Thank you so much for making this video! Like others who have commented, I found the instructions that came with the mower completely useless. This video made me feel confident knowing that I have assembled it correctly. Thank you!!
Bought the SP185, what a difference to my old RS100, just that higher engine cc and big grass collector make this far easier, great video, when I was assembling it after watching the video I just followed your instruction.
This was a lifesaver for us; my Dad, my bro and me, none of us very practical managed to put it together and start it first time without any tears, raised voices, bad language or anything. Agree the "instructions" that come with the mower are useless but your clear, easy to follow video was brilliant. Thanks so much.
Amazing, thank you! This really helped to take the pain out of trying to figure out the completely useless instructions provided. Keep up the great work. You deserve a lot more subscribers!
Wow thank you so much, I had nobody to help me set up my mower and I was very overwhelmed with such a powerful mower. You made it easy to understand and a very simple process - thanks!
Really helpful video👍🏼 I’ve just had mine delivered and i found this video much more useful than any instruction manual, I’m now set up and ready to mow, thank for a great video 😊
Great video! I really wish I'd seen it before trying to put together my HP185. One tip I'd give to prospective buyers/users is to NOT try to assemble the grass box in a cold garage, or anywhere else which is cold - it makes the plastic parts soooooo difficult to fit!! It took me over 20 minutes in my cool garage. Also the "instructions" supplied are absolute CR@P.
Absolutely superb video that was very easy to follow. I am not great at things like this and so the step by step simple approach was spot on and job done. Thank you
Same comments as everybody else, rubbish instructions supplied, brilliant video (and thanks James). Only additional comment is that the first time you screw the clamp bolts in anyone having less than a strongish grip would struggle to screw it in to leave 6/7mm thread sticking out…ie very tough to hold. I pushed the screw against the handle frame hard and turned the clamp itself, it just about screwed in. I am fairly strong so I suspect the screw end might need to be held with pliers for some people, hope this helps.
Very helpful as the instructions that come with the mower are useless. Step 1 has a picture of what appears to be the spark plug, the case being removed, an arrow appearing to tell you to remove it, another appearing to tell you to put it back and a warning symbol. Not a clue what I'm to do with that but I've followed every other step and the mower won't start.
Very useful video however the instructions say that the dip stick should be screwed in and then removed to check the oil level . If the level is done just be holding at the top of the oil tube threads wouldn’t this mean the engine was over filled with oil
Hi thanks for the instruction but would you know why the self propel won’t work from unboxing ? Is there something I have to do to initiate the drive ? Thanks
Great video... Can you help!? When I adjust the grass cutting level... The adjustment lever often pops out as I'm using the mower. Its like the spring is't tight enough or the plastic bit that is supposed to fit in each height hole, isn't long enough....? anyone have this issue?
I am thinking of buying this mower but find nothing much about the cam levers on the handle. Are they there so the handle can easily folded over for storage?
Just bought one and assembled put oil and petrol in started it up on the third pull, but when I had to start it again after emptying the grass and I couldn’t start it tried again and again left it a while too HELP
Compared to my old Mountfield this is dirt cheap & made up from cheap flimsy brittle plastic parts. After the third use I lost a screw & nut which had to be fixed at a repair shop because it was inaccessible behind one of the wheels. Clearly very poor quality control. I have just taken out the mower from winter storage and found that the starter cable has perished & snapped, one day after the 2 year guarantee ran out. I can't believe that it is just a thin piece of shoe lace. I have never had to replace shoe laces which last years in rain, ice & all weathers while the lawnmower cable never gets wet. I would say buy another brand but the repair centre says that the build quality of all brands these days is poor.
To be fair, it is only an entry level domestic machine. I’m not justifying it breaking down and I’m not associated with them. Mountfield do make better quality machines but they are more expensive.
Blimin ek….awesome up load! Thank you!!! Wouldn’t of put it together reading their instructions….can the next upload be about how to make a wife smile!
Thank you! The instructions were useless and I don’t have anyone I can ask. This helped me so much!
You're welcome!

Got me out of a pickle. Instructions provided with lawnmower are absolutely useless. Thanks
Ace video. Removed any headache and top piece of kit to boot. Nice skills.

Without this video I would have struggled with assembly. Surely Mountfield could do better. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful 👍🏼

The manual states the dipstick should be screwed in to determine oil level.
Very helpfull indeed mate thank a lot I got lost to where that little black plug went but now no very helpfull indeed thought it was a spare for ?😂👍🏻
Godsend this video! I did struggle with the box trying to get it onto the bars! Just couldn’t do it!

Brilliant video from a happy chappy 👍
Bought one from Screfix 10 minutes ago, arriving tomorrow, cant wait. This was really useful.
Bought one of these today ..did yours hold up ??
@Rorymay22 it's really really good. I suggest investing in a bottle of petrol treatment.
Will do thanks
@@Rorymay22did the self propelling work straight out of the box ?
@@simonhudson8739 yea all good ..have used it a few times now and all seems well

I've just bought the mountfield SP160 R, instructions useless and cant see a demo online for it, so im going off this and winging it 😂
Hi thanks for the instruction but would you know why the self propel won’t work from unboxing ? Is there something I have to do to initiate the drive ? Thanks
Great video, what do you think of the stiga engines in these mowers?
Ta for the video James
Thank you
Thank you very much for this appreciate it great video 👍
i have just bought one of these...good video! do you know whether there is a roller conversion for this mower? thanks
Pretty sure there is not a conversion for this.
Hi what oil is good for these? Is 10w 40 oil ok??
Excellent video thank you :-)
I purchased this exact same model yesterday, the self propelled element now no longer works 🫣, any idea how to repair this?
Just bought it today and the propel is not working, did you get it sorted out ? 👍🏻
Would you recommend petrol stabiliser? Or just pure unleaded.
Aspen Fuel -worth every penny 👍🏼
Many thanks. The boxed instructions are absolute garbage but this was superb 👍
Excellent. Mountfield should be paying you for this. Instruction manual is very poor
Bloody brilliant! Thank you!! Just as well be reading War and Peace than use the so called "instruction" manual. Duly subscribed.

Sounds like a miss manufacture. Contact Mountfield, they will help 👍🏼

Yes that’s right 👍🏼

Watching this video to help assemble mine but i only have 1 cable any help?
It means you have hand propelled model not self propelled model I think.
Great video thank you. The instructions are really poor.
This is amazing. The instructions in the box are shite
Thanks the instructions that came with my mower weren't even for the right model. Totally useless
