows waiting for one to get a bit too far from its hole.
      Let me know how your trip goes! I started work on the Teri Roosevelt video, but it’ll take a couple weeks.

      @@SparkyStensaas I will watch for him. Sorry your Badger/Coyote streak came to an end. Maybe it will be my turn?!

    Awesome video! The American Tree Sparrow at 10:26 is actually a immature White crowned Sparrow though.

    I was not so sure about you trying to call in a moose. They can be quite dangerous and have killed plenty of people. That was a neat segment but your fans (which includes me) would hate to see you become Moose toe jam.

      Ha! True. I am very safe. If I bushwhack out to call Moose I’m always near a tree that I can easily climb.
