- LEGENDS OF THE OLD WEST presented by Black Barrel Media. In August of 1857, a wagon train of travelers from Missouri and Arkansas rolls into Utah Territory. It’s called the Baker-Fancher party and it’s headed for California. The group camps in a high mountain valley called Mountain Meadows in southern Utah Territory, but Mormon settlers in the area believe the emigrants are more than just travelers. The Mormons believe the Baker-Fancher party is connected to the approaching U.S. Army column. As fear and suspicion grow, a Mormon militia attacks the travelers in a tragic event called the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

Excellent! Always look forward to the next episode each week. Thanks love the narration ⚡T.C.B.
Accountability is still an issue...great series❤
Another great episode 👍
When I sent them this suggestion I was hoping for more Porter Rockwell stories of him being a lawman and less about killing those Missourians
There is no debate on who and what the Mormons are.
This is a great series as all the others you cover.
I thank you.
Wish this episode was actually about porter. I feel like since so many books have been written about his life, there's got to be more to tell about him. Too bad this espisode was wasted on a side quest, but I still love this show!
I grew up where John D Lee's trial was held and where he was executed. Amongst my friends are descendants of both Lee & Hickman.
I wonder why the immigrants turned south at SLC when continuing on the northern route would have gotten them out of mormon territory much sooner.
There is a play about Lee's trial written by one of his descendants, it honestly leaves the question unanswered. It premiered in the courtroom where the trial was actually held, which is now a museum.
Once a cult, always a cult.
With zero accountability apparently.
The families of the victims should sue the Mormon church.
@@slowturtle6745 Use their own words against them.
An eye for an eye. Too bad for the Mormon grandkids… Karma is a B.
How are they a cult
If you think that’s bad wait til you read the Old Testament especially 1 Samuel chapter 15, just cause terrible things are done by people in a religion does not make that religion evil, or else all religions would be evil based on the imperfections of the members of that church! I promise the Mormon church (church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) is not and does not even resemble a cult!
the federal government should have ousted young and took control of the political scene in Utah and this would never had happened.
The baker fancher party thought they could bully the saints just like they did back east . They didnt deserve what became there end Just like J D L wasnt to blame for this massacre Brigham gave the order in my opinion .
The federal Government should’ve spent more time worrying about the southern states trying to secede rather than persecuting a religion
